Dear National Youth for Christ, Greetings in the name which is above every name, Jesus Christ, our Lord! I want to welcome all of our members, guests, and friends to our 2014 Fall Jubilee, here in the “Charm City,” of Baltimore, MD. I want to thank our host for this great meeting, none other than our presiding bishop, the Honorable Leroy H. Cannady, Sr. and the wonderful saints of

Refuge Way of the Cross Church. I want to also thank Bishop Willard Saunders and the saints from Created for So Much More Worship Center for opening their sanctuary to our saints for this youth conference.

This year has been an awesome year for the National Youth for Christ in celebrating our 60th Diamond Anniversary. We began in February, by honoring our former National Youth for Christ presidents. In June, we hosted a gala recognizing all former executive officers of the National Youth for Christ. Today, we will conclude our anniversary year by celebrating throughout the day, the founder, first president, and first advisor of the National Youth for Christ, the trailblazer herself, Mother Isabell Brooks Ford. Today, in honor of Mother Ford, turquoise (her favorite color) ribbons are being distributed to everyone to wear in her memory on today. In addition, today, during our mid-day service, we will be recognizing the living former first ladies of the National Youth for Christ: Mother Rose H. Kearney, Mother Cecilia C. Williams, Mother Helen P. Brooks, Mother Janice D. Dillard, Mother W. Gloria Nesmith, and Sister Dornee S. Easley.

I hope that you find that we have an exciting program planned for you today. We have great speakers such as Minister Cordell Easton, Bethel WOTCC, Huntingtown, MD; Bishop Michael Fields, Refuge Temple COOLJC, Washington, DC; and Elder Isaiah Long, Baptized Believers Church, Washington, DC. We are also happy to have as our guest psalmist, Dyron Booker and Divine Destiny, Baltimore, MD. A special highlight for this Jubilee will be our Sons of Zion service and our Daughters of Destiny service featuring an “all boy’s” choir and an “all girl’s” choir. We also have several highly anointed young people who will be speaking during these services. Let us support our young men and women in these great services!

Minister Cordell Easton was raised in the house of the Lord by his parents Deacon Nathaniel Easton and Missionary Casaundra Easton. He was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus at the age of 9 and received the gift of the Holy Ghost by the age of 11. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland

Baltimore County (UMBC).

On October 27, 2001, Minister Easton joined his beautiful wife, Deatrice Renee Easton in holy matrimony. Through this union, the Lord has blessed them with three wonderful children, DeRonte, Courtney and Cortez.

Minister Easton has had the privilege and the honor to serve on various church auxiliaries under the leadership of his former pastors, Bishop Jacob A. Green, Bishop Allen H. Easton, and his current pastor, Bishop Darnell L. Easton. He currently serves as the President of the Bethel Way of the Cross Youth for Christ and had served as an ordained deacon from July 2000 until he was called into the ministry. In December 2012, Minister Easton answered the call into ministry and preached his initial sermon entitled, “What Happened to Your Vision?”, Judges 16:4-21.

Minister Easton has a passion for winning souls for the kingdom of God and loves to help individuals live victoriously through the power of Jesus Christ. Experiencing many struggles and pitfalls in life, he has learned personally about the depth of God’s grace and mercy. These experiences have enabled him to minister to various situations this life can present. Minister Easton is humbled by the calling the Lord has on his life and is dedicated to serving the people of God. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth.” Romans 1:16.

Worship, healing, redemption, restoration, and empowerment are just a few words that describes the mission of Dyron Booker and Divine Destiny.

Since January of 2000, Dyron Booker & Divine Destiny has been privileged to spread the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through music. From their inception their vision has been to promote the reality that God is able to use imperfect people to expand His Kingdom. This is the essence of the grace that is open to all humanity despite our fallen nature.

Dyron Booker and Divine Destiny has been fortunate to inspire lives all across the east coast and the southwest regions of the United States. They have shared the stage with many national artists to include: Tye Tribbett, Kim Burrell, Jonathan Nelson, and John P. Kee.

Now, God has opened up the door for Dyron Booker and Divine Destiny to release to their long awaited debut project “Arise”. Bishop W. Michael Fields was called to the ministry during his early teen years. He has

been ministering in his call to “preach the gospel” since the age of twenty. During his early ministry years, Bishop Fields worked closely with his Father and Pastor at the time, Bishop William G. Fields, as the Youth Pastor and Minister of Music at Refuge Temple Annex, Bronx, New York. He also served as the President and Choir Director for the Bronx Diocese Choir, the Diocese that his Father presides over. As a minister, Minister Fields conducted many revivals and tent services.

In 1987, Elder Fields founded the United Youth Crusade Ministry. This ministry united young people of all denominations throughout the New York Metropolitan area for the purpose of ministering to other young people on the streets of New York through street meetings and outreach. Under this ministry umbrella young people also came together for the purpose of worship, fellowship, ministry workshops, and singing in the United Youth Crusade Ministry Choir. Many souls were blessed, delivered, and saved through this ministry.

On August 12th, 1991, Minister Fields was ordained an Elder of The Churches of our Lord Jesus Christ (hereinafter referred to as COOLJC). In August of 1992, he was appointed National Evangelist for COOLJC. In 1993 he was appointed Assistant Pastor of Refuge Temple Church in Washington, DC, where the Chief Apostle of COOLJC, William L. Bonner, is the Pastor. Elder Fields was elected by his peers on August 11th, 1998, to serve as Corresponding Secretary to the Board of Presbyters of the COOLJC. He is currently a member of The Far East Ministerial Alliance of Washington D.C. And can be heard every 1st and 5th Saturday at Noon on WYCB Radio, 1340 on your AM dial. He is the founder of a work in its’ early stages, The Lazarus Community Development Corporation and W. Michael Fields Ministries. He is a husband, father, song writer, teacher and preacher of the Gospel, prayer warrior, Bible student and proud graduate of the W.L. Bonner Bible College in South Carolina, an accomplished musician, counselor – a servant of Christ. Elder Fields was appointed a District Elder in August 2008, by Bishop Clarence Groover, Sr. District Elder Fields presided over The Capital District of the Mid-Atlantic Diocese for two years. District Elder Fields was recommended and consecrated as a Bishop of the COOLJC in August 2010 by Apostle William L. Bonner. Within the same year, Bishop Fields was appointed Assistant Recording Secretary of the Board of Bishops, COOLJC by the Chairman, Bishop James Darby.

Bishop Fields’ latest ministerial venture, along with his lovely wife, Lady Melissa F. Fields is Ecclesia Online, Inc., This is a non-profit internet ministry designed to keep the Body of Christ in touch with each other; informed, enlightened and encouraged. This edifying ministry website can be located at http://www.ecclesiaonline.net. Bishop W. Michael Fields’ ministry is still thriving and being a tremendous blessing to people across the country.

On March 8th, 2012, a church vote was conducted by Apostle Bonner for the next Pastor of Refuge Temple Church, Washington, DC. After the vote, with the majority of votes in Bishop Fields’ favor, Apostle Bonner named Bishop W. Michael Fields the Pastor of Refuge Temple Church in Washington, D.C.

Elder Isaiah J. Long is the second oldest of six children born to Bishop Bobby L. Long and Evangelist Sylvia Marie Carroll. Isaiah along with his two brothers and three sisters grew up in a Christian home where

they learned from an early age the power of trusting in the Lord…Proverbs 3:5

Isaiah grew up in the DC Maryland Virginia area where he was educated in the public school system. In 1999 Isaiah graduated from Suitland High School in Forestville, MD. In high school Isaiah was a part of many extra-curricular activities to include the football team, basketball team and National Italian Honor Society. After high school Isaiah continued his education by pursuing an undergraduate degree at Waynesburg College in PA for two years then transferring to Morgan State University where he received a bachelor degree in Telecommunications. In 2006 Isaiah answered his call to ministry and soon after enrolled at the Howard University School of Divinity. In 2010 Isaiah graduated from Howard’s School of Divinity receiving his M.Div.

Over the past few years Isaiah’s family has grown beginning in 2008 when he married the former Kamali A. Payton. The two met in college at Morgan State and have since given birth to three boys; Taylor, Micah and Peyton. Their family now resides in Oxon Hill, MD.

Ministry has always been a part of Isaiah’s life. At a young age he could be seen in his living room holding worship service amongst his brothers and sisters with him being the preacher. This was a great past time for him as a child. However, over the years what started as a past time developed into a passion. At the age of twelve Isaiah gave his first sermonette on children’s day in June of 1993 titled “Pray Without Ceasing.” From then on Isaiah began to serve in the youth department of The Way of the Cross Church of Christ under the leadership of, Bishop Alphonzo D. Brooks. Isaiah’s service continued while in college where he was responsible for developing and cultivating three different campus ministries that served the student body. Isaiah became a licensed minister in The Way of the Cross Church of Christ in June 2007. In May of 2011 Isaiah was elevated to the position of Youth Pastor in the Way of the Cross Church of Christ and then in July of 2012 he was ordained as an elder in the church. In February of 2013 Isaiah accepted an opportunity to serve as an assistant pastor of the Baptized Believers Church under the leadership of his father, Bishop Bobby L. Long and in August of 2014 Isaiah was installed as Pastor of Baptized Believers Church where he is now currently serving.

Isaiah continues striving to win lost souls for the Kingdom of God through the use of a practical and relevant presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Isaiah believes in the ability of the Holy Spirit to work through him and holds fast to the scripture found in Philippians 4:13 in which the Apostle Paul states, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”

God has been gracious and benevolent to us since our last national meeting. In June we were honored to be the host city for the 60th Diamond Anniversary National Youth for Christ Convocation. At the conclusion of the convocation, we were able to celebrate, to the day, and to the hour, our 5th church anniversary by having our church chartered. Special thanks to Vice Bishop Earley Dillard, General Sec-retary Ronald Frazier, Bishop Carl Miller, Bishop Keith Nesmith, and NYFC 2nd Vice President, Elder Christopher S. Hairston for support-ing the service.

On Sunday, July 6th we were bless-ed to move to a new location: 5710 Orcutt Lane. On this day we cele-brated our 5th church anniversary with our annual Founders’ Friends and Family Fellowship. During the summer we were blessed with var-ious guest speakers including: Dis-trict Elder Kenneth Chism and Res-toration House International on July 20th and Bishop Darrell Hairston, Shiloh Temple WOTCC, Charlotte, NC on Sunday, August 3rd. Indeed our 5th church anniversary was an anniversary to never forget!

During the month of August our Women’s Ministry held a Rain-bow Tea at St. Michael Episcopal Church. This was a great fundrais-er and fellowship for the church. Also during the month of August our church was blessed to have our annual Back-to-School Rally. Prior to the event, our evan-gelistic team passed out flyers and information about our church to approximately 1000 homes in our new commu-

nity. At the service we were blessed to have a record number in attendance including a record number of first time-visitors. As a result, as promised by our pastor, Elder Travis participated in the “Ice Bucket Challenge” after service to commemorate the success of the event.

During the month of September we were graced with a number of great speakers in-cluding: COOLJC-ABYPU International Chaplain, Min-ister Dwayne Morris on Fri-day, September 5th and Pas-tor Harry Woodley and saints from Spiritual Aid WOTCC, Hampton, VA on Sunday, September 28th. During the month of September we had our annual W.I.S.E. (Wom-en in Search of Excellence) Weekend with guest speakers: Missionary Keisha Johnson, Burning Light WOTCC, Bal-timore, MD; First Lady Patri-cia Lawson, One Accord Min-istries (COOLJC), Richmond, VA; and First Lady Mary Fitzgerald, Burning Light WOTCC, Baltimore, MD. The theme for the conference this year was “Designed for Purpose.” We praise God for a great Women’s Weekend.

On Friday, September 26th, we were favored with an “Ap-ostolic Visit” from Presiding Bishop Leroy H. Cannady, Sr. Bishop Cannady came and gave encouraging words to the congregation, prayed over each member, and blessed

our new place of worship. We are eternally grateful for blessing us with such a servant-leader as our presiding bishop, Bishop Cannady!

On Saturday, October 4th we held our second annual community day, “Fall Festival.” During this event we had outdoor services, fish fry, bake sale, bounce houses, health screening, and a sanctuary full of free clothes. During this event we were able to meet and interact with numerous neighbors and talk with them about the ministry. Pray for us as we strive to impact our community for our Lord Jesus Christ!

Praise the Lord from Jerusalem WOTCC! We are excited to share what the Lord has been doing in Rocky Mount!

The 3rd Sunday of each month is designated as “Youth Sunday” at Jerusalem WOTCC. The youth are encouraged to participate fully in every aspect of the service this day and are in charge of opening up Sunday school devotion, rendering the music for the service, giving the morning welcome, assisting with the offertory part of the service and much more! The youth always arrive with excitement on Youth Sunday and continue to do a great job with giving God their all on “their” day.

On Saturday, July 26, the youth department and the events committee hosted our annual “YOUTH FUN DAY!” This year, the fun day was held on the grounds of Jerusalem WOTCC and consisted of community participation singing, fabulous food, inflatables for the kids and adults, horseback riding with great fun and fellowship! The events were open to the public and a blessed time was had by all!

We thank God for blessing the youth, teachers, and school officials of Jerusalem with a safe and enjoyable start to the new 2014-15 school year! We also give thanks to God for our youth who have started their college journey this fall (Bro. Nicholas Hairston, Sis. R’Necia Clements, and Bro. Dustin Hurt) and for all of our youth who have returned to college (Bro. Travis Johnson, Sis. Miranda Jamison, Sis. Desirae Jamison, Sis. Khadijah Grogans, Sis. Deborah Wearing, and Sis. Donna Kidd). We pray God’s continued blessings upon them and upon all of our youth looking for another successful school year!

On Monday September 1, Pastor Adams and a portion of the youth department journeyed to the campus of Ferrum College to participate in their annual Praise on the Patio event. This year, the youth were led to organize a “D.O.T.S” theme for the event. In addition to offering the college students bags filled with necessities and goodies, the students were also offered a box of the “DOTS” candy and were encouraged by the Jerusalem youth to “Depend On The Savior” throughout the course of the school year. Information about Jesus was also shared with these students and each of them received a warm invitation to worship with us at Jerusalem during our scheduled services. It was truly a blessed event.

Every 3rd Saturday is designated as youth choir rehearsal and

youth activity. On September 20, the youth enjoyed a pizza party and bowling. They were delighted to have Pastor Adams support them and learn a few bowling tips as he accompanied the youth to the bowling center.

The 5th Annual Youth Harvest Fest Celebration was held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 7 pm. Music was rendered by the Jerusalem WOTCC Praise Team, Jerusalem WOTCC Youth Choir and Jubilee Choir. Our special guest speaker for this event was our very own National Youth for Christ President, Eld. Travell Travis, founder and pastor of the City of Refuge WOTCC!

The month of October is “Clergy A p p r e c i a t i o n Month.” We certainly love and appreciate our pastor, Eld. Cleive E. Adams, Jr. for his dedication, his love for the flock, his advocacy for prayer and fasting, and for his consistency in supporting the youth. We also thank God for our assistant pastor, Eld. Charles W. Hairston and our associate minster, Min. Richard C. Clements and all that they do to support and encourage the youth. God has been and still is doing great things with the youth of Jerusalem WOTCC. Continue to keep us in your prayers. God Bless!

Blessings and greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ! Giving thanks to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ at all times. The Lord has truly been pouring out His blessings here at Shiloh WOTCC, spiritually and naturally. God is awesome and worthy of all the honor, glory, and praise! We can’t thank Him enough for all He has done!

On Sunday June 29, our Awards program in “Recognition of Excel-lence and Achievement” was held. Twenty-one students received an award and monetary gift for their outstanding accomplishments. Bro. Herman Dodson, retired Martins-ville City School Teacher and Army National Guard retiree, was the mo-tivational speaker speaking from Matthew 6:25-33 and Genesis 13:12 “Leaving Home and Getting Caught Up,” 1 Timothy 6:3-11 “May Come Back To You”…be an asset instead of a liability.

On Saturday, July 12, the church traveled to Rockbridge County, VA for an outing at Natural Bridge Park and Zoo. The weather was sunny and beautiful, contributing to a most enjoyable day. The youth (as well as adults) enjoyed the petting zoo, feeding the animals, and of course the amazement of the Natural Bridge National Historic Landmark.

Back-to-school night was on Sunday, August 10. Every-one, pre-school thru college, were given a “Go Green” reusable bag of school supplies which included pens, pencils, crayons, color pencils, notebooks, paper, eras-ers, sharpeners, index cards, folders, binders, rulers, and a prayer insert from Bishop Dillard. Teachers, bus drivers, and school staff workers were also presented with person-al gift bags with a prayer insert.

On Sunday, August 17, Elder Harvey Hale of San An-tonio, TX was guest speaker in a one night “Back-to-

School” Revival service. Speaking from Isaiah 38:1-5 and a topic “You Pray Until Something Happens!” The glory of God filled the house and one youth received the Holy Ghost during this service! What a way to start the school year—a youth baptized in Jesus’ name in the morning ser-vice and a youth being filled with the Holy Ghost in the

evening service! What a blessed and high time we had all day.

Shiloh traveled to Rocky Mount, VA on August 24 where the bless-ing of God was enjoyed with the saints of Jerusalem WOTCC. Bishop preached from Jeremiah 18:1-9, Romans 9:13-18 “The Potter’s House Part 1.” What a great service this was!

On August 30, Bishop Dillard and the Shiloh family traveled to the Garden of Prayer Church, Roanoke, VA where the pastor is Pastor Shadrack Brown. What a great service this was. Bishop’s message was from Genesis 25:19-26, topic “A Plan, But A Strug-gle”. What a great Word this was! Elder Christopher Hairston and

saints from Triumph WOTCC joined us in this service.

On September 25, our Youth for Christ walked the com-munity campaigning for souls. “Come Join Us For Ser-vice” invitation flyers were left with each household…a total of 125 flyers were distributed. This is a monthly mis-sion for our youth implemented by our local youth presi-dent, Deacon Darius Simms.

On September 28, Elder Douglas Hosmer of Syracuse, NY was guest speaker in a one-night revival service here at Shiloh, speaking from Joshua 6:1-5; 16-17 on “It’s Al-ready In Your Hand.” Our souls were blessed as the glory of God filled the house!

Bishop and Sister Dillard, went on an Alaskan Cruise aboard the Norwegian Jewel. Places visited with tours included Seattle, WA, Ketchikan, Juneau, Cruised Sawyer Glacier, Skagway, AK, and Victoria, British Columbia. It was a most enjoyable trip with beautiful sunny weather each day. The cruise ship captain and people throughout the places visited stated they have not had weather this clear and beautiful during this time of year in a long time. We thank God for His blessings and traveling mercies at all times.

Every Monday at 7:30 pm, we have a youth music teaching class where the youth are taught how to play instruments.

On September 14, 2014, we had a blessed and successful outdoor Back-to-School (Friends and Family) Service where we distributed food and school supplies to the community.

On October 1, 2014 we restarted our New Dimension Bible Institute.

On October 11, 2014, the youth had a bowling outing at Wallington Lanes in Wallington, NJ at 6:30pm.

is doing in our midst. There are great things that are happening and taking place in city of Huntingtown, MD:

Over the past few months Bethel’s youth have been engaged in several services, accomplishments, and various church activities.

Church Services/Activities:Our youth department has been very busy in the last couple of months. It has been such a blessing for our young people. We are growing and progressing, working for the kingdom and striving to please God in all that we do. Please be praying for our youth body as a whole, for we wrestle day to day with the enemy and his tactics. Pray that we stay unified and continue to hold up the bloodstained banner. Bethel’s youth as a whole will continue to pray for you.

Truly the Lord is moving by His Spirit at Bethel WOTCC, our YFC Ministry is on fire for the Lord and we are inspired, encouraged, and determined to keep the fire burning.

On June 19-20, 2014, Bethel held revival with the theme “Moving Beyond the Norm.” The speakers were Elder Isaiah Long and Elder Darius Hicks. Truly the unadulterated word was preached. We are moving beyond the norm, doing what the Spirit of the Lord instructs us to under the leadership of our pastor and youth president.

Youth Ministry enjoyed our 60th Diamond Convention in Richmond, VA. Bethel’s Teen Ministry participated in the various seminars being conducted during the convention. They really enjoyed their fellowship with the other Way of the Cross churches. They volunteered with the NYFC Children’s Church, with First Lady Latisha Carter of Open Heart WOTCC. We were certainly blessed to come in 2nd place in the NYFC Bible Bowl. We would like to take the opportunity to thank Bethel’s Elite team members: Sis. Selena Spriggs, Sis. Dejah Coates, Sis. Cayla Chase, Sis. Jonetta Dorsey, and Sis. Monica Swann. Special thanks to Bethel’s Elite coaches: Sis. Carlene Chase and Min. Cory Cromwell. Also, a big thanks to the parents who supported the team and sacrificed their time to help their children learn the word of God in a fun way.

Bethel held Vacation Bible School the week of July 7-11, 2014.

The theme was: “It’s a Jungle Safari.” Min. Cory Cromwell taught the youth class. We focused on: God being the creator, God being a provider, a Savior, King, and Protector. Our Young Adult Ministry was in the Adult Class. There, Min. Troy Chew, Min. Cordell Easton, and some of the ministerial staff taught. We fellowshipped together and had a great time in the LORD.

The Teen Ministry sponsored a service on July 20, entitled “The Importance of Receiving the Holy Ghost.” Elder O’Brien Echols expounded upon the word of God, explaining to the Youth the importance of having the Holy Ghost. Some of the youth expressed questions about the Holy Ghost. Our very own teen leader, Sis. Cayla Chase, spoke words of encouragement to her peers that night as well. We went into the HOLY GHOST IMPACT ZONE, where the Holy Ghost impacted the people of God. Many souls were on the altar seeking for the Holy Ghost. The POWER OF GOD swept through the place. Many were restored, healed, and delivered.

The youth bible classes are a success and our youth are excited about the Word of God. We are blessed to have our very own ministers and elders teach these anointed classes.

The 70th Holy Convocation was a time of fellowship, reflection, and celebration. It was a new experience for some of our new youth that had never experienced fellowship of this magnitude before.

We congratulate our pastor, Bishop Darnell Easton, who was installed to the Executive Board of Bishops during this convocation. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

On August 12-14, 2014, the Youth Ministry held a Back-to-School Revival. Our theme was “And Yokes Shall Be Destroyed Because Of the A n o i n t i n g . ” The word was preached by a

dynamic guest preacher of South Carolina, Elder Tyquan Sparks. Yokes were destroyed, souls revived, restored, and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. Sis. Dasia Chew and Sis. Dejah Coates professed that they received the gift of the Holy Ghost during the revival.

Teen Ministry did an outstanding job serving during the dinner hour in support and servantship of our Youth Advisor.

On August 23, 2014, the Young Adult Ministry coordinated a Crab Feast at J. King’s Crab House in Gambrills, MD. It was an awesome time of food, fund, and fellowship! #LiveLaughLoveBethel WOTCC hosted the WOTCC, Intl. 2014 Northern Region Conference & Mid-Atlantic Diocese Service on September 27, 2014. Many of our youth participated in many of the services. What a time...what a time, we had at our diocese service this year. Our pastor, Bishop Darnell Easton was installed as the Mid-Atlantic Diocesan. The Youth Ministry wants to say Congratulations to our pastor. We are proud of you.

The Teen Ministry hosted their first Youth Lock-In Fellowship on October 3-4 from 8pm-7am. Many of the teens expressed they had an amazing time with the various activities of the night. From the powerful worship, to a bonfire fellowship, where Sis. Cayla Chase talked about living a transformed life, as well as the many games played via Xbox and board games. Later in the night they watched a movie and discussed the deceptions of the enemy and how he is trying to grab the younger generation and stop them from serving God. Oh and let’s not forget the delicious food! The teens had a great time and are looking to the future for more lock-in fellowships.

OUTREACH:On August 16, 2014, our Youth Ministry coordinated a backpack drive in the community. Our youth were blessed to distribute backpacks in front of the K-Mart in Prince Frederick, MD. Outreach never felt better; witnessing to the community while distributing school supplies, Apostolic tracks, and backpacks. We witnessed receptive hearts, hugs, and handshakes. The Lord is Awesome!

The Young Adult Ministry continues to visit the sick and support other ministries in the community.

BETHEL YOUTH SPOTLIGHT:We want to say congratulations to Sis. Khadijah Janey on her acceptance to and first year at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Congrats Sis. Khadijah and remember to keep God first in all you do, especially your studies.

BAPTISMS AND REDEDICATIONS:God is adding to His kingdom daily!

Bro. Laurence Reid was baptized on Sunday, October 5, 2014. Congratulations Bro. Reid and may God continue to keep you and bless you as you start your new walk with Christ.

Please save the date and join us this year for our Homecoming and you will be the blessed one!

Bethel’s Youth Ministry is planning a great Christmas play this year. Please keep the ministry in your prayers as we prepare to minister during Christmas time. Pray the success of the event and that God gets all the glory in all we do.

Please continue to keep our youth department, youth leaders, and youth directors in your prayers. The enemy knows the good work that is going on here in Huntingtown, MD and we want to pray that God continue to keep us and work through us for there are souls who are lost and need to know they can find a friend in Jesus by our witness. COULD THE EBOLA VIRUS SPREAD EASILY IN THE U.S.? Because of global travel, the Ebola virus could enter the U.S., but the CDC note that there is little reason to be worried about the spread of Ebola in the U.S. and here is why:

HOW IS IT SPREAD? The virus spreads by direct contact with a sick person’s blood or body fluids (sweat, saliva, blood, or excrement), indirect contact with items that may be contaminated with bodily fluids, or contact with infected animals.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS? Symptoms include:

People with Ebola generally are not infectious until they are sick. This means there’s usually a clue that someone might be contagious—such as fever, aches, or diarrhea.

It’s extremely unlikely that someone would catch Ebola from simply being on the same plane or in the same public space with someone who was infected. That’s because the virus is not spread through airborne transmission like the flu and other respiratory illnesses.

In order to catch Ebola, you have to touch the bodily fluids of an infected person and then get the virus into your body by, for example, touching food and eating it.

Praise the Lord youth and greetings from Triumph Church! We are truly grateful for the experiences

God has blessed us with since the last time we reported in The Messenger. We would like to share a few of those with the body of Christ.

At the time of this publication, none of our students have yet to receive their first report card (October 29), but interim reports share that Bro. Guerson, Sis. Enaya, Sis. Jordan, Bro. Ethan, Bro. Israel, and Lil’ Miss Roni are all doing well at the start of this new school year. Bro. Ethan is playing USA NFL Flag Football 10U and his team, the Panthers, are 6-1. They have one more game to go! Eld. Chris is his coach. Bro. Israel is playing Roanoke County recreational tackle football 8U on the Vinton Terriers. His team finished the regular season undefeated on October 18! They are now in the playoffs, hoping to make it to the Tri-County Sandlot Superbowl on November 8 at Salem Stadium. Bro. Israel is also participating in the Gifted Art Program After School at W.E. Cundiff Elementary.

Triumph Church held Friends and Family Day on Sunday, July 22, at Vineyard Park. We enjoyed a day of food, fun, and fellowship. The attendance was great and we had a wonderful fellowship service. Eld. Chris preached an encouraging message under the shelter. There was plenty of food and games for everyone to enjoy. Our prayer is that all those who visited will continue to seek to be fed by the word of the Lord.

On August 16, God blessed us to invite District Elder Melvin Easley, Jr., National Evangelist and NYFC Advisor, as our guest speaker for the Back-to-School Revival. God blessed us with fresh word and teaching during this fellowship. Eld. Easley brought his message, I Am Anointed to Face the Giant; I Have All I Need, from I Samuel 17:32-37. Following the message, we distributed bags of supplies and snacks to the children in attendance and had the man of God pray over them. District Elder Easley was also an encouragement to our pastor and his family following the service, depositing words of wisdom about outreach and effective witnessing. This was certainly a blessed weekend!

Our fifth anniversary celebration was a success and God blessed us through his manservants. Our theme this year was Jeremiah 29:11, You’re in the Plan. Elder Rontrell Brim was our first guest speaker on Sunday, September 21, preaching from Acts 5:12-20, 27-29, and 40-42. The message was entitled Standing Up for Jesus. The Spirit of God used Eld. Brim to bless our souls. We congratulate our friend and brother, Eld. Brim on his recent elevation and for allowing God to work through him during our anniversary. On Sunday, September 28, God continued the teaching from the previous month from Eld. Easley by sharing outreach opportunities with us again through District Elder Alfred Jones and Jesus Center WOTCC from Appomattox, VA. Words cannot adequately describe what we experienced and how it has already begun to change us and how we approach each day and ministry to those in need, saved and unsaved. Coincidentally, Eld. Easley and Eld. Jones did not know that Eld. Hairston had been talking about outreach in previous weeks. So the Lord just confirmed our assignment! Eld. Jones took his text from John 14:12, Ephesians 3:20, and Matthew 6:33. The title of the message was Experiencing God. This was not your traditional message or fellowship service. He and his members ministered to us how they would if they were ministering to others in their community or day-to-day encounters. We were in the parking lot of the church and received a lot of attention by passersby as Eld. Jones brought his Sweet Jesus ice cream truck and his truck hauling a casket…a message divinely assigned and inspired by God to Eld. Jones. His members broke up into teams and shared with us their various methods of daily outreach. We cannot thank God enough for how He laid it on Eld. Jones and Jesus Center to fellowship with Triumph in this manner. It was much needed and right on target! Jerusalem WOTCC came by to bless us on Sunday, October 5, with good old-fashioned foot stomping, hand clapping, tongue-talking church! Elder Clieve Adams took his text from Psalms 46 and Psalm 91. His message was entitled, Don’t Worry, Be Happy; God’s Got It! It is truly an enjoyable time when we fellowship with our brothers and sisters from Jerusalem! We concluded our fifth anniversary celebration on Sunday, October 12, in Sunday Celebration service with a slide show of the last

five years and a “keynote address” from our pastor, Eld. Christopher S. Hairston, on what the future holds at Triumph if we catch hold of the vision and hang on. He also recapped all the wonderful messages and teachings we experienced over the previous weeks. We also celebrated pastor appreciation month and the members and visitors blessed Eld. Hairston with words of encouragement and gifts. Following the service, and what has become a Triumph tradition, the saints and visitors traveled to The Homeplace Restaurant in Catawba, VA, to conclude the anniversary and pastor appreciation. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously!

Lastly, we thank God for blessing us to have visitors with us for Sunday Celebration on October 19 who were in town for services at the Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Again fulfilling the outreach teaching recently received that we can minister to anybody, anywhere, at anytime. God bless the members of Triumph for seizing an opportunity for ministry.

We want to thank everyone who has blessed Triumph Church with your prayers, fellowship, donations, encouraging words, and monetary support over the last five years. We would not be where we are presently without you and without the help of the Lord. Now we continue to look forward, because we know greater is coming!

On October 12, 1920, Isabell Lucille Brooks was born in Franklinton, North Carolina, the first child of the late Henry Chauncey and Willie Shaw Brooks. About a year

later, the family moved to the District of Columbia where the family grew to a total of four boys and eight girls. Isabell received her education in the pub-lic school of the District of Columbia, graduating from Cardoza High School. She studied voice and music at the Howard University School of Fine Arts and Music. Circumstances dictated that she forego her desire for an education in music, so she decided to become a hairdresser, and studied at the Apex School of Cosmetology.

When she was eight years of age, Isabell’s parents along with four others started The Way of the Cross Church of Christ. After being bap-tized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and receiving the precious gift of the Holy Ghost, she began what became many years of ser-vice in the House of the Lord. Her mother arranged for her to have pi-ano lessons, and she began to play and sing for services. The church grew rapidly, and when there were enough children, a Sunshine Band was formed with Isabell as pianist. Every Sunday, for a while, the group sang the only songs she knew how to play – “Jesus Loves Me” and “Jesus Wants Me for a Sun-beam.”

As a teenager she became the first director and pia-nist for the Junior Choir, a group that soon became a mainstay in worship services. Later she organized a choir for toddlers (the Cherubims), the 10-14 Choir, and the Youth Choir. During the early 1950’s, she organized the Christian Lites, a singing ensemble that performed in the Washington metropolitan area; and when the Senior Choir lost its director, she took on the responsibility. She eventually gave directing

choirs to others, but continued to be a member of the choir. Upon inception of the Pastor’s Choir, she di-rected this choir until a director could be found; and in the early 1980’s, organized the Consoling Choir to furnish music for funerals.

In October 1945, at the age of 25, she was wed to Richard J. Ford, Jr. They had four children – Debo-rah, Richard III, Bernadette, and Reginald, and later became the foster parents of four more. During World War II, Isabell worked at the Treasury Department, but upon completion of her studies in Cosmetology,

worked in several noted Washing-ton area beauty salons. She stopped work to raise her children but re-turned years later as a volunteer for the D.C. Board of Elections. She eventually became a permanent em-ployee and worked until she retired in 1989.

When the Junior Ushers were or-ganized, Isabell was one of the first members. She also worked in the Church Nursery and taught Sun-day School. Early in the 1950’s Sis. Ford became overseer of the Young People’s Union. In February

1954, Sis. Isabell reorganized the youth department and renamed it the Youth for Christ. Later that year, she requested and received permission to make the Youth for Christ a national auxiliary. After serving as founder and first president for many years, Isabell retired from active service and became the National Advisor to the National Youth for Christ.

Sis. Isabell was affiliated with For the Love of Chil-dren, the Toastmaster’s Club, and the Business and Professional Women’s Club. For a time, she was Di-rector of Music at the Florida Avenue Baptist Church. She was a PTA member at the various schools attend-ed by her children and foster children.

The 1950’s also found Sis. Isabell providing help to clean the church, for she organized the Busy Bees. To teach young women church etiquette and social graces, she became overseer of the Single Girls Club, later named the “Pollyannas.” Seeing the need for a forum in which to address women’s is-sues, she organized the Women’s Council and was elected the first president. She was re-elected con-tinuously until her death. She was a missionary for 37 years, having travelled internationally to Cana-da, Ghana, and Liberia. Sis. Isabell was a member of the Floral Club, the Pastor’s Aid Club, the Will-ing Worker’s Club, the New Members’ Commit-tee, the Drug and Alcohol Outreach Ministry, and co-chairman of the Building Fund.

Sis. Isabell served as a Washington representative to the Convention Planning Committee, chairing the committee for two years. She was co-chair of the subcommittee to prepare the magazine to com-memorate the 50th Convocation Anniversary. A

After her 70th birthday, in October 1990, her brother and pastor, Bishop Alphonzo D. Brooks, appointed her Mother of the church, for among those who were there at its inception, only she remained alive. The national organization subsequently honored her in like man-ner.

On Sunday, May 29, 1994, Mother Isabell slipped away to be at rest. Known for her zest for living, Mother Isabell loved the arts and traveled to many places. She was a dedicated wife and mother. She loved her family, but most of all, she loved the Lord! Oftentimes you could hear her proclaim the motto of the National Youth for Christ: “Put Christ first and foremost in your life.” She was an “idea” person, continually thinking of ways to do things and to help others as well as direct the talents of others.
