Chapter 1

The Missing Ring

One day after school, Christina, Danielle, Karen, Lucy, Michelle,

Samantha, and Patricia were walking to their homes. Then, all of a sudden, a woman came running and said, “Oh my

goodness, I lost my engagement ring! Next week, I will be getting married!”

Lucy said, “ If it is okay, we will help you solve a problem for a dollar a day, we make problems go away.”

The woman said, “Sure, here is my one-dollar bill and my name is Jessica.”

“Thank you,” said Danielle politely. “It’s our pleasure to help you.” The woman went away feeling very glad that someone was helping

her find the precious ring.

Christina demanded, “Let’s meet together at school in our favorite

meeting spot tomorrow at lunch time.” “Okay, see you guys tomorrow,” Karen said. They all headed straight home.

Chapter 2

Karen’s Dream

The next day, the kids arrived at their favorite tree after lunch. Suddenly, Karen said excitedly, “Last night, I dreamt about who was the thief.” “Tell us about it!” Michelle said “My suspicion is the owner of a jewelry store. He saw Jessica bought the beautiful diamond ring,” Karen continued. “He ordered one of his men to steal it since his business was not doing well. He’s trying to attract more customers to go in the store.” “Yes, you maybe right. There is nothing precious in the store that people want to buy!” added Lucy. “Exactly,” Karen said. “Then, the man followed Jessica to her two-story house. One day, when she left her house to buy groceries to bring it to her friend’s house, the man slipped inside and took the ring.” “The front door was locked. Therefore, the man came in and came out through the back door,” Danielle finished. “Great guess,” said Christina. “I hope you’re correct.” “We can all tell her what we think,” suggested Patricia. “Sure,” said Samantha. “Then, what are we waiting for? Let’s go!”

Chapter 3

The Returned Ring

The kids went to Jessica’s house, and told her about what they suspected. Jessica was very glad and almost kissed her sister. The kids were also proud of themselves. After that, Jessica and the kids went to the jewelry store just in time before someone wanted to buy it. Jessica looked at the ring and recognized the marking of the ring. Her name was engraved inside the ring. “That is my ring!” Jessica shouted at the owner. “It has my name engraved in it, and I recognized the marking of it.” “Calm down,” Christina whispered to Jessica. “No, madam. I made it last week!” Lied the owner. Jessica got frustrated and called 911. When the police officers arrived, they put the bright silver handcuffs on the owner’s and his man’s wrists and took them to jail.” “I made it just last week,” argued the owner. “I did not do anything wrong!” “The police officers ignored the owner and his man and put them in the cells. The police officers left the jail leaving the security guards to watch the prisoners.

Jessica was thankful to the kids once more and hugged the fourth

graders. She gave a wedding invitation with Michael and Jessica printed on the elegant envelope. There was a picture of the couple in the front page of the invitation. The kids were amazed! “Do you want to be my flower girl, Karen?” Jessica was looking at Karen with a smile in her face. Karen nearly almost cried. “ I’d love to. Thank you,” she replied.

Wedding

Next week had finally arrived! The girls walked to the restaurant and were talking to each other about the wedding. “I picked the calla lilies from my lovely garden,” Karen said. “I cannot believe that the ring bearer is one of our classmates!” Christina said. “He is also Jessica’s nephew!” Patricia added. When they reached there, they saw the gorgeous portrait of the couple displaying by the reception desk, which was the same one on the wedding invitation. They walked inside the banquet hall and found Jessica. “Hi,” Jessica said. The girls gasped. Jessica was so pretty! “Follow me,” Jessica continued, “Here’s your table, Table number 2.” “The girls sat down on the chairs and helped themselves for some drinks. “Thank you, Jessica,” Danielle said politely.

“Don’t you wash your hands before you eat?” Lucy said.

“Oh, we forgot,” Samantha said. The girls asked someone where the bathroom was. After washing their hands, the wedding started.

Karen started throwing flower pedals as she walked down the red

carpet and waved at her girlfriends at the same time. Then, Jonathan, the ring bearer, came out holding the rings on the white pillow. He gave one ring to Jessica and one to Michael. They put the ring on each other’s finger and then kissed. Everyone applauded. After dinner, it was time for dancing. Since Christina liked Jonathan and he liked Christina, too, they danced together. Jonathan was five months older than Christina. Soon the wedding was over. The girls said thank you to Jessica and wished they had a happy life.

The girls felt very honored for one reason, which was their first
