THE MYSTERY OF THE KEYS TO THE KOG

Matthew 16:19

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

WHAT ARE THE KEYS FOR? FOR AUTHORITYTo bind on earth what is bound in heaven, and to

loose on earth what is loosed in heaven

Only after having taught the kingdom parables, Jesus put the keys to the kingdom into the disciples’ hands.

The KEYS were given ONLY after the disciples had UNDERSTOOD THE PARABLES OF THE KINGDOM

In order to understand the KEYS, they had to understand the KINGDOM

“THE KINGDOM” BY CHRIST 36Jesus said, "My kingdom is

not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.“ (John 18:36)

The keys NOWHERE ELSE IN THE BIBLE

WE READ ABOUT THE KEYS TO THE KOG.

BUT JESUS OFFERED MANY CLUES ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE AND WHO WILL GET THEM.

More than one key Note that the keys are in the

plural: more than one. Since they are kingdom keys, they

would of necessity give the user access into the kingdom realm.

If we can now understand what the kingdom is we will know more about these keys.

Who gets the KEYS to the KOG?

1. THE BORN AGAIN• 3In reply Jesus declared, "I

tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."

John 3:3

2. THE WISE STUDENT• 52He said to them, "Therefore every teacher

of the law who has been instructed about the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.“

• The teacher of the law, a Jew, was expected to have the knowledge about the old teachings of the scriptures and recognize Christ and the new things He was teaching: a key here is to recognize that Jesus is the Son of God prophesied by the Old Testament prophets.Mat. 13:52

2. THE WISE STUDENT

• 13"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.

3. THE FORCEFUL MAN

• 16"The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.

Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.

Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. 32For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.

7. THE SERVANTS

Lk.22:25-30

25Jesus said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. 26But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. 27For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves. 28You are those who have stood by me in my trials. 29And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me, 30so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

22strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. "We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God," they said

9. THE SANCTIFIED

1 Co. 6:9-10

9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Co. 15:50

50I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

2Thes.1:4-7

4Therefore, among God's churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring. 5All this is evidence that God's judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. 6God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you 7and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.

8He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power 10on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. ARE YOU BORN AGAIN?ARE YOU A WISE STUDENT OF THE SCRIPTURES?ARE YOU FORCEFULLY LAYING HOLD OF IT?ARE YOU RECEIVING THE KOG LIKE A CHILD?ARE YOU POOR IN THE EYES OF THE WOLRD?DO YOU BELIEVE CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD AND KING?ARE YOU A SERVANT?ARE YOU FAITHFUL EVEN THROUGH HARDSHIPS?ARE YOU SANCTIFYING YOUR LIFE IN VIEW OF THE KOG?ARE YOU GIVING FRUITS TO THE KOG?ARE YOU PERSEVERING IN THE FAITH?DO YOU OBEY THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST?ARE YOU COMMITTED TO YOUR CALLING AND ELECTION?
