Being perfect once is reason enough to celebrate but three times

in a row? ...that’s reason enough for everyone to celebrate YOU!

The Landover Production Plant recently completed their IPIA

PIQCS Plus audit and received a perfect score…FOR THE THIRD

TIME IN A ROW! SIMPLY OUTSTANDING!!!

Reddy Ice developed and implemented our Food Safety Plan in the

Fall of 2016 in response to FDA mandated changes for all food

processors that come under the Food Safety Modernization Act.

These stricter requirements have been problematic for some but

obviously not the Landover plant. They had already established a

true dedication to quality, food safety, and food defense at their

plant based on their 2016 audit result. What they have done here

is proven that their commitment to those values has not wavered

a bit in 2017, having received perfect audit scores twice more since

the FSP’s implementation even though regulatory compliance

requirements have increased tremendously.

At each annual meeting of our member association, the International Packaged Ice Association (IPIA) presents awards in recognition of

member ice companies’ efforts leading to perfect audit scores. We’re anxious to see and hear (and will report back to all of you) about the

IPIA’s recognition of the fantastic results from Landover.

When discussing this achievement with Landover Plant Manager, John Kaendera, he was quick to direct attention away from himself and

instead focus that praise onto his team, citing them as the reason why Landover was able to accomplish this feat three times over. We are

certainly in agreement with John but want to include him in the well-deserved praise for the entire Food Safety Team at Landover. We’re

looking forward to 2019 when you receive your 4th perfect score in a row!

By Ken Ray, Sr. Risk/Safety Manager

The only thing better than perfect, is more perfect!

Are you turning 50 this year, or have you already reached this milestone? Congratulations! You’ll want to enjoy this phase of life in style — and also make sure you may have enough saved to live well in retirement.

To help ensure you’re saving enough to generate the retirement income you’ll need, consider making catch-up contributions to your retirement account. Created by Congress in 2001 to help those nearing retirement save more, catch-up contributions let you deposit additional money into your employer-sponsored retirement plan after age 50.

Save beyond the regular annual limit

For 2017, you can contribute an additional $6,000 to your employer-sponsored retirement plan, for a maximum contribution of $24,000. You can find the latest information on Internal Revenue Service (IRS) annual retirement plan contribution limits at IRS.gov.

Start making catch-up contributions as soon as you can during the year so you can spread them out evenly over your paychecks. You’re eligible on January 1 of the year you turn 50, no matter how late in the year your birthday falls.

Help boost your retirement confidence

Catch-up contributions are a great way to top off your savings. These additional contributions may increase your chances of having what you need when you need it most: during retirement.

Finish strong! To begin making catch-up contributions, log in to your account at LincolnFinancial.com/Retirement and increase your contribution rate or talk to your retirement plan representative.

This very special award in recognition of exemplary service for those employees who demonstrate an attitude of excellence, teamwork and who go “Above and Beyond” job expectations!

Bob McKenzie, Dock Clerk – Charleston, SC

“Bob has been a valuable employee in his 20+ years with Reddy Ice. He is always searching for ways to save the company money and at times does an excellent job at collecting past due accounts. He strives every day to be a leader in his role and is always helpful to anyone that needs it. Bob has taken on every challenge that has been thrown his way and will show his commitment to learn these new tasks and excel. He has been a benefit to learning and teaching the new AX program, the CRM, and the hand held rollouts. Bob has also taken on tasks for other locations, in an effort to help get monies from non-paying customers. On that specific project he was able to get all monies paid! Bob’s commitment and drive are unwavering, he is the epitome of what this award stands for!”

– Richard Petty, DC Manager

Molly Adams, Recruiting Coordinator – OCS-Dallas, TX

“Molly is committed to attain our target goals to meet the needs of the business and close positions within 30 days. After much persistence and follow up she recently attained clearing all positions over 30 days that presented us with recruiting challenges. Molly works with our field management to assist them in moving new hires through the process in a timely manner. She takes the time to show her customers the process in a webinar if needed so they can understand more clearly. She is a strong team player and will do what is needed for our team to be successful.”

– Maryann Begay, Director Field HR & Recruiting

It gives me great pride and appreciation to recognize Larry Meyer and the entire Muskogee Team for having a RIRA of ZERO safety related occurrences in 2017. Muskogee has consistently improved in operational efficiencies and team synergy since Larry’s arrival to the plant. I was lucky enough to attend their recognition lunch and personally thank the team for a Safety First culture. Please join me in thanking the entire Muskogee, OK team and challenging them to repeat this result in 2018.

Thank you very much for your hard work, dedication, and SAFETY FIRST execution!
