?The person and work of Jesus

As Lord (theos and Kurios), As Saviour, As man

    1. Isa 43:11 I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior.2. Isa 45:21 Declare what is to be, present it-- let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long

ago, who declared it from the distant past? Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no God apartfrom me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me.

    3. Isa 49:26 I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh; they will be drunk on their own blood,as with wine. Then all mankind will know that I, the LORD, am yourSavior, your Redeemer, theMighty One of Jacob."

    4. Isa 60:16 You will drink the milk of nations and be nursed at royal breasts. Then you will knowthat I, the LORD, am yourSavior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

    5. Isa 62:11 The LORD has made proclamation to the ends of the earth: "Say to the Daughter ofZion, 'See, yourSaviorcomes! See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanieshim.' "

    6. Isa 63:8 He said, "Surely they are my people, sons who will not be false to me"; and so hebecame theirSavior.

    7. Hos 13:4 But I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt. You shall acknowledge noGod but me, no Saviorexcept me.

    8. Mic 7:7 But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hearme.

    9. Exo 15:2 The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God,and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him.

    10. 2Ch 6:41 Now arise, O LORD God, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of yourmight. May your priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, may your saints rejoice in yourgoodness.

    11. Psa 27:1 Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear? The LORD is thestronghold of my life-- of whom shall I be afraid?

    12. Psa 35:3 Brandish spear and javelin against those who pursue me. Say to my soul, "I am yoursalvation."

    13. Psa 40:16 But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love yoursalvation always say, "The LORD be exalted!"

    14. Psa 62:6 He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.

    15. Psa 69:13 But I pray to you, O LORD, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answerme with your sure salvation.

    16. Psa 71:15 My mouth will tell of your righteousness, of yoursalvation all day long, though I knownot its measure.

    17. Psa 74:12 But you, O God, are my king from of old; you bring salvation upon the earth.18. Psa 85:9 Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land.19. Psa 91:14 Because he loves me, says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he

acknowledges my name.20. Psa 91:15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver

    him and honor him.

    21. Psa 91:16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."

    22. Isa 26:18 We were with child, we writhed in pain, but we gave birth to wind. We have not broughtsalvation to the earth; we have not given birth to people of the world.

    23. Isa 45:17 But Israel will be saved by the LORD with an everlasting salvation; you will never be putto shame or disgraced, to ages everlasting.

    24. Isa 51:6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish likesmoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation willlast forever, my righteousness will never fail.

Heb 9:23 It was necessary, then, for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified withthese sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices thanthese.

Heb 9:24 For Christ did not enter a man-made sanctuary that was only a copy of thetrue one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God's presence.

Heb 9:25 Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the highpriest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own.Heb 9:26 Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the

world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away withsin by the sacrifice of himself.

Heb 9:27 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,Heb 9:28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he

will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who arewaiting for him.

Rev 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead,

and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us fromour sins by his blood,

Heb 7:18 The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and uselessHeb 7:19 (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which

we draw near to God.Heb 7:20 And it was not without an oath! Others became priests without any oath,Heb 7:21 but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him: "The Lord has

sworn and will not change his mind: 'You are a priest forever.' "Heb 7:22 Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.

    Heb 7:23 Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them fromcontinuing in office;

Heb 7:24 but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.Heb 7:25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him,

because he always lives to intercede for them.Heb 7:26 Such a high priest meets our need--one who is holy, blameless, pure, set

apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.Heb 7:27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after

day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for theirsins once for all when he offered himself.

Heb 7:28 For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which

came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

Col 2:13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinfulnature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,

Col 2:14 having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us andthat stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.

Col 2:15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacleof them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Col 2:16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regardto a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

Col 2:17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is

    found in Christ.

Death has been deafeted Rom 5:21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace mightreign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Eph 2:1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,Eph 2:2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the

ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who aredisobedient.

Eph 2:3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinfulnature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by natureobjects of wrath.

Eph 2:4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,Eph 2:5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by

grace you have been saved.Eph 2:6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly

realms in Christ Jesus,Eph 2:7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his

grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.Eph 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from

yourselves, it is the gift of God--Eph 2:9 not by works, so that no one can boast.Eph 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,

which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Rom 6:3 Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus werebaptized into his death?

Rom 6:4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that,

just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too maylive a new life.Rom 6:5 If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be

united with him in his resurrection.Rom 6:6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin

might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin--Rom 6:7 because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.Rom 6:8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.

Rom 6:9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again;death no longer has mastery over him.

Rom 6:10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives toGod.

Rom 6:11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ

Jesus.Rom 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evildesires.

Rom 6:13 Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, butrather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life;and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.

Rom 6:14 For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but undergrace.

Rom 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Byno means!

Rom 6:16 Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as

slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey--whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?Rom 6:17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you

wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted.Rom 6:18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.Rom 6:19 I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just

as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading toholiness.

Rom 6:20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control ofrighteousness.

Rom 6:21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamedof? Those things result in death!

Rom 6:22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves toGod, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesusour Lord.

1Jo 5:16 If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he shouldpray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that.

Heb 10:29 How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished whohas trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the bloodof the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?

    ----------------

Heb 12:4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of sheddingyour blood.

    How to resist Sin?

    1Pe 1:14-2:12

Gal 5:24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with itspassions and desires.

Gal 5:25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

    Jam 1:13-16 When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannotbe tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;

Jam 1:14 but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away andenticed.

Jam 1:15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

Jam 1:16 Don't be deceived, my dear brothers.

Eph 2:1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,Eph 2:2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the

ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who aredisobedient. (contrast it with Efes 3:30 there is another Spirit within us at work withinus)

Eph 2:3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinfulnature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by natureobjects of wrath.

1Pe 4:1 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the sameattitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin.

1Pe 4:2 As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.

1Pe 4:3 For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do--living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.

1Pe 4:4 They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of

dissipation, and they heap abuse on you.1Pe 4:5 But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living andthe dead.

Rom 13:14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think abouthow to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

Phi 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whateveris pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent orpraiseworthy--think about such things.

Jam 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

1Co 15:34 Come back to yoursenses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there aresome who are ignorant of God--I say this to your shame.

1Co 15:34 Come back to your senses ( awake to righteousness) as you ought, and stopsinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God--I say this to your shame.

2Ti 2:26 and that they will come to theirsenses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

2Ti 2:26 and that they will come to theirsenses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

Rom 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodiesas living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.

Rom 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed bythe renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's willis-- his good, pleasing and perfect will.

1Jo 2:15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, thelove of the Father is not in him.

1Jo 2:16 For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes andthe boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the Father but from the

world.1Jo 2:17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God

    lives forever.

What should we wear (clothe yourselves with Christ)

Rom 13:8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love oneanother, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.

Rom 13:9 The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do notsteal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, aresummed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

Rom 13:10 Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of thelaw.

Rom 13:11 And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you towake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we firstbelieved.

Rom 13:12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the

deeds of darkness and puton the armor of light.Rom 13:13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness,

not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.Rom 13:14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about

how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

Eph 4:21 Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth

that is in Jesus.Eph 4:22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self,

which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;Eph 4:23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;Eph 4:24 and to puton the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and

seen the Father.Joh 6:47 I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.Joh 6:48 I am the bread of life.Joh 6:49 Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died.Joh 6:50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat

and not die.Joh 6:51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this

bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of theworld."

Joh 6:52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, "How can this mangive us his flesh to eat?"

Joh 6:53 Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son ofMan and drink his blood, you have no life in you.Joh 6:54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise

him up at the last day.Joh 6:55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.Joh 6:56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.Joh 6:57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one

who feeds on me will live because of me.Joh 6:58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate mannaand died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever."

Phi 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from thelaw, but that which is through faith in Christ-- the righteousness that comes from Godand is by faith.
