Group Size The tour prices shown on the following pages are valid for specific departure dates in 2018 & 2019, and are based on a group size of between 40 and 48 students, with exclusive use of a 48, 49 or 53 seat coach, which will collect you from your school or college. For groups of between 20 and 40 students, we are able to offer travel by coach for your exclusive use, for an appropriate supplement.

An extensive range of bespoke masterclasses are also available, covering all aspects of theatre and performance, which can be tailored to any other production you wish to see. Physical, Devised Theatre MasterclassInspired by companies and practitioners like Frantic Assembly, Complicite, Jacques Lecoq, Artaud and Grotowski, this workshop will help you explore movement, gesture, characters and themes, devising stories and performing in visually engaging and physically exciting ways.

Shakespeare Masterclass Tailored to any Shakespeare play you are studying or going to see, this workshop focuses on an actor’s approach to Shakespeare, exploring voice and speech, the use of language, rhythm, verse and prose, and uncovering Shakespeare’s hidden direction to the actor through the text. Students will work collectively on a central speech before working in small groups on scene studies, which can be performed at the end of the workshop.

Audition Masterclass Originally developed in partnership with A Chorus Line, this intense workshop is aimed at accomplished drama students considering a career in the performing arts. Students will enter a workshop audition, learning choreography in real time and expected to perform in groups to a high standard. This is followed by a singing call, and unlike a real audition, constructive notes from the leading practitioner.

Talks and Seminars There is more to theatre than the craft – it is also a business. In the UK, the creative industries as a whole is the UK fastest growing economy, contributing over £87bn to the UK economy, four times the GVA of the automotive industry, six times as much as life sciences and nearly 10 times that of aerospace. These talks cover a range of topics including:

The Business of Theatre How commercial productions are developed, created and staged, including budgeting, choosing cast and creatives, theatre contracts, funding, the art of producing, ticketing, marketing and more.

Working in the Arts How to manage your acting, singing, dance or other creative career, such as training, finding an agent, how to find work, marketing, tax, etc.

Stage Makeup Led by a professional makeup artist, students will learn how to design, document and apply stage makeup, with a couple of ‘looks’ demonstrated on willing volunteers.

Guided Sightseeing Tour of LondonEnjoy a sightseeing tour of London in the company of your Study Experiences representative, who will provide an informative commentary. The tour will last around two hours and will take in many of London’s world famous landmarks. The London EyeThe Coca-Cola London Eye is one of the world’s highest observation wheels, standing at 135 metres tall, and offers a brilliant panoramic view of London both during the day and night. Tower of LondonThe Tower of London offers dozens of sights and activities. Some of the most popular sights include the Crown Jewels, the Prisoners Exhibition and Lady Jane Grey’s graffiti. Learn about the history of the Tower, beginning in the 1080s, when William the Conqueror began to build the tower at the centre of his London fortress. ZSL London ZooProbably the world’s most famous zoo, ZSL London Zoo has been entertaining and delighting visitors since it opened to the public in 1847. There is also a full range of special exhibitions and a broad public programme of events throughout the year.

Science MuseumThe Science Museum is an impressive tribute to every conceivable area of science, illustrating in depth and detail the many developments in science, technology and medicine that have played a part in shaping the modern world. The Museum has broken away from the usual stereotypical collection and instead offers a more ‘hands-on’ approach to science. No matter what the subject, the Science Museum has a factual and fun way to deliver information.

Imperial War MuseumTo mark the start of the Centenary of the First World War, a transformed IWM London reopened in July 2014 with ground-breaking new First World War Galleries and a dramatic new atrium featuring key stories and iconic objects from their collections. The Imperial War Museum is unique in its coverage of conflicts, especially those involving Britain and the Commonwealth, from the First World War to the present day. It seeks to provide for, and to encourage, the study and understanding of the history of modern war and ‘war-time experience’. Groups can undertake a teacher-led visit using a variety of downloadable learning resources, or enjoy a curriculum-linked learning session with Museum educators.

National GalleryThe National Gallery houses one of the greatest collections of European paintings in the world. The gallery’s permanent collection spans the period from about 1250 to 1900 and consists of Western and European paintings. The collection contains over 2,300 paintings by many of the world’s most famous artists.

Natural History MuseumThe Natural History Museum is the UK’s national museum of natural history, and a centre of scientific excellence in taxonomy and biodiversity. The Museum’s mission is to maintain and develop its collections and use them to promote the discovery, understanding, responsible use and enjoyment of the natural world.

Victoria and Albert MuseumThe V&A is comprised of the museum at South Kensington, the V&A Museum of Childhood at Bethnal Green, and the archives and stores at Blythe House, Kensington Olympia. V&A South Kensington is the world’s greatest museum of art and design, with collections unrivalled in their scope and diversity. The V&A houses an astonishing collection of decorative art and design; its holdings of ceramics, costumes, jewellery, sculpture, prints and photographs are amongst the largest and most comprehensive in the world. Self-guided visits, workshops and talks all need to be booked in advance.

Bank of England MuseumThe Bank of England Museum offers an insight into the history and role of The Bank of England in the world of finance today. The Museum contains a large collection of coins and notes, as well as gold bars dating from the 15th Century to the modern market bar. In addition, inter-active systems allow visitors to look behind the doors of the nation’s central bank or to examine the intricacies of bank note design and production, and a computer-driven simulation gives visitors an idea of what it is like to deal on the US dollar/Sterling spot market.

Museum of LondonThe Museum of London retells the story of London from 1666 until the present day. Groups can visit London’s Burning, a stunning, interactive exhibition exploring the Great Fire of London and find out why fire was so crippling to 17th century Londoners and how it has shaped the city we know today.
