The Pesach Story in Widgets (Pictures)
By Mrs. Esther Hirsch
Grade Level: Early Childhood, Special Education Description: This helpful resource for pre-readers or special needs students depicts the Pesach story in widgets (pictures for the words). This is useful for those who are unable to read but enjoy listening to stories. The pictures help the students focus on the story and point to characters and pictures as prompts to tell over the story. Goals/Objectives: Students will identify main characters and events in the story by following the story line of the Pesach story through the pictures. Materials Needed:
• Laminate • Binding materials
Instructions:
1. Color copy the pages of the Pesach story. 2. Laminate. 3. Bind the pages into a book. 4. Read the story to the class/students. 5. For those who are able, ask them to point to characters or say the names.
Variation:
• Enlarge the pages to a larger size and compile the pages into a big book. Read it to the students and then keep the Big Book in an accessible place or center in the classroom. Encourage the students to “read” the book to themselves and to each other.
