TAKE YOUR FIGHT INTO THE SPIRITUAL REALM, WITH US!

The Eagle does not fi ght the snake on the ground.

It picks it up into the sky and changes the battle ground, and then it releases the snake into the sky.

The snake has no stamina, no power and no balance in the air. It is useless, weak and vulnerable unlike on the ground where it is powerful wise and deadly.

Take your fi ght into the spiritual realm by praying and when you are in the spiritual realm God takes over your battles.

Don’t fi ght the enemy in his comfort zone, change the battle grounds like the Eagle and let God take charge through your earnest prayer.

You’ll be assured of clean victory.”

(Taken from: http://www.ultrakulture.com/2015/10/11/eagle-vs-snake-take-your-fi ght-into-the-spiritual-realm/ )

What a great opportunity Lent provides to take all our battles into a higher realm. When the devil tempted Jesus, he was on a 40-day retreat in the desert. Prayer surrounds Jesus with God’s shield and protection. Lent leads us to be more attentive to God’s Word. After each temptation and every temptation, Jesus rebuked the devil’s wiles by countering with a quote from Scriptures. An old saying goes: “Unless we have within us that which is above us (i.e., God and His Word), we will easily yield and fall to everything that is around us.”

Please join us in our Lent Journey. We are one in this. We have to be together. Animal instinct is amazing. They know this. That’s why deer and antelope and giraffes and zebras and even tricer-atops travel in herds. That’s not just because they like each other. That’s because, in a herd, they’re protected against lions and tigers and T-Rexes.

Here’s the rule of the jungle: If you’re alone, you’re dead. Your days are numbered.

Unless a lion is really hungry, it’ll ponder a hundred times before attacking a herd. But if you’re all alone, the lion won’t even think. He’ll just attack.

That means that if you’re alone, you’re multiplying your chances of falling by a hundred times.

Remember the passage?: “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour, (Peter 5:8).”

If you’re alone, I suggest you join a herd. Come and Celebrate Lent with us at St. Raphael! We’re A Special Herd.

This week’s learning session was about Bartimaeus, a blind beggar who was healed by Jesus. He is mentioned by name in Mark 10:46-52. He was sitting on his mat begging, as one of the children was acting out. When he heard that Jesus was near, he shouted out for Him to have mercy. When Jesus heard him, He healed him. This is another one of Jesus’ miracles.

2020 LENTEN REGULATIONS1. The days of both Fast and Abstinence during Lent are Ash

Wednesday and Good Friday. If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday night) as the “paschal fast” to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus, and to prepare ourselves to share more fully and to celebrate more readily His Resurrection. The other Fridays of Lent are days of Abstinence.

On a day of Fast, only one (1) full meal is permitted, and two (2) smaller meals, which, if added together,

would not exceed the main meal in quantity. Those between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast.

On a day of Abstinence, no meat may be eaten. Those who have reached the age of 14 are obliged

by the law of abstinence.2. The obligation to observe the laws of Fast and Abstinence

“substantially”, or as a whole, is a serious obligation.3. The Fridays of the year, outside of Lent, are designated as days

of penance, but each individual may substitute for the tradi-tional abstinence from meat some other practice of voluntary self-denial as penance.

4. The time for fulfi lling the Paschal Precept (Easter Duty*) extends from the First Sunday of Lent, March 1, 2020 to The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, June 7, 2020.

*Canon 920, § 1.All the faithful, after they have been initiated into the Most Holy Eucharist, are bound by the obligation of receiving Communion at least once a year.
