What is science?
� SCIENCE is the process of
trying to understand the
world around you.
� We use science to create technology.
TECHOLOGY is the use of knowledge
learned through science.

OBSERVATIONS
� An observation is
the gathering of
information using
our five senses.
INFERENCES
� Inferences are
reasonable
conclusions made
from observations.
EXAMPLE #1 � OBSERVATION: The grass on the school’s
front lawn is wet.

1. Create this Data Table on notebook paper. 2. Continue down to 7 slides/stations…
Instructions:
1. View each slide very closely.
2. Write down two observations. These are interesting items that you can actually see being displayed
3. Create two inferences. The first inference should be a logical , reasonable conclusion drawn from the first observation
4. The second inference should be a logical , reasonable conclusion drawn from the second observation.
