Christ Community Church Building on the Word

“The purpose of Christ Community Church is to glorify God in obedience to the Great Commission and the Great

Commandments.” Welcome to Worship at

Today is the Last Day of Our Summer Schedule We’ll resume our regular schedule NEXT SUNDAY: Christian education at 9:00, worship in the sanctuary at 10:30.

Congregational Mid-Year Meeting will be in the CAA during the Christian Education hour this morning. We’ll hear from program staff and elect a new nominating committee. Vote for two: Valarie Brandt, Kim Richards, and Jason Staton.

Baptism Tonight at 6:00pm by the old camp store in the south unit of the Beach State Park. Take Wadsworth east, bend left at the hotel, park in the large lot. We’ll be at the south end.

Behold Your God: Great Texts in Isaiah Next Sunday we’ll begin a sermon and worship series on the greatest of the writing prophets. “Across the years Isaiah has come to be known as ‘the prince of the prophets.’ A part of the reason for this title is the possibility that the prophet was a member of the royal family. While there is no indisputable evidence of this, the easy access to the kings that he seemed to enjoy may point in this direction. But the real basis of the claim is the nature of the book known by Isaiah’s name. There is a majesty in the book that sets it off from almost any other in the Bible. It contains an unparalleled sweep of theology, all the way from creation to the new heavens and new earth and from utter destruction to glorious redemption.” (John Oswalt, Isaiah, 17)

Dig Deeper Into Isaiah At the literature counter you’ll find a guide to this great prophet, The Message of Isaiah, by Barry Webb.

Welcome to Worship at Christ Community Church

August 25, 2019

The Lord is righteous in all his ways.

(Psalm 145:17)

This morning we conclude our summer sermon series with a message, “Angry at God?”

If we wish to render glory to God and bless his name properly, we must be persuaded that God does nothing without reason. So then, let us not attribute to him either cruelty or ignorance, as if he did things in spite and unadvisedly, but let us acknowledge that he proceeds in everything with admirable justice, with goodness and infinite wisdom in all that he does. (John Calvin)

New Hope Ministries Formerly known as Transformational Ministry of Love INC, New Hope Ministries will be holding two classes here at CCC on Monday nights. In the past, these classes were only available to those being helped by Love INC. This fall, the Affirming Potential class and the Boundaries class will be open to anyone.

Affirming Potential helps you evaluate your life, set and achieve goals, and live to your God-given potential.

Boundaries helps you learn when to say ‘yes’ and how to say ‘no’. You will learn to ‘own’ your choices and responsibilities so you can have control of your life.

Classes will be starting September 9th. If you would like to be a part of these classes, please contact the church office.

Convocation 2019 - September 22-29 “Within Reach” - Once again, we welcome several of our mission partners to celebrate what God is doing through CCC in our community and around the world. There will be many opportunities to hear reports from our missionaries: Special speakers each Sunday, Brown Bag Lunches at noon, Monday-Thursday, evening events Tuesday-Thursday, and a prayer meeting Sunday night, September 29. There are also opportunities to host a missionary family for a meal. Sign-ups are coming soon. We hope you will join us to hear of God’s mighty works!

Our Daily Bread The September-October-November issue is here. Get it at the Welcome Desk or in the church office. This popular devotional booklet is sent to CCC at no charge. If you use it, consider making a donation to that ministry.

GriefShare When a loved one dies, grieving that loss can take a long time, but you are not alone. GriefShare is here with a support group that provides encouragement and help as you go through the recovery process. We meet Mondays, 7-9pm, in the Parlor. The course is no cost.

Library We have a great Library at CCC located just off of the Fellowship Hall. The Library is open every Sunday or you can stop by during the week and the office staff can open it up for you. Most books referenced by Pastor Ken can be found in there along with so much more. The library is constantly updating its selection. Stop by today!

Love INC Staff Opening Love INC is looking for a compassionate soul with a heart for those in need to join our staff as Clearinghouse Coordinator. We are looking for a teammate with good administrative skills and who can lead a team of volunteers hearing the stories of those seeking help through Love INC. The is a full-time, 40 hour a week role. Please contact Pat at [email protected] or 847.782.8630 by Sept 30 for interest or more information.
