IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by Article 89 of the Constitution of
Kenya and the Fifth Schedule of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries
Commission Act, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission makes the
following Order:-
THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY CONSTITUENCIES AND COUNTY ASSEMBLY WARDS ORDER, 2012
1. This Order may be cited as the National Assembly Constituencies and
County Assembly Wards Order, 2012.
2. The Parliamentary Constituencies Review Order, as appearing in
Legal Notice No. 298 of 1996 is hereby revoked.
3. Pursuant to Article 89(1) of the Constitution, there shall be two
hundred and ninety constituencies for the purposes of the election of the members
of the National Assembly provided for in Article 97(l)(a).
4. This Order determines the number, names and delimitation of
boundaries for constituencies and county assef!lbly wards; and the specific
geographical and demographical details relating to such delimitation.
5. The attached Schedule outlines the number and the name of the
counties, constituencies and county assembly wards, the population based on the
2009 Kenya N<nional Population and Housing Census, the surface area of the
constituencies a~ county assembly wards in square kilometres and the description
of the county assembly wards made up of sub-locations based on the 2009 Kenya
National Population and Housing Census.
6. Pursuant to Article 89(9) of the Constitution and Paragraph 3(6) of the
Fifth Schedule of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Act, this
Order shall have effect from 7th March, 2012.
