Brother Knights, I hope you have had a Blessed and Merry Christmas. How different from the past.

Now I wish that you all can have a Prayerful and joyous New Year. Hopefully, as more are vaccinated

and they continue to develop better treatments we will see this pandemic wane. Then we can begin a new

“normal”. Wear a mask and pray.

We just finished the last of the blood drives that Vitalant wished to use our building for in 2020. They

probably will be requesting to use the building in April 2021. Thank you to all the Brother Knights who

    helped make these drives possible.

In the month of December we also concluded “Coats for Kids” by donating over 130 coats (also

gloves, hats and scarves) to Care Lodge for their clients and the children. They were greatly appreciative.

Thank you to all who donated money, coats and time to this project. It is good that we can at least do

something during these times when there is so much we cannot do.

    Chaplain

    Fr. Augustine

    Palimattam

This year our Christmas was accompanied by the anxieties, uncertainties, worries, sufferings, losses

and disappointments caused by the Covid-19. It was in this context of darkness that we celebrated the

joy of the birth of the Lord. There has not been much change in the situation but I am confident and

trust in the Lord, that the light of the Lord will dispel the darkness of this virus from our lives, giving us

a new horizon of hope and faith. May the Lord, who liberates us from the clutches of sin and leads us to

the light of salvation, save the world from the claw of Covid-19 that imperils the life and health of the

    people of our time!

Birth of the messiah in the manger reminds us of the magnanimity of God in making Himself small.

It invites us every day to make ourselves more and more humble in our relationship with God and our

sisters and brothers. Our experiences in the year of Corona 2020 make us to be aware of how small and

powerless we are in spite of our ever enlarged and overconfident knowledge and possibilities.

Covid-19 teaches us the lesson of life that the plans of the Lord are still unfathomable and we need to

prostrate before Him in humility, simplicity and total surrender. I wish you all a blessed 2021.

We will have an in person meeting at 7:30 PM on January 5, 2021. (How long will it be before we are used to writing 2021?)

There are several items that will be brought up at the meeting: They include of course Knight and Family of the Month for

December. Please get me nominations for these honors. Knight of the Quarter, the nominees so far are John Harwell, Darrel

    Hover and David Viger Sr.

We have received the residual of Tommy Beeman’s estate. We need to decide how to bank it as the distributions are made over

the next several years. I have been consulting with trustees about this and a recommendation will be made.

Lastly: Please keep all of our Brother’s and community members who have lost someone to this ugly disease in your prayers.

    William Nix, GK

  • As always, we are “in search of” new members. Seek out those who you believe might be interested and qualified, then plant a seed…

Thank you in advance for your support!

    Brother Knights,

Happy New Year! Happy 2021!! We have survived a very horrific 2020 (COVID-19, Racial Unrest, etc.). Thank you Lord! Tragically, almost 350,000 people did not make it through the year. We pray for their souls and families. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is celebrated Monday, January 18th this year. It is a Federal Holiday America honors the birth, life and dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (Ed. Note: There will be a special Mass at St. Patrick at 9:00) MLK Day is increasingly seen to be a ‘Day of Service’ where Americans are encouraged to volunteer to help others less fortu-nate than themselves. May 2021 be filled with many Happy Blessings for you and your family.

“Membership is truly a team effort!”

Despite the restrictions that the COVID-19 virus has placed us under, our youth were still able to be a part of several programs/activities during December. First back on December 1st, Boy Scout Troop 7 held a Court of Honor and two Scouts were honored with their Eagle Medal. They were Josh Everette and Tate Smith. Both of these young men have been long time members of Troop 7. Both Josh and Tate are also alumni of St. Patrick School. It is also worth noting that their Eagle projects were both at St. Patrick. Josh restriped the St. Patrick Church parking lot and Tate had a new sign made for St. Patrick School and also refurbished the landscaping around the sign. Additionally, Troop 7, as they have been doing for many years, set up the church Nativity scene in front of the church. Special thanks to BK Joe Price, the Scoutmaster, for his work with our troop over the last 20 years.

I hope that Santa Claus was good to all of you. Thanks to Bob Leo, Frank Polizzi, John Harwell, and

Mark Hampson for helping with the "Mash Bash" blood drive on December 29. I think everyone can

agree 2020 can go and that 2021 will be a better year. Thanks to all who helped with various projects

this past year. Here’s hoping that 2021 will be interesting and hopefully by the middle of the year we

can get things somewhat back to normal. Happy New Year.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This year the CANDLELIGHT VIGIL FOR THE PREBORN is on Saturday, January 16, 2021 and will

be held at Foundry Church in Flowood at 6 PM. January 22, 2021, will mark the 48th Anniversary of the

infamous Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision which legalized abortion in the United States for the entire

    nine months of pregnancy.

Wishing all of you a very BLESSED and Happy New Year. LIFE IS A GIFT.

    Darrell, Culture of Life

Next, our youth and school were deeply involved in the Posadas Pilgrimage Pick Up that made a stop in Meridian on December 16th. The dioceses of Birmingham, Jackson and Alexandria combined together to do an outreach to help our neighbors in the Lake Charles, LA diocese. Our community donated a huge amount of bibles, rosaries, catechisms, office supplies, arts/crafts supplies, A/V equipment etc. to help them replenish what they lost to Hurricanes Laura and Delta earlier in the fall. Special thanks to Angela Dove (wife of BK Gary Dove), SK Frank Washington, and Edna Blanks for meeting the truck and helping them to load all the donations. Finally, on December 24th, our youth led the 4PM Christmas Vigil Mass. The virus prevented us from being able to have our Gospel scene or a full choir but I would like to thank the following youth for their participation with the liturgy: Zane, Wes, and Anna Kate Pritchard (children of BK Anthony Pritchard and grandchildren of BK David Newell), Megan Heggie, Helena Rutledge and Cassy Klutz (daughter of SK Dave Klutz and granddaughter of the late SK Dewayne Klutz). I mention Cassy because she had prepared to be the Cantor and lead the music. However, her father contracted the coronavirus a few days before Christmas and she was forced to quarantine and was unable to be at Mass that evening. We are under a Diocesan decree that has PSR and Youth Group activities currently suspended. We are hopeful that after the New Year, those restrictions will be lifted and we will be able to resume those classes and youth programs. Thank you to our Council for the continued strong support of our Catholic Youth and School. It is appreciated! John Harwell PGK 1 COR 12:4-7
