May 24, 2020 The LUMINARY St. Mary Queen of Creation Catholic Church New Baltimore, Michigan He is Risen, He is truly Risen! Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord: Our first weekend back in church is the Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord. For forty days after the Resurrection Our Lord appeared several times to the Apostles and He taught them many things. He then sent them to teach the nations all that He had taught them. Our Catholic Faith is Apostolic, which is to say that it has been handed down from the Apostles, even to our own day. The Church in the world today continues to fulfill the mission to teach all nations. As baptized Catholics, we share in the mission given by Our Lord to His Church: we are called to bear witness to our Catholic Faith to those we meet. We receive Divine Revelation from Scripture and from the Church, it is a gift given to us to share. Look for ways that you can share your faith with someone this week. Next week is the Feast of Pentecost. The Easter season concludes with this Feast Day. The Feast of Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Mary and the Apostles. After Our Lords Ascension into Heaven, the Apostles continued to gather in the Upper Room and pray for the promised gift of the Holy Spirit. Once they received the Holy Spirit, they went out and boldly proclaimed the Gospel. The day of Pentecost saw the conversion of three thousand people to the Faith. We have received the very same Holy Spirit, first at Baptism then fully at Confirmation. The Holy Spirit gives us the grace we need to bear witness to Christ in the world. The strength and courage we need is available to us through those great Sacraments that we have received. As the Apostles prayed for the Holy Spirit in the Upper Room, let us pray this week for an increase in the gifts of the Holy Spirit within us, that we may be bold witnesses to Christ. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of Your love. Lord, send forth Your Spirit, and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth! May God bless you! Know of my prayers. Please offer a prayer for me. In Jesus and Mary, Father Charles White

He is Risen, He is truly Risen! Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord: Our first weekend back in church is the Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord. For

forty days after the Resurrection Our Lord appeared several times to the Apostles and He

taught them many things. He then sent them to teach the nations all that He had taught

them. Our Catholic Faith is Apostolic, which is to say that it has been handed down from

the Apostles, even to our own day. The Church in the world today continues to fulfill

the mission to teach all nations. As baptized Catholics, we share in the mission given by

Our Lord to His Church: we are called to bear witness to our Catholic Faith to those we

meet. We receive Divine Revelation from Scripture and from the Church, it is a gift

given to us to share. Look for ways that you can share your faith with someone this

week.

Next week is the Feast of Pentecost. The Easter season concludes with this Feast

Day. The Feast of Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Mary

and the Apostles. After Our Lord’s Ascension into Heaven, the Apostles continued to

gather in the Upper Room and pray for the promised gift of the Holy Spirit. Once they

received the Holy Spirit, they went out and boldly proclaimed the Gospel. The day of

Pentecost saw the conversion of three thousand people to the Faith. We have received

the very same Holy Spirit, first at Baptism then fully at Confirmation. The Holy Spirit

gives us the grace we need to bear witness to Christ in the world. The strength and

courage we need is available to us through those great Sacraments that we have received.

As the Apostles prayed for the Holy Spirit in the Upper Room, let us pray this week for

an increase in the gifts of the Holy Spirit within us, that we may be bold witnesses to

Christ. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of

Your love. Lord, send forth Your Spirit, and they shall be created. And You shall renew

the face of the earth!

May God bless you! Know of my prayers. Please offer a prayer for me. In Jesus and Mary, Father Charles White

A prayer for Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,

I believe that You

are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love You above all things,

and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment

receive You sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there

and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

New Weekend Mass Schedule

Saturdays 4:30 pm 6:30 pm

Sundays 9:00 am

11:00 am 1:00 pm Traditional Latin Mass

In 2007 Pope Benedict XVI issued the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum. Summorum Pontificum declares that in Her rich Tradition, the Church holds two rites to be in keeping with Her rule of prayer and rule of faith. While the Novus Ordo is the ordinary form of the Mass, the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) is called the extraordinary form of the Holy Sacrifice. Summorum Pontificum states that the Traditional Latin Mass was never abrogated, and that the parish priest should willing accede to the requests of the faithful when a stable group of parishioners request the regular celebration of this ancient and venerable Mass. Here at St. Mary Queen of Creation the conditions expressed above have recently been met, and in accord with this request, Father Charles has graciously agreed to add a Traditional Latin Mass (also called the Extraordinary Form) to the weekend schedule. The Traditional Latin Mass will be offered on Sunday afternoons at 1:00 p.m. Worship aids will be available. You need not know Latin or have any experience with the TLM to attend or to benefit from this rich experience of worship and praise to God.

SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER ASCENSION OF THE LORD EXPLORE THE SUNDAY GOSPEL

The Commissioning of the Disciples MT 28:16-20

The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted. Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."

• In today’s Gospel, we hear about the disciples doubting. Share a time when you doubted your faith.

• What comes to mind when you hear Jesus say, “I am with you always, until the end of the age”?

• What are some ways you can help make someone a disciple?

SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL

Saint Michael the Archangel is an angel, who is the leader of the army of God! Angels—messengers from God— appear frequently in Scripture, but only Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael are named. Michael appears in Daniel’s vision as “the great prince,” who defends Israel against its enemies; in the Book of Revelation, he leads God’s armies to final victory over the forces of evil. Devotion to Michael is the oldest angelic devotion, rising in the East in the fourth century. The Church in the West began to observe a feast honoring Michael and the angels in the fifth century. From tradition and Scripture, we know some of the main things St. Michael focuses on are combatting Satan, helping the faithful to heaven, and being a defender of all Christians and the Church. People call on St. Michael to ask for protection. He is the patron saint of doctors, police, and soldiers.
