Today’s Worship Plan

2 Corinthians 9:6-8 “...Whoever sows sparingly will also reap also sparingly and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”… Please notice the offering box in the entranceway; where we cheerfully place our offerings in the collection box. Your contributions to God help us preach the Gospel here in Cedar Key, around the world and carry out works of benevolence to the glory of Christ our Lord.

Welcome Visitors and Members! We hope that your experience today will add something meaningful to your life in Christ Jesus. If you are new to the area and would like more information about this church, let us know. If you are just visiting our island community, then we hope to see you again.

Would you like to confess your faith in Jesus Christ and repent of your sins today? Come forward during the last song and we will assist you in obeying Christ as Lord – or let us know your desire some other time. We can arrange a time for your baptism into Christ. If you are a Christian and wandered away from home with the Lord, you may make your desire known and we will pray for God to forgive your sins, and fully restore you to Jesus Christ and joyful fellowship with other Christians.

Share the Good News! Free Bible studies and much more are available at our congregation’s web site Cedar Key Church of Christ. We also have the church’s weekly Bulletin on

our web site.

***Bible question: What happened every seven years by the LORD’s decree? (Deuteronomy 15)

Love – The Litmus TestBut if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. (1 John 3:17-18 ESV)

When a person was dependent upon their horse for transportation, if the beast of burden suddenly stopped walking or galloping. The rider knew to get off and look for what was causing the horse to stop. Perhaps a small stone had become lodged in the horses “shoe” making each step very painful. When a Christian (a person in the likeness of Christ) suddenly stops walking the walk and are only talking the talk, the source of the problem is likely loss of love. (John 3:16) Pure love is the power behind the message of the gospel The true love like God’s is always looking for opportunities to serve in the same way Jesus would if he were here. (1 Corinthians 13:8 “Love never ends” or “never fails” Have you ever heard a parent say to a child, “Daddy doesn’t love you when you act like that!” Love is always acting regardless of the actions of the one being loved. “Jesus loves me this I know!” (1 John 4:19) We learn to love others because we were held close and caressed and doted over by parents, grandparents and others who adored us. If you don’t believe that, just look at how parents and grandparents carry on over a newborn baby! All that attention never ends or fails. Love is remembered in the deepest parts of our hearts. Give love while you can! Hug and hold your dear children. (1 John 3:13-15) The Christian life is much more than doing particular things in a particular way – rather it is a particular way of doing everything! The unique way of love is what makes Christians stand apart from all the rest of the world. Love is as love does.(1 John 3:16-17) How can a Christian refuse to give love in a similar manner to the way we are blessed by God!? If we have at our disposal the means to assist someone in need, and refuse to provide help, we do not have the love of God in our hearts. It is just that simple! Hatred is a tool of the devil. When we cease to love doing good deeds, we are leaning closer to the devil’s way. What a difference love makes in a person! Yes, in a spiritual sense but also profoundly evident in the physical aura of a person who knows they are being loved and in turn loving others. DB
