The Ugly Sisters at Liskerrett
A fun filled family show by
Bec Applebee
based on characters from Cinderella
Liskerrett Community Centre will be
getting into the Christmas spirit with
an end of year show for all the family
to enjoy.
On Friday 11th December, Cornish Actor
and Theatre Maker Bec Applebee, well
known for her nationally acclaimed solo
show ‘Oh Mary’ as well as her work with
Kneehigh theatre, Goldentree and the band
Dalla, now presents her new show ‘The
Ugly Sisters’.
This fun filled, physical theatre show uses
characters from the ‘Cinderella’ story to
take a satirical look at media driven, photo
shopped, ideal images of beauty. Starring
some of Cornwall’s finest performers, Bec
Applebee, Jennifer Beare and Mary
Woodvine, the show also has a
combination of original music by Seamus
Carey and words by Callum Mitchell (from
‘Silly Boys’).

It’s also not too late to help us choose the films we shall
be screening in the first half of 2016.
We have made a selection of 22 films. They include
suggestions that have been made on the feedback forms
and others that we think would be of interest from
reviews provided by the BFFS and other sources.
We have provided a synopsis of each of these films for
you to read. Films appear in no particular order.
Information and reviews about each film are also available
on the internet and in the library if you are interested in
finding out more.
You have SIX votes per person. Please select the six
films you would like to be shown. We will then add up
all the votes we receive and then announce the film
programme in December.
Votes should be registered by Thursday 3rd December.
The online survey can be accessed via our web site on
the ‘Film’ page, or if you prefer pen and paper pick up a
voting form at Liskerrett’s reception.
Amazingly, in January we shall be screening our 100th film,
something I think to celebrate. Any ideas of how we
should mark this occasion would be appreciated.
As always, we look forward to hearing from you.
To be held in the hall at the Liskerrett Centre, Sat 5th Dec at 2.30 for 3pm start. Enjoy short films, dance, music, young performers, a Quiz, small craft display, audience participation, afternoon tea and yummy cake! Entry is free but donations are welcome towards future Vital Spark projects. Questions? Contact: Jan on (01579) 320155

Wind and Rain Cancels Lantern
Procession
The wind and rain on Saturday
evening forced organisers to cancel
the lantern procession of Liskeard
Lights Up this year.
Some photos were taken of the
lanterns that have been made this
year. We are hoping to organise an
event before Christmas so that
anyone who wants to, will still have
the chance to parade with their
lantern. We will let you know the
details as soon as they are confirmed.
Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra would like to invite Cornish musicians aged 7 - 107 to join us for an orchestral making music day with a difference. As part of our Cornwall Residency in January 2016, BSO will be working with young people, students and adults giving opportunities for coaching, performances and mentoring. We would like to celebrate our visit by inviting musicians from across Cornwall to work with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s Associate Musician, Patrick Bailey, along with a string quartet of professional musicians for one day only, creating a brand new piece of music—from scratch—in just 3 hours. Joining forces with Liskeard’s regular “Sounds Vital” project, musicians will form an ensemble of mixed instruments and work together to create rhythms, melodies and musical phrases to form a brand new composition, ready for sharing to family and friends at 2pm. The sharing will also include a performance by the local ‘Sounds Vital’ ensemble, who have been working throughout Autumn to devise new music together, and a performance by the BSO string quartet. Visit the following link by Monday 21st December to register your attendance: https:/www.surveymomkey.com/r/NDTHQKM We welcome musicians aged 7+ from anywhere across Cornwall Any instrument with any musical background can join us… classical or non-classical Singers are welcome If you are a keyboard player or amplified guitarist you may need to bring your own keyboard/amp - please check on registration.
