What’s New

We have revamped the newsletter, revamped Notary2Pro and we have added a few new items to our

Graduate Website.

Notary2Pro is in it’s 9th year and we are so grateful. We have more graduates then we can count and

we keep adding to the list. Speaking of list, if you are a Notary2Pro Grad please check the Elite list and

let us know of any changes, or if you are no longer working.

We were represented at the recent NNA Conference by a Notary2Pro graduate (see our article page 4).

We want to thank Phyllis Traylor for representing us and the NNA for inviting us.

All articles in their entirety can be found on www.notary2pro.com

Signature SYNC is a platform built on top of Signature's core processes, technology, and professional network of Notary Signing Agents.

SYNC (Secure Your Notary Closer) provides title companies and lenders with a cost effective vendor management solution to manage their own closings in-house while still having the support of Signature's full-service scheduling and post-closing teams when they need it.

As a Signing Agent, it will provide many more signing opportunities for you as large national title com-panies and lenders have begun to pilot the system and soon will process their orders via this platform.

Signings will be branded with the logo of the company submitting the order and you will communicate

directly with these companies. Signature will still pay you and issue a 1099 at year-end and maintains

the compliance aspect for background checks, Notary Certificates, etc.

Student Spotlight: Judy JeongStudent Spotlight: Judy JeongStudent Spotlight: Judy JeongStudent Spotlight: Judy Jeong I recently interviewed a recent graduate of Notary2Pro., Judy Jeong. Judy is one of many “success” stories we have of our graduates getting work. Her philosophy is, “I strive to be the best Notary and Signing Agent, that means I will make mistakes, but I will fix them right away and take responsibility. I will continue my education so I am up to date on the newest laws and changes.” Judy also believes that hard work and Marketing pays off to her success; “If you are not getting business, ask yourself why? What are you doing to get business? You have to reach out to people, that means MARKET-

ING!!!!! Even if you have signed up with 100+ companies, it is time to reconnect with these companies. Time to pound the pavement and make appearances at the local Banks, Attor-ney’s Offices, Bail Bonds, Hospitals, Senior Centers and the list goes on. And the hardest thing to do, is spend money when you are not making money. It takes money to make mon-ey. Place that Google Ad, think of yourself as the consumer. When you need to look for a business, what do you do? Google it, right? Then after Google, you Yelp to see what people are saying. So have a Google Ads connected to your website, as well as a Yelp link. Do not depend on just Signing Companies to call you, you have to look outside of Signing Compa-nies for income as well. My experience is very limited, but one week, most of my signings might be from Signing Companies, the next week, all direct calls from banks, and General Notary Work. You have to market yourself so that if one source of income is dry one week, like no signing companies calling, then you might get calls for General Notary Work. This is why it is important to work on marketing all the time. Think about how much money is spent on advertising from large companies, these companies have their brand established already, and they continue to spend on advertising. Makes sense, out of sight, out of mind. VERY IMPORTANT!!! You cannot get assignments if you do not answer your phone. The signing that I was paid very well for was because I answered my phone. The client had called 5 other Notaries, and I was the first person to answer after 5PM on a Thursday night. The GNW that paid $225 for 30 mins of work was the same, I was the 7th Notary the client had called, no one was available or answered their phone. That is why marketing yourself is so crucial. See Page 5 for more on Judy.

VERIFY I-9, LLC was launched in 2007 as a bootstrap, second home business. E-Verify® is a web-based pro-gram that employers can use to verify that their new hires are eligible to work in the United States. . In 2016, in response to requests from our E-Verify® clients, we added a service in which we completed Form I-9 for their remote hires by partnering with a local Notary Public. We decided to work with notaries because, although the form doesn’t require notariza-tion, notaries are accustomed to meeting with people and working with official documents. We soon discovered that Form I-9 wasn’t something that notaries did on a regular basis. In fact, many that we contacted believed that it was illegal for notaries to complete the form (it isn’t). We found ourselves edu-cating our service providers each time on how to com-plete the form, so it was fortunate that the caseload was low.

In January 2017, everything changed. Practically over-

night, the caseload went from one or two a week to

almost a hundred a month. We scrambled to build a

network of service providers across the country. We

sent hundreds of emails each week to notaries but,

with no reputation and a weird job offer, we got plenty

of “no, thank you’s”, despite the fact that we allow

Notaries in our network to set their own service rate,

unlike other similar services.

In April, I received a call from Carol Ray. One of her graduates had received our spammy-looking email and, like a mother hen protecting her brood, Carol called to check us out. And we are glad that she did.

Page 3

Seeing an opportunity for her graduates in our ser-vice, she began encouraging them to join our network and even developed a short course on Form I-9. We quickly realized that Notary2Pro graduates out-performed non-grads in every service aspect includ-ing professionalism, efficiency and accuracy. We be-gan giving N2P grads preference on assignments. Our remote I-9 service continues to grow at astro-nomical rates; in fact, the monthly case volume has already doubled twice this year. We assign service requests to N2P grads at every opportunity and, in some areas are using grads exclusively. We have also relied on Carol’s students for several special projects. Last year, a Los Angeles Notary and N2P graduate completed over 40 forms associated with a business acquisition. Earlier this year, another N2P graduate accepted an assignment to complete 80 forms over a four-day period in Houston. Both were selected because they had demonstrated a level of professionalism and reliability not found in non-N2P graduates.

The future is bright and unlimited for Verifyi9 and the N2P graduates in our service provider network. Case volume will continue to increase. Our long-term growth plan includes a couple of related services for which we hope to rely on specially-trained N2P gradu-ates.

Partnering with Carol Ray and Notary2Pro was the

smartest business decision that we made last year,

and it’s a partnership that we hope will continue for

years to come.

Meet Phyllis Traylor. She is one

of many of our graduates from Notary2Pro.

Phyllis is retired from the US Ar-my, is a Notary Public & Profes-sional Trainer, and owns her

own business in San Antonio, My San Antonio No-tary.

Phyllis was recently nominated as a 2018 NNA Notary of the Year Honoree. She has a Master’s Degree in Adult and Higher Education. She has been a teacher in higher institutions and current-ly teaches a course for Texas Notaries Public. Phyllis is also a certified trainer for our Nota-ry2Pro course; and recently represented us at the most recent NNA Conference.

When asked about how she started she had this to say: “I had a couple of friends who were working as Signing Agents, and I thought it was something that I could do full time. One of the friends worked part time, the other worked full time. It seemed to be an interesting venture, and some-thing that I did not have to learn entirely from scratch because I had a background in Real Es-tate.”

When asked about her training she stated, “Initially, I took one online course, from one of the large national notary organizations. However, after completing the course, I did not feel confi-dent about what I was expected to do as a signing agent. So, I had my friend go over a loan package with me. I was still not as confident as I felt I should have been. Finally, I came across the Nota-ry2Pro online training, which made all the differ-ence in the world. After completing Notary2Pro, I understood my role and responsibilities as a No-tary Signing Agent.”

Page 4

What Makes Phyllis stand out in this industry is simple, “I use an answering service so I always have a live person answering my phone. This al-lows me to work with clients and not have to worry about missing phone calls. My customers appreciate the fact that their calls are answered and returned.”

Phyllis is successful because she not only works hard but also markets her company. She uses a combination of online advertising, print advertis-ing, social media advertising and networking.

When asked about giving advice to someone first starting out Phyllis stated, “Develop a business plan, work with a counselor at the Small Busi-ness Administration. Take advantage of the free business training offered by the Small Business Administration. Get properly trained as a Nota-ry Signing Agent and a Notary Public. Invest in training, and become an expert in the field. Also find a mentor.”

If you aren’t getting work Phyllis had this piece of advice. “Iwould recommend that they take a more aggressive marketing approach, and possi-bly increase their marketing budget, along with actively participating in network organizations.”

Phyllis is successful because she tries to stay on top of all the calls and email requests she re-ceives. She said that it is easy to let something fall through the cracks when you are super busy. She works extra hard to make sure she responds to all phone calls and other inquires.

What makes me different/stand out and what do I do to make myself successful? Success is about grit, what will you do to make it, are you self-motivated to succeed? Do you need someone to push you? Because of my circum-stances while growing up, I had a drive from an early age to be successful. I wish everyone success, but remember suc-cess is about grit, you get what you put into it. If I can help just one person succeed that has read this article, I have made a difference and that makes me happy. Judy’s complete article is on Notary2Pro under the home tab.
