Happy New Year!!! Hope every-one had a safe and happy holidayseason.First, I would like to give ashout out to Randy Fitz-Wainwright for the great job shehas done the last two years asCommodore. It is my pleasure to be able toserve as FYC Commodore for2019. We will be looking aheadto a great year with a lot of out-standing things to come in 2019.This month we will have the
GYA winter meetings at FYCJanuary 12 and 13. If you areinterested in learning moreabout the GYA, this meetingwould be great to attend.The Chili Bowl Series will starton Sunday, January 13, and con-tinue January 20 and 27. OnJanuary 27, there will be a ChiliCook-Off contest. Please sign upand participate with your bestchili recipe.In April, we are planning tohaving a drawdown at FYC tohelp raise money to be able topurchase more powerboats forthe club. These boats will help inregattas and junior summer sail-ing. Tickets are $100.00 and canbe split between multiple peopleand sold to friends outside of theclub. Only two people will be per-mitted to enter per ticket forfood, beverage, and entertain-ment. More information to followsoon.

the Club was awarded to MarthaPayne for all she did with regattas tomake the way smooth for the RaceCommittees and the sailors.Trophy for Fall Series went to Teri

We celebrate the end of the year
I believe 2019 will bring someexciting sailing for our juniors.There are plans being made andschedules being set.We have our dates set for our 2019FYC Sail Camp. They will be pub-lished online along with an EmailDrop Box. The link provided onlinewill ask you one question, “what isyour email address.” Type that inthe box and you will receive anemail the day camp registrationopens.

We have some 420 spin and trapclasses in preparation for the 420Mid-Winter Championship inFebruary. Even though we haveonly a couple of boats going we have
rallied several other boats from thecoast area to come practice with us,which will make for some very pro-ductive practices.
Advance opti practice will startsoon to prepare for USODA GulfCoast Champs in early March.
We plan to start our high schoolpractices just as soon as the sunstarts setting later in the day.

Most Improved First Year JuniorBrig Baisch is 8 years old and attends Bayside, in the3rd grade. This was his first summer on the Bay. Hewent from Summer Sailing Camp, rookie camp, Green inthe Alfonso Sutter/Galloway Regatta to sailing Wadewitzin Green Fleet. His first advance race was Opti Mid-Winter, against 250 entries.

Auxiliary December Report
Auxiliary Bazaar successful again!What a success the Christmas Bazaar and
Luncheon turned out to be.The many dedicated committee membersgave it their all and pulled this event togeth-er in 3 weeks time. I am personally so proudof this Committee and Auxiliary membersfor their work and time spent to make thissuch an outstanding event.We sold 116 luncheon tickets ( we wereshooting for 100). The ball room was packed to capacity withvendors andshoppers.Carl Clarkof SouthernVerandagave anexcellentpresentationin the art ofcenter pieceand garlandassemblyusing re-purposeditems addedto some newer pur-chases. Carl left uswith a wealth ofknowledge alongwith several cen-terpieces to sell forour Auxiliary.The 50/50 raffle (split thepot) netted $405.00 dollarswith the lucky winnerreceiving $202.50 . ThankYou to Becky Harris andMolly Cunningham andher friend Christen.Kathy Lambert offeredher Condo in OrangeBeach and 3 designer bags
for the live auction which creat-ed much excitement in the bid-ding process.Attendees enjoyed the silentAuction and the WhiteElephant table. Many wenthome with some real bargains.There was a large assortment
of door prizes to give out. 3 of our members dis-tributed those. Santa Clause drew the numberswhile Mrs. Santa kept the vendors entertainedin the Ball Room.A big shout-out to George, our Chef and thestaff for going beyond to make this all work forus. There have been many compliments fromattendees regarding the great work they per-formed. Thank You to our office manager Pat forher help and so graciously doing everything pos-sible to make things work from her end.
The Auxiliary was treated to a Champagnecelebration at the December 7 luncheonmeeting. We celebrated Christmas with FYC friends
and the success of our Christmas Bazaar, which washeld on Dec 4. The guest speaker was Connie Cazort, a profession-al Storyteller, who shared Christmas Memories andsongs. Kate Gibson held a brief business meeting todiscuss the past year and our future projects. Afterlunch the ladies enjoyed a gift-swapping game andChristmas celebration.The Auxiliary’s focus is now on the Chili Cook-Offon Sunday, Jan 27. All members are encouraged toprepare a pot of chili and sell tickets for this annualevent with prizes for sailing and chili.Auxiliary members pictures for the AuxiliaryRegistry will be made again at our January meetingon Friday, Jan 4.

The Fleet just after rounding the lastmark and heading to the finish.water. The wind was light but steadyat 5-7 out of the SW for the entirerace. Eight boats went around thecourse with 2 flying their spinnakers.The leading 4 boats traded placeswith every tack and stayed closely
clustered the entire race. No boatdropped too far behind though withfinish times spread evenly across 13minutes or so between the super slickspinnaker boat taking first and theheavy traditional racer-cruiser clos-ing out the fleet.And the winners were: 1st placeMOJO. Teri has done a significantjob through out and proved to besomeone to be reckoned with.Congratulations. 2nd place DamnYankee. Rick always seems to be near the front. 3rd place Tigress.
Hope everyone has a nice holidayand gets all the boat stuff you arelooking for. Some of us are lookingfor a whole boat.Next up is the CHILI BOWL
