A Note From the Quacker Editor

This will not be a normal issue of The Quacker. Our park facilities are closed, and park activities are for the most part cancelled until further notice because of the Covid-19 pandemic, so we don’t have much news to report. Also, in order to comply with social distancing rules we’re foregoing a printed issue this month. However, the current issue of The Quacker is always available on the LJL HOA website (www.ljlhoa.org). Please visit the website often for the most up to date information about the status of our facilities and events. As you read this issue online, don’t forget our advertisers. I’m sure some of them are having a hard time right now, and they would appreciate our business. Hopefully next month we’ll be back to normal. Until then, thank you for your understanding and patience, and stay safe and healthy!

LJL GOLF LEAGUE

Even though our golf league season has ended, we still continue to

play golf on Tuesdays and Fridays. We have both men and women

participating.

The following rules are required by the government, and the golf

courses are doing a good job following them. While playing, we try

to keep 6 feet apart. We are riding one person per cart, and the golf

courses are cleaning the carts as soon as they are used. We do not

touch the flag sticks, and there are no rakes for the sand traps.

There are no water fountains available and the ball washers are all

closed. I have told all of our golfers that it is strictly up to them

whether to play at this time; however, we will continue to play as

long as the courses are open and we have participants. At this time I

reserve tee times for 12 players, but that can be adjusted as

necessary. You must wear shirts with collars and have your own

golf clubs. If you’re interested in joining us, contact me at (812)

830-9053, or by email at [email protected].

Our regular winter season ended with our tournament and then the

Coranavirus set in. Most of our snowbirds have returned to the

frigid north and to date as far as I know, we have no one that has

been infected. Unfortunately, we were not able to host a gala

sendoff for them and they will be missed sorely prior to their return.

Hopefully this virus will end soon and we can get back to normal!

Have a good month, Jerry Baker (Golf Chairman)
