JERUSALEM!
This booklet helps you, to understand the Arabic service better. The Arabic liturgy is translated in a way of transcription so you can follow the progress easy. The English translation in cursive helps you to understand the language completely. But you are most welcome to bray and sing with us loud.The pronunciation of the letter`s are almost the same, like in German, but in the Arabic language they have some special letter`s who not exist in German. These are marked and in the following explain.
kh in the Arabic language is only one letter and is pronounced like the German letters “ch”.
d is a stronger pronounced letter than the normal “d”
h is a stronger pronounced letter than the normal “h” and normally formed deeper in the throat.
q is pronounced like a K, but deeper down in the throat.
s is extremely strong pronounced, also formed deeper in the throat.
s is normally pronounced, just like in the English language.
sh is one letter in Arabic pronounced like the “sh” in “share”.
t is a very strongly pronounced letter, also formed deeper in the throat.
th is similar to the English pronunciation.
gh is a letter softer than the letter G in English there is no letter in English to make it easier for you, but it is when we say for instance Ghana.
‘ in Arabic it is (Ain) and this is a letter pronounced by pushing your pharynx out, it’s hard to be spoken out for foreigners.
’ is formed in the upper part of your throat by just pushing it, it is like “A” in Adam for instance.

ZU JERUSALEM!
Dieses Heftchen ermöglicht Ihnen, den Gottesdienst in arabischer Sprache besser verfolgen zu können. Die arabische Liturgie ist in Umschrift vorhanden und übersetzt, damit Sie den liturgischen Verlauf nachvollziehen und durch die deutsche Übersetzung in der kursive Schrift den Gottesdienst besser verstehen können. Sie sind aber auch eingeladen laut mitzubeten und mitzusingen.Die Aussprache der meisten Buchstaben ist Ihnen aus der deutschen Sprache bekannt, aber die arabische Sprache kennt einige Buchstaben, die in der deutschen Sprache nicht vorhanden sind. Diese sind in der Umschrift gekennzeichnet und ihre Aussprache im Folgenden erklärt:
ch ist in der arabischen Sprache nur ein Buchstabe und wird wie in dem deutschen Wort ‚doch’ ausgesprochen.
d wird etwas dumpfer als ein D ausgesprochen, was in der Regel die umliegenden Vokal dunkel einfärbt.
h wird im Gegensatz zu dem H hechelnd ausgesprochen. So, als wären Sie zur Kirche gerannt und noch etwas außer Atem. Die beide H kommen in der arabischen Sprache vor und sind in der Umschrift durch den Unterstrich unterschieden. Das scharfe H hat einen Unterstrich, das weiche H nicht.
j wird wie im Englischen (Jeans, Jazz) ausgesprochen.
q wird ähnlich wie ein K ausgesprochen, aber ganz tief unten im Rachen gebildet.
r Die arabische Sprache kennt zwei R, das Zungen-R, wie es aus Franken bekannt ist, und das Rachen-R, wie es im norddeutschen Raum gesprochen wird. Der Unterstrich bedeutet, das das R im Rachen gerollt wird.
s wird scharf ausgesprochen, wie im deutschen Wort „Hass“.

th ist aus der englischen Sprache bekannt und wird weich wie in ‚that’ ausgesprochen.
y In der Umschrift steht das Y für das J wie in Jakob.
z ist das weiche S. Es wird ausgesprochen wie in dem Wort ‚Sahne’.
‘ ist ein Buchstabe, der im Rachen gebildet wird. Versuchen Sie am besten den Kehlkopf verschlossen zu halten und ein wenig Luft rauszupressen.
’ ist ein Kehlverschlusslaut, der auch in der deutschen Sprache vorkommt, allerdings nicht als eigener Buchstabe. Zu sprechen ist es wie die kurze Pause zwischen E und I in ‚beinhalten’.
Es hört sich alles komplizierter an, als es in Wirklichkeit ist. Viel Spaß beim Ausprobieren und einen gesegneten Gottesdienst!
