President’s Report for July 2016 Another month goes by and another newsletter to do and Presidents report to draft up but as things are now progressing very well with the planning of the 2017 National Rally some significant information can now be provided of the Pre Rally events and the actual Rally events and printed in this edition is a full Rally entry form and itinerary. We have a number of sponsors on board to help us with staging the event and from this month will be highlighting those sponsors on a dedicated sponsors page. We encourage all our members to support these sponsors wherever they can and to promote them wherever appropriate. July is also the anniversary of the foundation of our club with this year being our 33rd. Early this month Peter Bourne and Pam Burk hosted a run to Wallaroo for a number of members and we visited some local scenery, collectable shops and the Wallaroo Tavern on the shores of the marina for a filling lunch before heading home for many while some of the locals had a chance for an easier afternoon. Next month on the 14th of August is our planned run with BBQ to the National Military Museum at Edinburgh so don’t miss out. Let me know if you are coming as the museum needs final numbers no later than the 8th of August. As the Royal Show approaches once again my time will become short as we start building for this event at the start of August so any assistance members can give to planning runs and doing write up would be much appreciated. Thanks once again must go to the members and friends that provide supper at each of our monthly meetings and to Vice President David Hurst for the printing of our monthly newsletter. The new financial year has just begun so the need to pay you membership dues are now here and to all those with vehicles on concessional registration your statuary statement is required as is the stamping of log books by our registrars. Remember you are legally unregistered if either a Stat Dec has not been processed, log book stamped or you are un-financial, the onus is on you. Don’t forget the AGM is at our monthly meeting on August 24th and in this newsletter are office holder nomination forms. Tim and Joanne Schapel *****************************************************************************************************

Joy’s Jokes from the Archives-1999 As an elderly man was driving down the freeway his car phone rang. Answering he heard his wife’s voice urgently warning him, “Herman I just heard on the radio news that there’s a car going the wrong way on the freeway, please be careful.” “Hell,” said Herman, “It’s not just one car, its hundreds of them.” 11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 A fellow had been lost and wandering in the desert for two weeks . At last he comes across the home of a missionary tired and weak he crawls up to the house and collapses on the back step. The missionary finds him there and nurses him back to health and when he is better he asks directions to the nearest town and asks if he can borrow the missionary’s horse. Sure the missionary says but there is something special about the horse that you need to know. To make him go you need to say “Thank God” and to make him stop you have to say “Amen”. The man say that won’t be a problem and immediately jumps on and heads off after saying “Thank God”. As he is going along at a walk he tries “Thank God, Thank God” and the horse begins to gallop. Pretty soon the man sees that they are heading for a cliff and he starts to do everything to stop the horse including “Whoa, hold it, stop etc.” to no avail as the horse continues in a gallop. Finally he remembers the “Amen” command and the horse stops inches away from the cliff edge. The man lets out a sigh of relief and says “thank God”. 22222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222 A husband is at home watching a football game and his wife interrupts “honey could you fix the light in the hallway? Its been flickering for weeks.” He looks at her and says angrily “Fix the light? Does it look like I have a GE logo on my forehead? I don’t think so.” “Well can you fix the fridge door then” she asks to which he responds “does it look like I have Westinghouse written on my forehead? I don’t think so.” “Fine” she then says “then could you at least look at the steps to the front door?” “I’m not a carpenter and I don’t want to fix the steps, does it look like I have ACE carpenter written on my forehead?. I don't think so.” He tires of this and heads off to the pub and after a few hours heads off home to find the front steps repaired, the fridge door closing correctly and the hall light repaired. “Honey” he said “how did you get all this fixed?” Well” she replied, “when you left I sat outside and cried and a nice man came along and asked me what was wrong. He offered to do all the repairs if I either made love to him or baked him a cake.” The husband said “what sort of cake did you bake him?” to which she replied, “hello, do I look like I have Sara Lee written on my forehead? I don’t think so!” 33333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 A father went to collect his five year old from school to take him to hospital to watch his mother have a new baby. The father and son were looking through the window and when the baby arrived the doctor held it up by the feet and smacked it’s bum. When the baby started to cry the little boy said “serves it right for getting there in the first place.” 44444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444 An American, a Pom and an Irishman were on Sale of the Century TV program. Tony asked them to complete the sentence with the appropriate word and spell the word. “old MacDonald had a ………….” The Yank said “Ranch R A N C H” Tony said wrong. The Pom said “Estate E S T A T E” Tony said wrong. The Irishman was feeling very cocky and said “Farm E I E I O”

THE R & S SERIES VALIANT CAR CLUB CRUISE TO WALLAROO 3rd July 2016 By Pam Burk On a cold but sunny Sunday morning the crews of 4 S series Valiants met Tim, Joanne & Patrick met with Liz & Richard, Peter & Trudy Kotz and daughter and grand daughter, Vince & Denise at the Caltex Service Station at 0930 ready for 0945 take off. Joy & Derek, Howard& Rae were met by Peter & Pam at Kipling’s Bakery, Port Wakefield where they partook of coffee and various pastries while waiting for the group from Ade-laide to catch up at 1030. On Joy’s instruction the 1 R series and 2 S series including Peter Bourne’s 31.9 Variety Bash car were lined up at the Yorke Peninsula Tourist Information centre for the first pho-to shoot. When the Adelaide mob turned up they too were added to the line-up and after another photo shoot (pirated by an army man) Peter Bourne led the way through some beautiful green, very well- watered bright green crops to Wallaroo . We all proceeded down the main street around to the foreshore and wharf and a photo shoot which included a man with two little dogs, then off past the Yacht Club to view

some very expensive real estate and the Wallaroo Marina. Here we were all again lined up as instructed by Joy for two more photo shoots. While here Howard met an old friend from the 1960s era. During a brief catch up the old friend told him he had married one sheila, divorced her and she took half. He then married another sheila who divorced

him and she took half and after many women he finds him-self in a hole which got him into the hole in the first place . We then all drove to the car park of the Ale House on the Marina where Vikki Day and friend in Vikki’s S series joined the group. Members appreciated the view and envi-ronment. Drinks and food were ordered and duly served. Everyone enjoyed lunch - some even being given a box for their uneaten portions of pizzas. Vince organized sales of the Lucky Numbers which was won by Liz Greig . After lunch we drove up the main street visiting Treasures & Treats and then some walked, some road to the Nautical

Museum where Howard & Rae ventured in to in-spect “George” the giant squid and other exhibits be-fore dispersing for homes at about 1500 hours.

Members thank Peter Bourne for a very enjoyable stress free cruise over less travelled country roads. Pam Burk
