Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) are on the way. Effective December 16, 2017E-Logs will be part of your daily routine. Hornady Transportation will be 100%compliant by June 30, 2017. This will give everyone several months to becomeproficient in the use of ELD's.
To transition into this new mandate we will ask new drivers to go electronic. Driversthat do not send in their logs on time and show up on the late log report will beplaced on the ELD. Drivers that receive HOS and Unsafe Driving violations duringa DOT inspection will be placed on the ELD. Drivers that receive more than 5 majorlog violations in a calendar month, during a company audit will be placed on the ELD.
Your Service Planners and Safety personnel will be asking you to volunteer to goactive on the ELD. If you have any questions, contact the Safety Department.

COME
One of the biggest hurdles a driver faces on the road is delay, whether loadingor unloading. In order for Hornady to recoup some of the cost associated withwait time, drivers will now be required to complete a delivery receipt. Below isa copy of a delivery receipt that has been filled out correctly.

"Joe,
On my way to the office this morning, I observeda Hornady driver in "action". I travel on this roadevery day. Too often, the trucks in this area of I90are aggressive, do not maintain a safe following distance, and endanger those around them. Even more, it is aconstruction zone with a slower speed limit that veryfew obey.
With that being said, please personally thank your driverfor me. He is an exception to the norm. A trueprofessional that is courteous and conscientious of thosearound him."

Note from Sales:It's been said that the sales department isn't the whole company but the whole company should be theSales Department.
As we all work together to improve our organization, we are reminded that our success depends onhow we have each applied ourselves to the task at hand. In sales, we feel like it is our job to makesure our drivers are successful and we are working hard to create more opportunities that will makethat happen. After all, if our drivers fail to succeed, then ultimately we all fail!
We anticipate growth in the near future. This growth will come with the potential of higher ratesand the diversification of new commodities. The different commodities that we are looking tohaul are: Corrugated/Aluminum, Pavers, Energy Products, Elevators, Gratings, Cable, Generators,Storm Shelters, Pre-Cast Concrete, Towers, Tires, Copper, Glass, Mulch, Earth Moving and AgEquipment/Machinery.
We've had an outpouring of responses from our drivers already to get more Sales leads andbecause of that, we are able to open up new doors which will allow our drivers to make more money!
As a reminder, drivers can send leads to [email protected] and you will beprovided $50 after we haul our first shipment with that customer. We encourage you to continue totake advantage of this incentive program and send any feedback you may have to the Salesdepartment.
Thank you for your hard work and dedication to Hornady!
