Save the Date: Our
Meeting Schedule
12
Volume 14, Issue 2 February 1, 2014
It’s hard to find out what’s really happening on the border be-tween Mexico and the U.S. be-cause the main-stream media isn’t telling us. But if you want to learn the truth from some-one who has first-hand experi-
ence, then attend our February meeting.
Retired border agent, and National Associ-ation of Former Border Patrol Officers (NAFBPO) chairman, Zach Taylor, won’t keep the real story from us.
In 2012, Taylor told The Blaze
that “the main problem [regarding our borders] is that the American press is working in conjunction with the [Obama] administration to keep the facts about what is happening in Mexico and Central America a secret.”
Stated Taylor, “Our institutions have been corrupted, the 4th estate has been corrupted. It is a tool of disinformation… A psychological warfare operation being waged against the American people us-ing things to deflect their attention.”
If you’ve wanted to know the truth about our southern border, now is your chance. And be sure to tell your friends and neighbors! Everyone who cares about where our country’s headed must hear what Taylor has to say.
On the Menu:

Fixings on a French Roll

true.
Congressman Salmon: “SUCCESS IS BASED ON HOW MUCH CRAP WE STOP”…how true is that? This so-called “do nothing congress” has saved us from so much horrible legislation.
Congressman Franks: “THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS THE ONLY THING THAT STANDS BETWEEN US AND ANARCHY.” We must work hard to keep Arizona RED and keep the House. I think we have a good chance at taking the Senate as well….and as Con-gressman Gosar said: “THIS IS THE YEAR OF THE THUNDERING HERD OF ELEPHANTS”.
The GOP Rising Stars Program was launched at this year’s RNC summer meeting. Their goal is to high-light young talent within our Party. Kimberly Yee, State Senator from LD 10, was named as one of our many Rising Stars. We hope to hear from her at one of our luncheons. So, I will end this with another quote from Congressman Franks: “THIS IS NOT YOUR DAD’S REPUBLICAN PARTY ANYMORE, WE ARE NO LONGER THE PARTY OF CHECKERED PANTS”!!
Can I hear an Amen to that, sisters…

WOW…did we have a terrific January or what?? I am still just so thrilled with all of your efforts in making us the Arizona State Republican Club of the Year!! There are too many of you to name, and I do not want to inad-vertently miss anyone so I’m just going with:
THANK YOU, ONE AND
ALL!!! Now, get ready for a repeat!!!!
At the GOP meeting on the 25th we listened to our Congressmen, our Sherriff and our Governor. Each one gave a great speech, and I copied some of their quotable lines.
Gov. Brewer: “We need to win to clean up this HOR-RIFIC MESS MADE BY OBAMA” – I loved that line be-cause it is so true. We need to start working for our candidates as soon as they are up and ready for us.
Doug Ducey has an office open at 44th and Camelback for all of you who are so inclined. I have not heard of any other campaign offices yet, but I will keep you posted. Sherriff Joe: “WE DO NOT RACIALLY PROFILE, WE LOCK EVERYBODY UP”! A bit of comic relief…but it’s

We are continuing to supply
products for the Vista del
Camino Food Bank.
In February, please consider bringing the fol-
lowing food and toiletries items:
Critical Food Needs:
Canned chicken, beans, pasta and canned
tomatoes
Toiletries:
Tooth brushes, toothpaste, shampoo,
soap, feminine hygiene products, men’s
and women’s razors, shaving cream,
lotions, deodorant
The family of seven (five children, two adults) that
we adopted at Christmas via Vista del Camino sent us
a Thank You note. A copy is provided above.
Don Jans, author, speaker, and expert on Marxism, was our January keynote speak-er. Jans kicked off his talk with these words: “Do it or we’re done.”
We don’t have much time to stop the big govern-ment take over of our country and our lives. Day after day, unelected bureaucrats are making more and more rules and regulations which take away more and more of our freedoms. We must stop the encroachment now, or the country’s soul, as we’ve come to know it, will be forever changed. It’s not too late to stop the takeover. Jans says he will go to his grave fighting for his grandchildren. We must commit to the fight as well. We’ve got lots of work to do to ensure victory in November.
Page 5 January Meeting Recap
Do It or We’re Done
Our last meeting was held on Wednesday, January 15th.
Here’s a sampling of the lovely ladies and handsome men in
attendance!
Paula Linker
The campaign season has begun. Even in Arizona this
year we have crowded primary fields. We must re-
search, compare, and then select our choices wisely.
Recently, I attended an event where Matt Kibbe, Free-
dom Works, Senator Mike Lee from Utah, and Rep.
David Schweikert (AZ CD9) spoke.
Kibbe addressed the Texas Gubernatorial race. Greg
Abbott, although highly qualified and experienced,
faces a monstrous out-of-state wave to defeat him.
One of the Democrat party’s major goals is to turn Tex-
as blue. The people and methodologies used in Colora-
do are being used in Texas. (Not Kibbe’s comment, but
mine—the Democrats are also targeting Arizona in an
attempt to turn us blue.)
Although Abbott has raised a lot of money, Wendy
Davis has raised over $12M and is surpassing him.
There is an attempt to reach all of those infrequent
Texas voters. Those of us that have worked on cam-
paigns in the past, know the various Get Out the Vote
techniques. Somehow we will have to find ways to
help Texas after we help our own candidates.
Kibbe also mentioned that Republicans tend to con-
centrate on policy rather than politics. The Demo-
crats concentrate on politics and win elections. Poli-
tics involve personal energy and involvement. More
on that at another time.
Senator Mike Lee, R-Utah, spoke to the problem of
our growing debt.
David Schweikert reminded us that our total U. S.
national indebtedness (debt +unfunded long term
financial commitments) is considerably greater than
all of the wealth of the world.
Please consider the sources when you make political
contributions. Sometimes committees spring up
claiming to support a candidate. Sometimes these are
more fund raising tools for the committee than the
candidates. When you contribute, either contribute
at an event or at her / his official website. If you are
considering a contribution to an organization, be sure
to check its website because its educational arm has
a provision for a tax-deductible donation.

Candidates!
QUALIFYING PETITIONS: Each candidate
must obtain and file a specified number of
signatures in order to qualify to run for of-
fice. Your signature is not a promise to vote
for, work for, or donate to the candidate.
This is step one in the electoral process. At
our monthly meetings, please stop by the
Petition Table and sign the petitions of
your choice.

Notes on America
Speaking of Ronald Reagan...one of his famous quotes is as follows:
"Freedom is the right to question and change the estab-
lished way of doing things. It is the continuous revolution of the marketplace. It is the understanding that allows us to
recognize shortcomings and seek solutions".
Plus this, a bumper sticker recently spotted in Scotts-dale: "What Would Ronald Reagan do?"
Noteworthy! With Loralee DeSanto as editor,
in 2013 The Patriot was named the best club
newsletter by the National Federation of Re-
publican Women.
If you like the information you read here, be sure to follow our website. We
post News and Commentary almost every day, Monday through Friday. This
information is taken from one of our mostly recent daily postings. The
articles provided below were posted on Wednesday, February 5.
Stories of the Day Whatever this guy is drinking, he needs to stop--NOW. “Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said the Congressional Budget Office report that shows Obamacare will make the labor force lose 2.3 million full-time workers by 2021 is positive because it lets Americans be “free agents.” “We have the CBO report, which rightfully says, that people shouldn’t have job lock. If they — we live in a country where there should be free agency. People can do what they want,” Reid told reporters outside of a closed policy luncheon. ‘And what they’re saying here is — and the fact checkers have already done this — the Republicans talk about losing millions of jobs simply isn’t true. It allows people to get out of a job they’re locked into, because of — they have healthcare in their job.’” Reid: Obamacare Doesn’t Cost Jobs, It Turns Workers Into ‘Free Agents’
Not ready. “On the more mundane side of Sochi dysfunction, he says, is a deluge of half-finished projects, including uno-pened hotels and some where workers have yet to install heaters and air conditioners. There's a mall where the only oper-ating store is a Cinnabon. And some projects are completed but shoddily done. Segal says he accidentally pulled the handles off two doors in the Bolshoy Ice Dome, and said stray dogs were able to enter the heavily guarded media center.” New Arri-vals Are Finding a 'Soviet-Style Dystopia' in Sochi
Obamacare
“Democrats who plan on facing the voters this November by trying to change the subject to discussions of the minimum wage or vague talk about inequality must think again. Ignoring the devastating impact of ObamaCare on an economy that is still not fully recovered is not a winning strategy. Faced with an electorate that knows they are paying a heavy price in jobs, increased health-care costs, and poorer coverage, Democrats are going to have to do better than to tell the people that ObamaCare can’t be discussed.” CBO Political Dynamite: OCare Job Losses

Submitted by Nita Natoli
I am a "sea to shining sea" woman having been born on
the East Coast (Brooklyn) of our great country and moving
with my family at age 11 to the West Coast (Thousand
Oaks). As a United Airlines employee, I commuted from
LAX to JFK hundreds of times. But, having attended
college at Arizona State University (ASU), my heart be-
came set on living in Arizona, and that dream came true
almost three years ago when my 13 year old son and I
moved to this great state.
Upon settling in Arizona, I wanted to get connected in the
political community so I joined PVRW right away. I like the
focus on important issues and the warmth and friendship
found among the women.
PVRW members know me as strong volunteer and a ca-
reer woman who is currently a college professor.
If you want to know where my heart is, I have been fasci-
nated with airplanes and aviation since I was a little girl,
and had the good fortune to work in the airline industry
for many years. Recently, I completed a doctoral degree
in Organizational Leadership focusing on the airline indus-
try which included a research project: "A Study of the Re-
lationship between Executive Leadership Behaviors and

Airline Profitability.” In addition to professional goals in
the airline industry, I am eager to benefit the community
with service on related boards or commissions, as
a volunteer.
Hooked on education, I am also completing a Master's
Degree in Emergency Management and Disaster Plan-
ning and a Law Degree.
To relax, I retire to my craft room where I hand make
afghans and other items to donate to the homeless here
in the Greater Phoenix area.
My life has afforded me incredible opportunities to meet
influential politicians, and celebrities. In our neighbor-
hood in Thousand Oaks, I still remember seeing Ronald
Reagan walking around town. Later as President, he
would give many of my friends' parent's appointments in
his administration. Once at the Reagan Library, Nancy
Reagan had called me over to speak with me. We had a
nice conversation going until the secret service pulled
her away. She was very warm and gracious and I wish I
had had more time to speak with her.
In closing, I share one of my most interesting non-
political memories! As a flight attendant, I even had
George Clooney ask for my phone number!

Palo Verde Republican Women (PVRW) was
chartered in January 1974 under the guidance
of Mrs. Joan Wood who became the club’s first
president. Most of the charter members had
been a part of Scottsdale Republican Women,
one of the most active groups in the state of
Arizona. The club eventually withdrew from
the National Federation of Republican Women
and member Joan Wood and others who
wished to remain in the Federation formed
PVRW. From the beginning, PVRW maintained
a reputation as a vigorous and active club, and
has remained a powerful force within the Fed-
eration to this day. We educate our members
through programs presented at our monthly
meetings (the third Wednesday of every
month—except July and August), through our
monthly newsletter (The Patriot), and by
attending AzFRW quarterly meetings.
