The Municipal Veterinary Officer of JMC Dr. Zafar Iqbal along with
field staff conducted routine stray cattle drive in different areas.
On the directions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr.
Manmohan Singh (KAS), The Municipal Veterinary Officer of JMC Dr. Zafar Iqbal
along with field staff conducted routine stray cattle drive in the areas of Gandhi
Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Channi Himmat, Trikuta Nagar, Rail Head, Jewel, Rehari,
Paloura, Janipur etc.
The said drive was conducted keeping in view the traffic congestion in the
above said areas as well as the complaints from the general public which are pouring
in the office regarding stray animals, as the stray animals is one of the main cause of
accidents. During the drive Veterinary wing lifted 11 numbers of stray animals
including cow and cow calf from those areas and impounded in Dogra Hall cattle
pond. The Jammu Municipal Corporation continuously conducting stray cattle drive
on routine basis.
The JMC appeals to all the animal owners not to leave their animals on
roadsides, as they create obstruction in free flowing of vehicular movements and also
create danger to their lives too. If any animal owner found doing so, an action as
warranted under J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000 shall be taken against animal
owner.

Swachh Survekshan Kick-Off workshop
As per instructions of Ministry of Urban Development Govt. of India and under
the able guidance of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Dr. Manmohan
Singh, (KAS), a workshop on Swachh Survekshan 2017 was organized by Jammu
Municipal Corporation which was held at NIC centre District Headquarter Jammu.
The workshop was attended by Additional Dy. Commissioner Jammu Sh. Arun
Manhas, Joint Commissioner (A) JMC Sh. R.S. Jamwal, Chief Accounts Officer Sh.
Neeraj Gupta, Joint Commissioner (W) Kaushal Kumar, Assistant Commissioner (R)
Smt. Subha Mehta, Health Officer Dr. Mohd. Saleem Khan, Executive Engineers, and
other officers and officials of JMC. At the outset Chief Accounts Officer JMC welcomed
the officers and other participants.
The kick off national workshop was conducted from New Delhi and was
attended by 500 cities, spread across 363 districts through a video conference.
The Views of Sh. Venkiah Naidu Hon’ble Minister for Urban Development
Department, Govt. of India was listened patiently by all the participants through
National Broad Cast, Media Centre New Delhi from 11:00 AM onwards through Video
Conference. After the video conference the parameters of ranking system of the
survekshan 2017 was also discussed and the measures to improve the ranking
system of Jammu city under Swachh Bharat Mission was discussed.
Dr. V. K. Dogra Assistant Professor Department of Architecture and landscape
design Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University was present as resource person for the
workshop. He also delivered a very informative guest lecture on solid waste
management in urban areas for upgrading the skills of sanitation staff. The future
strategy for management of solid waste of Jammu City and other factors like door to
door collection of garbage, segregation and other related matters was also discussed
in length.

Health Officer JMC also briefed regarding present scenario of sanitation within
the limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation and also discussed the new initiatives to
be taken in the near future.
Informatics officer JMC, Mr. Ankush Kapoor highlighted the learning module
and explained the usage of new mobile apps launched by Ministry of Urban
Development, Govt. of India for Swachh Survekshan 2017 to the
Sanitation/Engineering staff of JMC.

Project of installation of intelligent traffic signal lights in Jammu
approved under AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban
Transformation)
In order to finalize an ambitious project of installation of intelligent traffic signal
lights in Jammu approved under AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban
Transformation) costing to Rs. 21.95 crores for upgrading existing 30 traffic signal
lights and to install such lights at 34 new locations, a meeting was called by the
Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr. Manmohan Singh (KAS) under the
Chairmanship of IGP (Traffic), Jammu, Sh. Viplav Kumar Choudhary (IPS). During
the course of the meeting, queries raised in the pre-bid meeting held on 30th June,
2016 were discussed in threadbare and disposed off so that tender complete in all
respects are received by or before 22nd August, 2016 being last date for receipt of
tenders.
During the course of meeting it was decided that main control room shall be
established in the premises of IGP Traffic Office at CPO Chowk, Panjtirthi, Jammu.
The meeting was also attended by Udaya Bhaskar Billa (IPS), S.P. (Traffic),
Jammu, R.S. Jamwal (KAS), Joint Commissioner (A), Neeraj Gupta (KAS), Chief
Accounts Officer, JMC, Kushal Chand, Joint Commissioner (Works), JMC, Ex.
Engineer (Electric), JMC and ARTO, Jammu.

Due to heavy rainfall in Jammu City, the Transport wing of JMC
deployed both men & machinery on all the vulnerable points of
trouble shooting nallahs falling with in JMC limits
There was heavy rain on 10-8-2016 which lashed out Jammu city since
morning . Under the directions of Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Dr.
Manmohan Singh (KAS), and under overall supervision of Joint Commissioner (A),
JMC, Sh. R.S. Jamwal (KAS), the Transport wing of JMC immediately swing into
action and deployed both men & machinery on almost all the vulnerable points of
trouble shooting nallahs falling with in JMC limits . Many blockades were removed
during the day long operation and if the same were not removed there would have
been a lot of damage to the life and property of general public.
During the operation, the JMC had deployed 1 no. Tracked excavator, Two
JCB’s, 12 no. Tippers, 4 no. Front end Loader along with Nallah gang labours.
The people of low lying areas thanked the JMC for carrying out massive de-
silting drive w.e.f 1-2-2016 and removed the silt up to bed level from trouble
shooting nallahs within JMC limits. During rain all the nallahs were well under
control & there is no report of untoward incident due to flash flood and water logging.
The Commissioner , JMC appealed the general public not to encroach upon Nallahs
and throw garbage/building material in Nallahs, as the same is the main cause of
choking of Nallhs and it is our duty to clean our surroundings and further assured
that JMC will put every possible effort for minimizing the problems of general public.

JMC SEALS SHOPS AT GANDHI NAGAR JAMMU
On the instructions of Dr. Manmohan Singh (KAS) Commissioner,Jammu
Municipal Corporation Jammu and under the supervision of Sh. R.S. Jamwal (KAS)
Joint Commissioner (Administration), the Enforcement staff sealed three shops
Illegally constructed on by Smt. Veena Malhotra D/o Sh. Bodh Raj at 493-A Gandhi
Nagar, Jammu under section 8 (1) of J&K Control of Building Operation Act, 1988 as
the said person has converted the old residential ground floor into commercial shops
in violation of the land use of the area from residential to commercial one.
Besides this, while further continuing and intensifying the anti encroachment
drive to clear the footpaths / pavements, parts of road sides the team undertook a
drive in the area of Gandhi Nagar, Nai Basti and Satwari and seized goods / articles
like Washing Machine, Cooler, Trunks, Foam Sheets, Chairs, Cylinder, Bed Frames,
Umbrellas etc which were kept by the shopkeepers / vendors by encroaching upon
footpaths / pavements and road sides etc thereby causing inconvenience to the
pedestrians and also creating obstruction in the free movements of vehicular traffic
and difficulty in drainage and sanitation system.
The drive and sealing have been conducted with the help of Police Force led by
Station House Officers Police Station Gandhi Nagar and District Police Lines, Jammu.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation once again appeals to the General Public to
refrain from making encroachments and unauthorized constructions / Conversion in
violation of land use otherwise strict action as admissible under rule leading to
demolition / sealing will be taken and also appeals to the shopkeepers/ Venders not
to encroach Footpaths/ Pavements or Public Roads .
