THE PATHWAY TO YOUR AVIATION
CAREER
PREPARE FORTAKE-OFF
The International Aviation Academy – Norwich (IAAN) is a brand-new, purpose-built training academy that will create the next generation of aviation professionals. We offer training across all six of the Aviation Skills Partnership’s areas of aviation:
• Professional Pilot
• Air Traffic Control
• Airport Operations
• Operations & Crewing
• Cabin Crew
• Engineering & Maintenance
…. and more!
We have created a unique and original real world
learning environment that will truly allow our students to
experience the aviation industry. Our facilities include a full
size operational aeroplane and helicopter for unrivalled
accuracy in our aviation simulations. We will welcome a
broad range of local, national, and international students
and delegates, and will raise the standards of learning
within the aviation industry.
One of the mainstream programmes within the academy
will see up to 80 new aviation engineers being trained per
year. They will start training at the age of 16. Across this
and other courses, we expect a typical year to see 450
people being trained for local, national and international
aviation jobs.
We will also connect with the local schools, colleges, and
universities, creating opportunities for children as young
as 8 to link with the academy.

EXPERTISE ANDKNOWLEDGE
2
Located on the site of Norwich International Airport, one of the best-connected regional airports in the UK, we couldn’t be any closer to the aviation industry.
IAAN will integrate all aspects of academic skills, practical/
industry skills, and soft skills. Our trainers, tutors,
teachers, and lecturers will provide world-class training,
teaching and learning across the multiple skills required
for the industry.
IAAN will put Norwich on the world aviation skills map,
enabling local people to access national and international
jobs, and enabling international students to access our
world-class expertise.
IAAN is the first of Aviation Skills Partnership’s (ASP’s)
skills academies. It is a unique collaboration of employers,
trainers, educators, funding bodies, government, industry
and, of course, students and delegates. As more are
opened across the country, access to expertise and
resources will grow even further. We will provide students
with a comprehensive, cutting edge, and hands-on
training, unrivalled anywhere.

PATHWAYS TO PROFESSIONALISM
3
It’s important to us that our students and delegates not only acquire all the relevant training, but that they have a clear pathway straight into the aviation industry.
With capacity for over 450 students from age 16, we will
offer a range of aviation and allied programmes. These
include the first example of the new industry-based BSc
(Hons) Professional Aviation Engineering Practice. This
practice-based degree fully integrates the classroom,
workshop, on-aircraft, and required regulatory (EASA)
training, all within the Training and Business Centre. The
course is validated by University of East Anglia under their
partnership with City College Norwich, delivered by KLN
Engineering, and based on an Aviation Skills Partnership
framework.
In addition, the Academy offers many pathways delivered
on- and off-site through partner schools, colleges, UTCs,
academies and universities, including:
• Aviation engineering courses and apprenticeships
from age 16
• Aircraft technology and type courses
• Cabin crew integrated training
• Airport operations training including passenger
service agent and dispatch
• Human factors and safety management training
• Management and non-aviation courses
More details can be found in the IAAN Course Guide.

WHY NORWICHAND THE EAST?
The region has well-educated people who have, and continue to, aspire to achieve great things across many sectors. Norwich is a world-class city linked to the global community by one of the most connected regional airports in the world and is part of a region that boasts one of the fastest growing regional economies in the UK.
Norwich and the East of the UK have a proud aviation
heritage. For example, Norwich is the home of the first
commercial metal-built aeroplane in the world and has a
reputation for training some of the world’s best aviation
engineers. Many other firsts and pioneering moves-
forward happened in this part of the country.
Building on that success, IAAN’s partnership with KLM UK
Engineering, Norwich International Airport, key local and
national employers, and other airport users, is key to our
hands-on, practical, real-world approach to the full range
of aviation training.
The support of Norfolk County Council, New Anglia
Local Enterprise Partnership, Norwich City Council,
Broadland District Council, and various MPs,
has been instrumental in getting the academy
project off the ground in record time.
The expertise, assistance, and support of Aviation Skills
Partnership, NPS Group, WT Partnership, and RG Carter
has enabled this project to reach fruition and to meet its
full potential.
IAAN operates in an area which understands the value
of the UK aviation industry and that wants to invest in its
future.
