Boasting a well-respected agricultural tradition and rolling hills laced with vineyards, Loudoun has emerged as DC’s Wine Country®, one of the preeminent wine regions of the East Coast. The soil, climate and sunlight create excellent growing conditions for white varietals such as Viognier, as well as reds ranging from Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot to Virginia’s native grape, the Norton.

Throughout the countryside more than 40 wineries and tasting rooms are intertwined along country roads, nestled between horse farms and historic estates.

Many of our boutique-style wineries thrive on creating an intimate and relaxing experience for visitors, as our winemakers believe wine tasting is as personal as wine making. Loudoun’s winemakers are judged every year during the Loudoun Wine Awards, an event which showcases the depth of quality wine being produced in the county. To read more about the latest award-winning wines, visit LoudounWineAwards.com.
