Requirements for models context-sensitive lexical semantics

We argue that a basic requirement of a context-sensitivelexical semantic model is, above all, a clear standpoint withrespect to the interplay between the lexicon, cognition andpragmatic processes.

Minimalism

According to the minimalist position, nothing of what weknow about, say, the entity called dog is part of the lexicalinformation associated with the word dog, except for thosefeatures that are necessary to define it as a domestic animal(as opposed to a wild one) and allow us to distinguish it fromother entities falling into the same category.
