“speculations.” This is evident in

movies, books and television. There is a steady diet of spiritual

oriented material that is often not

based on Biblical truth, but on

human guessing and wishful

thinking. People are fascinated with the unknown and try to

define the unknown in ways that

make them comfortable. We need

to be people of the Word, who

know the Word of God and rely on

the truth of the Word. That is why we place a high emphasis on

becoming people who know and

obey God’s holy and inerrant

Scriptures.

I hope you have been praying

about your part in Faith Promise this year and have turned in a

commitment card. This is the

means by which we support world

missions and need all of our

people to play a part, either in giving or praying or both. If you

have not done so, please turn

your card in this Sunday or drop

it in the mail. We will give you the

results soon.

I hope your week is going well. See you Sunday.

—Dan

For though we walk in the

flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of

our warfare are not of the flesh,

but divinely powerful for the

destruction of fortresses. We

are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up

against the knowledge of God,

and we are taking every

thought captive to the obedi-

ence of Christ.

—II Corinthians 10:3-5

As our culture becomes more

secular, people replace the

absolute truths of Scripture for

Note from the Pastor:

ALL IN THE FAMILY

MOVEABLE FEAST - what indeed is a Moveable Feast you might be asking? Well at Chapin Pres, a Moveable Feast is a group of ladies who brunch after church on the first Sunday

of the month. Some ladies are older, some ladies are younger, some are married and some are not

married and all are really nice. We would love for you to join us! On June 1 we are going to Figaro’s in Newberry at 12:30 pm. Please call, or e-mail me ([email protected]) or Mikki Spigner ([email protected])

and let us add you to the reservation. (Figaro’s is where the old Delamaters used to be on Boice St.). See you Sunday! Love, Helen

First Touch Ministries:

9:15 AM Sunday—School Schedule for Teachers/Helpers:

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of

the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey

everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the

very end of the age.” —Matthew 28:19 & 20

Preschool version: “We can teach the world about Jesus.” —Matthew 28:19 & 20

HISKidZ are thinking about missions and helping others. If you haven’t already gotten a baby bottle, please

consider signing one out this Sunday. The children are encouraged to do extra chores and special jobs to earn

money to fill the bottle. The bottles should be returned by June 15. The money will go to Daybreak

Pregnancy Center to help protect babies.

Our lesson for this Sunday goes along with our sermons from Acts. We are in chapter 17, where Paul teaches

in Athens. Our emphasis is on God our Creator. Next Sunday, we will travel back to the Old Testament and see how all

of His Word connects to Jesus!

RIDGE HAVEN parents’ meeting: next Sunday, June 1 immediately after the 10:30 AM worship service. We

will meet briefly at the front of the worship center. I love you! Hope to see you Sunday! —Mrs. Jackie
