Planning

1. Before you begin your Power Point Presentation, you must have a plan in mind. First, you must have an idea of the topic.

2. After you have a topic, you must move on to generate questions about your topic, if you are not assigned any.

3. If you are assigned questions in reference to your topic, you must move on to research information on what the questions might be addressing.

4. It is extremely important to cite the information that you obtain throughout your research, to include data and images.

Choosing the Slides

1. Once you have your data, you will be ready to go access the Power Point Program and begin your presentation. The first thing that you must do is choose a new slide template. Keeping in mind that you will be working first, on your Title Page, it is appropriate to choose the Title Page Slide.

2. After you choose your slides, you will be able to type your text within the boxes and you will continue to choose the rest of your slides, based on your information and content.

**Within your first page (Cover Page) your title must include the title of the topic that

you will be addressing.**

Adding your ImagesOnce you have added text, you

would need to insert your images.

There are to several simple ways to insert pictures.

1. You could insert pictures by clicking on your insert tab, scrolling down to picture, and moving left to clip art. U can choose from the variety of images, that the program itself offers.

2. You could also do a simple copy and paste option. By simply clicking at a desired image you can copy it and then paste it on the desired slide.

Adding Your Transitions

With the use of transitions, slides move on and off the screen.

Instructions 1. Switch to “Slide View”2. Click on “Slide Show”, in the

Main Menu3. Click “Slide Transitions”4. Select transition type (note its effect

and description as it appears below).

5.Within the transition, you can select the speed of the transition/whether you wan to change manually or automatically, after a specific number of seconds

Adding Animations to Slides

Animation features allows the text or images to appear a specific way.

Adding Video

Inserting Video into PowerPointWhen you have your video files, you can insert them directly into PowerPoint.

1. There is nothing complicated about inserting a video file into PowerPoint, as the steps are very similar to those for inserting sound:

2. Select Insert Menu < Movies and Sounds < Movie from File

3. Find the movie file in your folder and double-click on it.

Adding Music

Adding music to your Power Point Presentations will allow you to involve and engage the viewer into the topic.

Instructions • Go to “Insert Tab” on Power Point Tool Bar and

choose the “Movies and Sounds” icon. • Choose the “Sound from File”• Select from the File Type List (You will be asked

whether you want music to start automatically or only when button is clicked).

• Select “Custom Animation” under the “Slide Show Tab” and you will be able to select slides or the whole presentation.

Adding References

It is important to cite all the information and the images that will be included in your Power Point presentations.

Two ways of creating your references:

1. Log into www.recipes4success.com

2. Click on Bibliography Maker and choose the correct source of source.

3. Fill in the information requested.

4. After all sources are cited, copy the sources and paste them to a new slide Power Point Presentation.
