Points to Ponder from Various Mystics

I feel real deep-down awe when I see that the good and gentle Jesus – the One who rules and feeds the whole universe – was born into such great want and need that no one else has ever been so poor as He was. Look, Jesus is born into utter destitution and His life began in a wanting that would complete our every neediness and feed our every hunger pang. And remember that in the end, Jesus dies poor and naked on the cross so that He might reclothe us and cover our own nakedness.

What Does It Mean to Live as Cursillista in the World Today? By: Sis Celsa Taraya

the recent Fresno Encounter. We, Cursillistas have to do a group presentation to the crowd. The event was well attended by multiple Secretariat(s) in Region XI namely: FCC, Spanish, Vietnamese and English combined. In the Diocese of Oakland, Brothers Mario C, Rey D, Sisters Cora T, Celsa T, Clarita P and prayed-over probable Men’s #98 candidate, Ramon T were in attendance. Wishing there were more of us. The experience was totally impressive and faith enhancing. Cursillistas embrace the Charism of the Cursillo movement. We are the fruit of the 3-day Cursillo with the spiritual guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit to move onward to the 4th day in Piety, Study and Action with group reunions and Ultreyas Aren’t we complete Cursillistas befitting the profile? Of course, we are. BUT, none of these matters without the support and cooperation of our familial environment. It takes time, money and effort away from us and our loved ones. In a broken world today, we have innocent victims killed by chemical weapons from the war in Syria, the rising tension between US and China, the nuclear threat from North Korea, the apparent death of DACA and many more. Issues which we cannot do anything about except pray, deeply understand what they are fighting for and have a strong FAITH that God has not abandoned them. What is our meaning as a living Cursillista in this tumultuous world of ours? Be involved. How? Join the walk for life, be strong advocates to the oppressed, feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, visit the sick and more. Some of our members go half around the world from Africa to the Philippines to immerse themselves deeply

into the way of life of the poor. Get down low to the ground to do beach clean-up, plant trees. Be Christ. Christ came down to our level not to remain, but raise us to a higher one. We are the product of current times. Sad to say, that the world has more influence to the Church than the Church to the world. Our Mission: Bring Christ to the world. De Colores.

Friendships Along the Way

It’s great to have some friendships To cherish from day to day,

Someone who’ll listen and encourage A friend along the way.

Just an ordinary person

To help laugh each care away And to gently pull you back together When your threads begin to fray.

Sharing all the memories

That are tucked within the heart, ‘Cause a friend is a precious treasure – A priceless work of art.

So as you journey on life’s highway,

Look for that friendship road, For to have a friend along life’s way Eases the bearing of the load.

My First Encounter By: Sis Bing (Adelaida) Grant My name is Sis. Bing (Adelaida) Grant, I lived my Cursillo in Aptos, CA., Cursillo #95 in 2017. My Decuria is Immaculate Conception. Living in grace, I thought was going to Church on Sundays, praying the Rosary and daily prayers. It was good enough between God and me. Having attended the 3-day Cursillo, I realized there was more to life in grace than above. It was most clear to me when I attended the Fresno Encounter. The joy shared, the services given, the works others do to better serve Jesus was a lot for me to take as a new graduate. The experience of listening to all the speakers, doing workshops, eating and singing together, getting to know others outside of our diocese was precious. My eyes can see and my ears can hear much better now. But, am I able to cope with this change in my life? My mentor and sponsor, Sis Celsa Taraya has so much belief in me that I cannot do anything but move on with movement. I am so glad she invited me. De Colores

His Awareness

Amid life’s thunder and lightning,

Amid dismal skies of gray, A smiling face shine brightly, Proclaiming a sunny day. Amid the heat of the barren desert, Amid the debris and gloom, A cool, refreshing touch unfolds, The desert cactus blooms. Amid the darkness of the night, When eerie shadows crawl, A friend doth hover o’er me To answer if I call. Though my eyes can’t see Him, I know my Lord is near, For amid the breeze and rustling grass, He whispers, “Child, don’t fear!”

Marian Reflections:

But if anyone does sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous one. He is expiation for our sins, and . . . for those of the whole world. 1 John 2: 1-2

In heaven, Mary remains always in the presence of her Divine Son. There she is continually praying on behalf of sinners. St. Bede the Venerable

Prayer: O Mary, in accord with

the will of your Divine Son, you are the Refuge of Sinners. Beg Him to forgive my past sins and help me to avoid sin in the future.

Outreach as an Inspiring Ministry* By: Sis. Precy Fiscus

Being able to do another outreach program inspires me wholeheartedly. I have been very enthusiastic to be back in Negros Oriental to distribute rice, backpacks, religious items, Macdonald package meal deals of cheeseburgers, etc., chocolates, lollipops and other nice treats to the orphans, abandoned children, earthquake & flood victims, school children and many more less fortunate folks. The distribution process took place on November 26, 2017 during ‘Christ the King’ day based on the liturgical calendar. I can still visualize the happy faces and excited expressions of the recipients in Dumaguete and the neighboring towns. What a good way to spend my week-end, with the assistance of my dedicated volunteers who have realistically helped me since 2012. This 4th successful outreach could not be made possible without the generous spirit and continued support as well as the trust that is bestowed on me by faithful donors of whom I am gratefully thankful. Truly I am touched with the human kindness around us; for some who do not have much but still want to share what they have, bless

these wonderful people’s hearts for the caring gesture. So good to hear heartening feedbacks from friends – such as “my 2 thumbs up for your wonderful works of mercy”, “thanks for doing this”, “glad to be able to extend help through you”… Albeit there is a lot of work involved, it gives me such pleasure to do so, for God’s greater glory as He hears the cries of the poor. With God’s willingness along with His grace, I am very much looking forward to tirelessly continue this fulfilling ministry in the foreseeable future. Here is a quote from the Bible: 2. Hebrews 13:16, “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God”.

A Glimmer of Hope

Thy Will, Not Mine

When I was young and filled with

dreams of goals and sweet success, I set my course and then my sights on fame and happiness. I knew with inner certainty the things that I would do, and so I strove, with God my guide, to make my dreams come true.

With visions of accomplishments, I failed, somehow to see that God, in time , had other plans in mind, meant just for me. So quietly and subtly, as circumstances changed, the dreams that I before held dear were gently rearranged.

For in His plan, God always knew the path my life would take, if I but listen to His voice and needed changes make … Now as I put all faith in Him and pray “Thy will, not mine,” my heart is blessed with love and grace, my soul with peace divine.

Lost in His Precious Love

How I cherish times like these, When I can lay aside The cares and worries of the day And rest at eventide. I sit alone and meditate While twilight shadows fall, Birds have hushed their cheerful songs; Sweet peace lies over all. Fireflies begin to glow In meadows all around; A patchy mist is hovering Close to now obscure ground. In the darkening firmament, Countless stars appear. Heaven is so far, and yet, God’s presence seems so near. How is the earth so beautiful, So grand the skies above? I think of God and find myself Lost in His precious Love. Regina Wiencek

Marian Reflections:

The righteous holds to his way, the one with clean hands increases in strength. Job 17:9

My children, do you want to obtain perseverance? Then be devoted to our Blessed Lady! St. Philip Neri

Prayer: O Mary, you obtain the

grace of final perseverance for your children. Help me to be a devoted child of yours, so that I may remain in the state of grace until death and join you with your Son in heaven.

Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. Only by it can mankind be saved (Mahatma Gandhi) My message is my life (Mahatma Gandhi). Generations to come, it may be, will scarce believe that such a one as this, ever in flesh and blood, walked upon this earth (Dr. Albert Einstein). From the book “Great Soul Mahatma Gandhi and His Struggle with India” by Joseph Lelyveld: I do not know whether you have seen the world as it really is. For myself I can say I perceive the world in its grim reality every moment (1918). I deny being a visionary. I do not accept the claim of saintliness. I am of the earth, earthy . . . I am prone to as many weaknesses as you are. But I have seen the world. I have lived in the world with my eyes open (1920). I am not a quick despairer (1922).

For men like me, you have to measure them not by the rare moments of greatness of their lives, but by the amount of dust they collect on their feet in the course of life’s journey (1947) Mahatma Gandhi, 1864-1948.

A Lasting Peace

There’s an empty place in every heart Until we find the Lord, For He alone can fill it, Then joy is our reward. If you’re searching for a lasting peace, Then just invite Him in; He’ll fill that place within your heart And cleanse you free from sin. Oh, what a joy to know Him, To let Him be your guide. You’ll never be along again, For He’ll walk by your side. He said He’d never leave us If we make Him our Lord; He’ll guide us through eternity, Make Heaven our reward. Helen Gleason

THE CELEBRATION OF LIFE

OF TWO BELOVED SISTERS,

ICONS OF THE FCC-

OAKLAND

Tribute to A Beloved Sister By: Sis Marly Dy-Liacco

One of the most loved, very strong pillar in the FCC Diocese of Oakland, has been called by our Creator to join Him in the life that is forever. Sis Fe Quinto passed away on March 25,2018. On April 4,2018, we all gathered at the Chapel of St Joseph Funeral Home to pay our respect & bid goodbye to Sis Fe. It was very heartwarming Celebration of her Life as a Cursillista. The chapel was filled with her Brothers & Sisters in Christ as we joined in the recitation of the Rosary, delivered eulogies & sung our vigil mananita. Precious moments, now treasured memories, came flooding back and once again we were reminded of all the laughter & joy, success & failures, pain & sadness we have shared; and yes, learned a lot. We are all appreciative of those times. Sis Fe has changed our lives even without realizing she has made, just being herself. We are grateful for the way she has always been willing to share her time. While we all grieve over her death, we are

filled with gratefulness in our hearts. We are thankful that through the Cursillo, we met, became sisters & friends. Thank you, Sis Fe for our friendship that will last forever. We will always have you in our prayerful thoughts. Indeed, time spent with our Cursillo Community creates a lifelong memories. And these memories will warm our hearts every day. Sis Fe, Rest in Peace with our Lord. Until we meet again in the grandest ever Ultreya in His Kingdom! De Colores!

Eulogy to Sis Fe Quinto By: Sis Carmen Revecho

I am your Sis. Carmen Revecho, Cursillo 21, Decuria of St. Cecilia at Old St. Mary's Church in Oakland. The cliché, "This is a small world" is true. It happened 36 years ago. My aunt invited us to attend a wedding of their friends. We were reluctant to go because we were not invited, but she insisted because we were so called "FOBS" in the state and she wanted us to meet some Filipinos in the community. It was the wedding of Johnny and Fe Quinto. It was so nice to meet many friendly "kababayans". After 6 years of this event, my husband was literally dragged by our friend, Bro. Onching Peralta to join the Cursillo weekend. Because it was "kahiyaan" invitation, he reluctantly joined. He was surprised to see most of the faces he met at Bro. Johnny & Sis Fe's wedding -- they were Cursillistas from the Diocese of Oakland. Through team meetings and ultreyas, we began our friendships with the Quintos. When I became a Cursillitas, I got to know Sis. Fe. Sis. Fe impressed me as a bundle of energy that belied her diminutive stature. She was a wife, raising 3 kids, working full time and very active at civic activities like serving in the soup kitchen at St. Mary's Church. She was involved in the church ministries as a lector, eucharistic minister, choir member

and very involved with the Cursillo community. Where did she get all the energy to serve almost all of the Cursillo weekends? God certainly gave her the gifts of which she wisely used to the best of her ability as a whole-hearted devotion to the Lord. Quoting our Lord Jesus when he was asked by the disciples how they can have eternal life? Jesus replied "Love God with all your strength, mind and heart." which Sis Fe had done in her life. She certainly fulfilled the Tripod of the Cursillo movement -- Piety, Study & Action. Her evangelization was in Action -- given to attract others to follow. Her dedication to the Cursillo movement is something that we as fellow Cursillistas can remember and emulate with love, respect and honor in the spirit of faith. She will be a hard act to follow. Her sudden passing is a surprise because she was still young and healthy. She will be felt as a great loss to the Cursillo community. To Sis. Fe's family, we pray that you will feel God's warm arms of love and comfort to ease your grief and to Sis. Fe, may love and joy await you as the Eternal Father welcomes you home. DE COLORES!

Marian Reflections:

Come to me, all who desire me, and be filled with my fruits. You will remember me as sweeter than honey, better to have than the honeycomb. Sirach 24:19-20

May the life of Mary, who gave birth to God, be for all of you as instructive as if it were written down. Come to know yourselves in her and carry out the good works that you have neglected in the past. St. Athanasius

Prayer: O Mary, help me to

meditate often on your life and to imitate your virtues. In so doing, I will attain a living knowledge of Jesus and the Father – which Jesus said constitutes eternal life.

Marian Reflections:

Let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace for timely help. Hebrew 4:16

The life-giving graces flow from Christ the Head, through the Blessed Virgin, into His Mystical Body. Mary received the great honor from God that no one should obtain any grace except through her hands. St. Bernardine of Siena

Prayer: O Mary, you are the

Mediatrix of all graces. Each day, obtain for me from your Divine Son the graces I need to lead a truly Christian life.

Marian Reflections:

A woman from the crowd called out . . ., “Blessed is the womb that carried you . . .” He replied, “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.” Luke 11:27-28

Mary is blessed most of all because she heard the word of God and carried it out. She preserved the Truth in her mind even more than she preserved the Flesh in her womb. St. Augustine

Prayer: O Mary, you are the

first among the believers in Christ. Increase my faith in your Divine Son. Make it so alive that it will shine out even in the littlest thing I do.

Marian Reflections:

She is . . . found by those who seek her. She hastens to make herself known to those who desire her, one who watches for her at dawn will not be disappointed. Wisdom 6:12-14

The Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Auxilliatrix, Adjutrix, and Mediatrix. These however are to be so understood that they take nothing away from nor add anything to the dignity and efficacy of Christ, the one Mediator. Vatican II, the Church, 62

Prayer: O Mary, you are our

Advocate with God. Grant that I may call upon your intercessory power sand so be able to bring forth the fruits that your Divine Son calls me to bear.

This picture was taken at the Filipino Cursillo Community of the Diocese of Oakland hosting the Region XI Grand Ultreya at the Cathedral of Christ the Light Church Hall in 2015. Sis Fe was gracious enough to accept the task as one of the Affirmation Speaker. Since I joined the FCC-Oakland movement in 2005, I valued the moments when Sis Fe shared her wisdom and experiences with us new Cursillistas. It was her humility that touched me the most. She was very professional in her manner of dealing with things yet kind and unassuming, direct and

firm yet respectful. I never witness Sis Fe get rattled, she almost always held on to her composure, stately and confident. She demonstrated her love of neighbor in so many ways such as going out of her way to assist sister Cursillistas by picking them up and driving them back. All of these were her blessings, the graces she received from God because of her faith, because of her service to the Lord and her neighbors. Goodbye for now, Sis Fe, you will surely be missed. But rest assured, Bro. Vic and I will continue to have you in our prayers. God bless and guide us all. De colores! Sis Temi

Marian Reflections:

Nothing unclean will enter it, not anyone who does abominable things or tells lies. Only those will enter whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. Revelations 21:27

Those who enjoy the favor of Mary are recognized by the citizens of heaven. And those who bear her stamp, that is, those who have the grace to be her servants, are inscribed in the book of life. St. Bonaventure

Prayer: O Mary, you are the

Book of Life for your servants. Help me to be so devoted to you that I will remain free from serious sin and may have my name written in that Book.

Marian Reflections:

Hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us. Romans 5:5

The Holy Spirit is all the love of the Blessed Trinity, and Mary is all the love of Creation. In their union, heaven is united with earth, the whole of eternal Love with the whole of created love. It constitutes the zenith of love! St. Maximilian Kolbe

Prayer: O Mary, you bring us

the love of God through the Holy Spirit. Make me acutely aware of the Holy Spirit. Obtain for me the grace to follow His promptings and grow in His Love.

Celebrating the Life of Sis Auring Calub By: Sis Carmen Revecho

I am your Sr. Carmen Revecho, Cursillo 21, Decuria St. Cecilia. We are here to celebrate the life of our Sis. Auring Calub. Who among us don't know Sis. Auring? If you've listened to the rollo on the history of the Filipino Cursillo in the Diocese of Oakland, you would know that she was one of the workers in the Lord's vineyard who started it. Her faith, enthusiasm and evangelization for the Cursillo movement is what we enjoy now as the proverbial mustard seed she planted. She had spent her life actively engaged in all Cursillo weekends. I cannot count how many weekends she had served in the Action group as a leader. She also organized many fundraisings with the Reno trips to help the St. Mary's Church in Oakland and the Cursillo fund. She and husband Bro. Joe were choir members too. I envy her dynamic energy being a mother raising four children, working full time and not only being engaged in the Cursillo but also serving the Senior Center in Oakland on weekends, again as the chef. She had spent her life actively engaged in all Cursillo weekends and quoting St. James, "Prayer without action is dead". Sis. Auring indeed fulfilled the tripod: Piety, Study and Action. Having served with this lady, how many of us have not enjoyed her yummy meals on Cursillo weekends? It didn't seem Sis. Auring was aging like the rest of us, because of her tremendous energy. But then like there is sunrise comes dusk then night time, Bro. Joe, her husband was afflicted with what Nancy Reagan called " the long goodbye” -- geriatric dementia. That took a toll on Sis. Auring's body because of the stress in taking care of her husband. Soon her health failed too and she had no recourse but put Bro. Joe in a care home until his end came.

I saw the obvious change in our Sis. Auring's vibrant personality. We sure shall miss this couple at the future mananitas -- Bro. Joe with his ukelele and Sis. Auring's leading the two groups -- "When we brother/sister Cursillistas sing." She was the epitome of an ideal Christian. To the Calub family, we pray that you can feel the good Lord's arms to comfort you in your grief and to Sis. Auring -- May eternal rest be granted to her and let perpetual light shine upon her and to all the departed souls may they rest in peace. DE COLORES! (Note: Sis. Carmen delivered the eulogy at the Cursillo Night viewing at the Chapel of Chimes, Hayward, Ca.)

Marian Reflections:

Come and hear, ll you who fear God, while I recount what has been done for me. I called to him with my mouth; praise was upon my tongue. Psalm 66: 16-17

Every day at Evening Prayer, the Church sings the “Magnificat,” Mary’s hymn of praise. This habitual remembrance of the Lord’s Incarnation enkindles the hearts of the faithful and the frequent meditation of Mary’s examples confirms them in virtue. St. Bede the Venerable

Prayer: O Mary, teach me to

unite myself with the Church in her daily prayers to Christ. Let me recite your magnificent hymn of praise often.

The Sister That I Fondly Called Mama Auring By: Sis Shirley Encarnacion

My description of Sis Auring as a friend, a mother and a sister in Christ. I never knew her then when I graduated from Women Cursillo #56 at St. Anthony Claret at Clayton, CA. I served the following year then went on a long Sabbatical leave to raise my daughters. Who would have thought that after several years of absence from the Cursillo that I will be called to serve in 2010. Thanks to Sis Cora Pediglorio for not giving up on me.

Beside the Cursillo events and activities, I was invited to attend a networking meeting which I did not have a second thought about it, because I have the time since I was unemployed. I saw some familiar faces and new faces. That’s when our bonding time started. We all look forward to that day because Mama Auring always cooked for us. She’s always taking care of us because the meeting sometimes takes 4 hours the most and we all come home tired and hungry. At first, I was scared of Mama Auring because of her strict character, firm and very serious most of the time. She probably noticed that I was trying to avoid her or even to pass each other. One night during our meeting, she was trying to offer me the half-bitten egg roll that she made and I could say no so I took a bite of the egg roll, and then she whispered and said that she made some for me to take home. I was surprised by her gesture but I also felt good about being cared for. I said to myself that “this lady is sweet deep inside after all”. This was the beginning of our mother/daughter relationship and not to forget Bro/Papa Joe. We started carpooling whenever we go to SOL, Grand Ultreya in Sacramento, the monthly Ultreya at Cathedral of Christ the Light. Those times that we spent on the road carpooling gave us the opportunity to get to know each other on a deeper level. I learned a lot about our Cursillo movement, her advices, her guidance, the TLC that she shows and gave me were priceless. I felt that I gained a mother not only a sister in Christ in her presence. We spend a lot of time on the phone. We never missed calling each other on a daily basis. As I got closer and closer to them, I felt I can no longer call them Sister or Brother, instead I started calling them Papa Joe and Mama Auring as our relationship truly developed like a parent/daughter relationship. I felt that I gained a parent in their presence.

And I think that God made us crossed our path to bond together. Mama Auring shows me a lot of love and I found out that she’s not that hard to be with in spite of what others think. As one of our sister told me that she is a Saint maker. I remember we used to go out on weekends to go to church at St. Anne or Holy Spirit, eat Dim Sum, go to Costco, and attend parties. On weekdays we go to the bank and eat afterwards. Those times spend together were precious, I get to know their kids. Until the time when Papa/Bro Joe ‘s health started to decline, the more I wanted to be by her side. She was a strong woman to be able to handle the day to day caring for a sick husband. In spite of that I did not want her to be alone with him so I still take her to our Cursillo activities. It did not take that long until her health also declined. All her children were very thankful for the way I cared and treated their parents. They told me that their mom loved me so much that she always talked about me. I too am grateful to them for letting me share their parents. I love you Mama Auring and I know that you are now happy together again with Papa Joe. May you both rest in peace

Marian Reflections:

Lord, bless the house of your servant, that it may be in your presence forever – since it is you, Lord, who blessed it, it is blessed forever. 1 Chronicles 17:26-27

Without the consent of Mary, God would not become Man. The reasons for this were first that we might feel under great obligation to her and second that we might realize that the salvation of all is left to her care. St. Peter Damian

Prayer: O Mary, you are

entrusted with our salvation. Keep me safe from the snares of the devil. Help me to say often: “Immaculate Heart of Mary, be my salvation.”

A Glimmer of Hope

A Glimpse of Heaven

I had a glimpse of Heaven –

‘Twas in a dream one night. Such splendor overwhelmed me – It was such a beautiful sight. I dreamed I saw the angels And heard them sweetly sing, And saints had gathered all around To worship Christ the King. And then I saw my loved ones Who entered Heaven’s door, And they appeared so joyful That I hoped to see much more. But ‘twas just a glimpse of Heaven, A land quite far away. I thanked the Lord for this dream – A glimpse of Heaven today.

A Glimmer of Hope

Home At Last

Oh Master, walk with me today In hope that I will find my way.

When torments of this world close in, My saddened soul is weak with sin. Dear Master, take my hand in Thine And let my will do Thee consign. In joyous rapture I will sing My gratitude to Christ the King. For in this world of gloom and woe, In wisdom, faith and trust we grow; Then by our side You shall remain To lead us on through joy and pain. Then someday when my life is through, In Paradise I’ll be with You, And all who’ve loved You in the past Will share Your heavenly home at last.

I met Sis Auring at my Cursillo Weekend # 72 in September, 2005 at the Angela Retreat Center in Santa Rosa, CA. She was our Den Mother. These were my first impression of her: a leader and a follower. I observed that there was a silent aspect on how she managed her tasks efficiently in whatever position she was placed in. And that she seemed to be always looking forward to the next tasks. I only learned about her being one of the core founders of the Filipino Cursillo Movement in the Diocese of Oakland many years later. Now, I understand where her quality of leadership comes from. Sis Auring, along with her husband, Bro Joe, were both very active such as, at the Mananita, be it for the FCC-Oakland weekends or for the English Men & Women Retreats, they both sprang into action, with Sis Auring leading us in singing and Bro Joe accompanying with his ukelele. The energy they both demonstrated simply

rubs off to anyone who’s present. They are both gone now but left a legacy - LOVE of family and friends. Hearing from my fellow Cursillistas eulogized and sing with “gusto” at the Mananita for Sis Auring, made me realized how loved she was and how she shared this love with her family and friends. Praying for both of you, Sis Auring and Bro. Joe. Grateful to have met you both. De colores! Sis Temi

Marian Reflections:

Remain in me, as I remain in you . . ., Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. John 15: 4-5

It was the prerogative of Mary to conceive Christ in her womb. But it is the heritage of all the elect to bear Jesus in their hearts. St. Peter Damian

Prayer: O Mary, you bore Christ

in your heart as well as your body. Help me to bear Him always within my heart by doing the things that are pleasing to Him,

Marian Reflections:

For you were slain and with your blood you purchased for God those from every tribe and tongue, people and nation. Revelations 5:9

God is the Father of the world’s construction, and Mary is the Mother of its reconstruction. For God generated the One through Whom everything has been made. And Mary gave birth to the One through Whose work all things have been saved. St. Anselm

Prayer: O Mary, help me to

unite all my words and actions with your Heart and the Sacred Heart of Jesus for the salvation of the world.

Fremont Team, It’s 45th Year By: Sis Marly Dy-Liacco

This year marks our 45th year anniversary. Belonging to this group is a true blessing. We epitomize Christianity in Action! We are together as we walk in the journey life and giving support, encouragement and assistance to each other. In our team, we are all equal; standing together on common ground. Regardless of how long we have been members or what position we hold in the secretariat, or whether we have been rectors or rectoras, we feel the same belongingness. This principle makes our team strong, even and worthy. Among all the blessings we acquire from our team, what we most appreciate is the

gift of sharing. We are there for each other. We have maintained the secrecy of thoughts, words and actions shared with each other. Whether it is about joy, sadness, failures or successes, we are confident and comfortable that what we share is confined amongst us. There is no fear of being ostracized, ridiculed, judged or looked down upon. Everyone is there to listen and sometimes, comments, opinions or suggestions are conveyed. We look forward to the monthly meetings. It is when we get to enjoy each other’s company through prayers, sharing, and of course, fathering over food. Our team’s bonding has grown so strong that we are all against splitting the group.

We currently have 30-35 active members and an average monthly attendance of 18-20. Since sharing is the highlight of our meetings, we have adopted the Ultreya way of doing the PSA. We divide ourselves into 4-5 members per group and do the sharing in smaller circles. After 15-minutes, one representative from each group speaks about what has been discussed to the rest of the group. The level of respect is maintained during the sharing, and if a member or two declines to share, they are not pressured and are allowed to pass. Although friendship and evangelization are our top priorities, we have our own personal projects and the majority of us aim in helping the poor and those in need. We are truly blessed because one of the organizing members who started the Fremont Team 45 years ago, Bro Kit and Sis Tess Santos, remain active to this day. It is also worth mentioning that we have Deacon Steve Budnik in our team who is always willing to help us understand the Scriptures. Being a part of the Fremont Team is truly a joy! Nothing compares to the kind of love and belongingness we feel and receive for being a part of this group. The Fremont Team affords the learning experience and charism as Cursillistas. Our grateful hearts never forget. 45 years and counting! DE COLORES!
