Program of Work

What is a program of work?

Service opportunities

Professional development

(connections with business)

Financial management, including fundraising

Social activities

Important to a successful year!

Page 9: The Next in Line Trevor Lockman Nebraska FBLA State Vice President 2014 Nebraska Fall Leadership Conference

SMART Goals

Specific

Don't be vague!

Set an EXACT goal to achieve

Who? What? Where? When? Why?

A stranger should be able to determine exactly what you want to achieve

Measurable

How can you see progress?

Find some way to see progress within the goal

Page 10: The Next in Line Trevor Lockman Nebraska FBLA State Vice President 2014 Nebraska Fall Leadership Conference

Smart Goals (Continued)

Attainable

Identify goals that are important to you

Why set a goal that you have no interest in and is too big to achieve?

Reaching

Does the goal push you?

If the goal doesn't push you, go for something harder to achieve

Timely

Set a date to get the goal fully accomplished

If it is a large goal, set target dates for pieces of the goal

Accomplishing an open-ended goal is less likely

Page 11: The Next in Line Trevor Lockman Nebraska FBLA State Vice President 2014 Nebraska Fall Leadership Conference

Goals need an Action Plan!

This goes back to the Specific in SMART Goals

What tasks need to be completed?

How will this goal be accomplished?

Who needs to do what?

When will each task happen?

DOs

#Hashtags

Use them! Make sure they make sense, though

Post relevant information!

Your readers want to know what is happening NOW

Don't post anything (uninteresting) that happened before the USA declared independence

Keep it short and sweet!

Nobody wants to read an essay!

Post in "traffic times"

Think about when you use social media the most

Times when you eat, right after school hours, Friday nights, etc.?

Page 17: The Next in Line Trevor Lockman Nebraska FBLA State Vice President 2014 Nebraska Fall Leadership Conference

DON'Ts

#Hashtags Don't overuse them

Post party pictures Or any party posts for that matter!

Trash-talk an opponent or rival team Actions off and on the field speak louder than words

"Walk the walk, don't talk the talk"

Bully or make threats towards another (be that a group or individual) You shouldn't even do this in real life!

Bullying has no place in leaders' repertoire
