Secretary’s ReportWe are presenting report of the activities of the Ramakrishna
Mission Seva Pratishthan for the year 2019-2020.Before we proceed with the operation details for the year, it would
not be out of place to give here a brief history of the origin andgrowth of the Pratishthan.
Brief History & GrowthThis institution, a branch centre of the Ramakrishna Mission, was
founded by Revered Swami Dayanandaji Maharaj, a disciple of theHoly Mother Sri Sarada Devi in its former name of “RamakrishnaMission Sishumangal Pratishthan” in a rented house in July 1932with an initial financial help from an American devotee Miss HelenRubel (Sister Bhakti). Domiciliary Maternity Service and OutdoorAntenetal and Postnatal clinic were started first, and a year later, theIndoor section with 7 beds for mothers and 9 beds for babies wasadded. Later, on a small plot of land purchased at 99, LansdowneRoad (now Sarat Bose Road) foundation stone of a permanent hospitalbuilding was laid on March 4, 1938 by the Most Revered SrimatSwami Vijnananandaji Maharaj, a direct disciple of Bhagavan SriRamakrishna and the fourth President of the Ramakrishna Math andRamakrishna Mission, which was completed as a 50-bed maternityhospital and consecrated on May 31, 1939 by Revered Srimat SwamiVirajanandaji Maharaj, the sixth President of the Ramakrishna Mathand Ramakrishna Mission. ‘Sishumangal’ thus found a new home ofits own and gained wide recognition as a model maternity and childwelfare centre.
In 1957, its Silver Jubilee Year, Sishumangal was renamed “SevaPratishthan” following the addition of some general beds for men,women and children in 1956. Additional construction followed in phasesand bed - strength also rose from time to time and reached 550 in1985.
The construction of the building of Vivekananda Institute of

Medical Sciences was started in 1977 with a kind and generousdonation from Shri Nandlal Tantia and done upto 2nd floor by 1982.The research centre housed in it was named “Rameshwar TantiaResearch Centre”. More funds were collected gradually and upto4th floor construction was completed in 1995-96.
Another newly constructed building had been completed in July2007 and inaugurated by Most Revered Srimat Swami GahananandajiMaharaj, the then President of Ramakrishna Math and RamakrishnaMission on the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee of this Pratishthan.
On the occasion of the celebration of the 150th Birth Anniversaryof Swami Vivekananda, a new project was taken in hand. It consistedof 1) Construction of A Diagnostic Centre Building; & 2) A fully-equipped Cath. Lab., Cardiac Care Unit, High Dependency Unit &Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery Unit. The entire project was namedas “Swami Vivekananda Diagnostic & Cardiac Care Centre”and was being done with the financial assistance from the Ministryof Culture, Government of India.
With addition of the abovementioned units, the following operations/investigations are being done in this Pratishthan successfully at a lowcost compared to other non-Govt. institutions in the State of WestBengal :-
Coronary Angiography, Coronary Angioplasty, Single &Double Chamber Pacemaker implantation, ASD Closure, MitralValve Replacement, Aortic Valve Replacement & Double ValveReplacement.
A new Cardiology Ward in the 5th Floor of Adhish Chandra SinhaBuilding has been inaugurated on 03-03-2019 by Srimat SwamiVimalatmanandaji Maharaj, Trustee, Ramakrishna Math, Member,Governing Body of Ramakrishna Mission and Adhyaksha,Ramakrishna Math, Yogodyan. The 38-bed ward has general bedsand Cabin facilities for male, female and paediatric cardiology patientswith an attached High Dependency Unit (HDU). The bed strengthrose to 684 in June 2020.
Fatehpuria Building of this Pratishthan has been totally refurbishedand rearranged. The details are as follows :-
1st Floor & 2nd Floor : Nursing Hostel
3rd Floor & 4th Floor : Classes of Basic & Post-Basic B.Sc. NursingCourse including Principal & Vice Principal’s office. Apart from that,a 3-bedded extended Nursing Hostel has also been arranged.
5th Floor : Library, Foundation, Nutrition Lab, Computer Lab etc.

A room for Lady Police has been set up in the Ground Floor of theMain Hospital Building, beside Central Table.
A separate room for Storage has also been set up at the GroundFloor of Main Hospital Building opposite Project Section.
A newly constructed gate which is called as Gate No. 2 has beensetup. Previously there was a room made of wood which stood forso many years. Due to security and other reasons it has beenchanged. A security staff has been posted in the room round theclock.

Maharaj, Founder-Secretary of this Institution, who passed away onJune 5, 1980, “Swami Dayananda Memorial Oration” wasintroduced to have important orations delivered by distinguishedpersons of our society. It was first held in 1981 and on some occasionsin following few years. From 1999, it is being held every year as apart of the Annual Scientific Conference.

In the Outdoor, all patients were given free consultation facilitiesand a large number of them lso got free treatment and investigation.In the Indoor, free and part-free treatment was given to 14.21% &13.46% patients respectively during the year 2019-20. Generally the outdoor clinics are held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. andregistration of patients is done from 8 to 9.30 a.m. For special clinichours and days, arrangements are made from time to time by givingdue notices.

1. Department of Anaesthesiology
The department conducted the following activities :
(a) Clinical Anaesthesia : During the year under review about8231 anaesthesias were administered to the patients ranging fromnew-born babies to the extreme age group. General Anaesthesia,Regional Anaesthesia of all types were extensively employed bothfor the benefit of patients and training of the resident staff & PGTs.
(b) Anaesthesia Clinic : Pre-anaesthetic clinic was held on allweekdays in order to complete the pre-anaesthetic check up andinvestigation so as to minimise the stay of the patients in the hospital.
(c) Resuscitation Unit for the respiratory crippled : This unithas all required equipment including ventilators and respirators. Victimsof drowning and various types of poisoning medical cases withrespiratory dysfunctioning are brought for resuscitation from time totime and are actively managed in collaboration with the Departmentof Medicine.
2. Department of Cardiology
Originally Cardiology Unit was a part of the Department ofMedicine; now it has become a separate department from01-01-2015. The outdoor is open on all weekdays. During the year2019-20, 6335 patients were treated in the outdoor and 1315 patientstreated in indoor. During the year under report, 790 Angiography,261 Angioplasty, 121 Permanent Pacemaker Implantation wereperformed.
3. Department of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery (CTVS)
This department started functioning from January 2016. Duringthe year under review, 1 BMV, 3 PAG, 6 PE were performed.
4. Department of Chemotherapy
The outdoor is open on all weekdays. During the year 2019-20,175 patients were treated in the outdoor.

5. Department of DentistryThis department was started in 1963. During the year 2019-20,
10742 cases were treated in the outdoor clinic. The clinic was openon all weekdays.
6. Department of EndocrinlogyPreviously it was a Unit under the Department of General
Medicine. It has become a separete Department from the year 2017.During 2019-20, the number of patients treated in the outdoor andindor section were 8772 and 90 respectively.
7. Dept. of Otolaryngology (ENT) and Head & Neck SurgeryStarted in 1963, this department was developed into a self-
sufficient unit providing all kinds of services. Specialised rehabilitationservices were also offered. During the year under review 18445cases in the Outdoor section and 490 in the Indoor section weretreated. 662 Operations were also done during the year. The outdoorsection was open on all weekdays.
Highly specialised surgery like microsurgery of the ear fortreatment of various forms of deafness and chronic discharges fromthe ear as mentioned below are done :-
* Tympanoplasty, Stapedectomy, Stapedotomy, Atticoantrostomy,Modified Radical Mastoidectomy,
* ESS (Endoscopic Sinus Surgery), CSF Rhinorrhea repair,removal of benign and malignant nasal mass.
* Operations on face and neck like surgery of thyroid, parotid,submandibular gland, laryngectomy (total and partial).
* Voice clinic for hoarseness* Cochlear implantThis department has a fully air-conditioned chamber and a sound
proof cubicle inside with an excellent sound system and audiometricarrangements. All forms of deafness and speech problems(deafmutism, stuttering, voice problems, autism, brain damage,mongolism etc.) were dealt with in the Hearing and Speech Clinic.This special clinic had been aiding hearing impaired children.

The group activity clinic was held on every working day of thehospital. The assessment clinic together with individual parentcounselling had a bi-weekly session on Tuesdays and Fridays. Thereis a very good collection of books on problems of speech and hearingand allied problems housed in the library of Vivekananda Institute ofMedical Sciences.
Previously this clinic was mainly concerned with problems ofdeafmutism and stuttering. Presently, however, cases of autism, braindamage or cerebral palsy are receiving a lot of attention. Similarly,the age-range has also greatly widened with the very young (below6 months of age) and the middle-aged (above fifty) attending theclinic in increasing number as information about the clinic is spreadingfar and wide.
This Pratishthan is successfully conducting Cochlear ImplantSurgeries under ADIP Scheme with association of Ali Yavar JungNational Institute of Speech & Hearing Disabilities(Divyangjan), Mumbai. During the year under report, 2 surgerieshave been done.
8. Department of General SurgeryThis department was started in 1956. All types of surgical cases
including thoracic, neuro, plastic and cardiovascular and maxillofacialcases were treated in the department. During 2019-20 the numberof patients treated in the outdoor and indoor sections were 17460and 2252 respectively.
All types of operations like Cholecystectomy with or withoutcholedocholithotomy, Liver surgeries like — (i) hydatid cyst of liver,(ii) simple cyst of liver, (iii) liver resection, Pancreatic surgery like —(i) LPJ, (ii) Frey’s, (iii) Whipple’s, Hemicolectomy, APR, AR,Appendicectomy, Repair of Hernias – Inguinal & Incisional, ThyroidSurgeries — (i) Total, (ii) Near total & hemithyroidectomy, BreastSurgery — (i) MRM, Lumpectomy, Stomach Surgeries — (i) TotalGastrectomy, (ii) Distal Gastrectomy, (iii) Hepatico-jejunostomy, iv)Gastro-jejunostomy, Heller’s operation, Lumbar Sympathectomy,Spleenectomy, Spleenocaval shunt with interposition of Dacrosguof,
Cleft lip/palate, Osteotomy to correct jaw deformity, Condyletomy,removal of large cysts were conducted. In 2019-20, 783 major &1469 minor operations were done. The outdoor section was open onall weekdays.
8.1 Paediatric Surgery Unit
This Unit was started in 1965. During the year under report, 2483cases were treated in the outdoor and 279 in indoor section, 256operations (Anal Pull Through, Anoplasty, Repair of DiaphragmaticHernia, Repair of Cleft Lip and Palate, Repair of Myelomeningocele,Rouxeny, Hetatico-jenunostomy, Lap Cholecystectomy, Herniotomy,Circumcision, Decortication of Lung, Urethroplasty, Orchidopexy,Nephrectomy, Excision of Cystic Hygroma, V.U.R.,Ureteroneocystostomy, Ventriculo-peritonial Shunt etc.) were done.The outdoor section was open on all weekdays.
9. Department of Urology
Earlier, the Urology Unit was a part of the Department of Surgery.From 01-01-2016, it was made a separate department. During theyear under review, 6796 cases were treated in the outdoor sectionand 793 in the indoor section. 407 major and 521 minor operationswere carried out during the period. Difficult procedures like TotalCystectomy, Trans-Urethral Resection, Neo-Ureterocystectomy etc.were done successfully. Keeping with the advancements of Endo-Urology, procedures like PCNL, Ureteroscopy are being performedon a regular basis. With the induction of the 100 Watt Holmium Laserinto the department, it is being able to perform the operation of LaserProstatectomy (HoLEP). This institute also caters for theperformance of Urodynamic study to evaluate the functional statusof the Lower Urinary Tract. Clinical meetings to discuss problematiccases are being held on a regular basis.
This institute runs a successful DNB programme in Genito UrinarySurgery (Urology). Every year one student is admitted to this courseafter clearing the CAT of the DNB Board. Till date, four studentshave successfully passed the DNB Final Examination in Urology.

10. Department of General MedicineThe department was started in 1956. All types of medical cases
were treated here. The department had the following special clinicswhich are being looked after by eminent doctors.

(e) Haematology Clinic

During the year 2019-20, 33241 cases were treated in the outdoorand 4035 cases in the indoor section. The outdoor section was openon all week days.
11. Department of NeurologyEarlier the Neurology Clinic was a unit of the Department of

since its inception has been rendering antenatal care to thousands ofexpectant mothers through its indoor and outdoor sections. Patientswere requested to register early in pregnancy to facilitate better careand to attend the indoor section for treatment and necessary care.During the year 2019-20, 35481 outdoor cases and 5347 indoor caseswere treated. The outdoor section was open on all weekdays.

13. Department of GynaecologyThe department was started in 1939. All types of Gynaecological

During the year 2019-20, 19812cases were treated in the outdoor and 4628 cases in the indoor section.816 operations (Diagnostic laparohysteroscopy, Laparoscopy andproceed, Laparoscopy assisted vaginal hysterectomy, Dilatation andcurretage, Cervical biopsy, Polypectomy, Laparotomy with salpingoophorectomy, Debulking surgery in Ovarian CA, Bartholin cystoperation – marsupialisation, Vaginal reconstructive surgery likecreation of neovagina, vaginoplasty, Sacrospinous fixation, Slingoperation (Nulliporous prolapse), Fothergil’s operation, Lefort’soperation, Radical Vulvectomy). In addition there was also provisionfor emergency gynaecological services (24x7 days) which includedrequisite treatment and operation, if required. The outdoor sectionwas open on all weekdays.14. The department was started in 1963. During the year 2019-20,13075 cases were treated in the outdoor and 498 in indoor section.332 operations including those for retinal detachments, plasticreconstruction of the lids, orbital reconstructions etc. were done. Theout-patients’ department including the Glaucoma Clinic and FFA(Fundus Fluroscein Angiography) & Automated Perimetry (HumphreyVisual Field Analysis) were open on all working days.

15. Department of OrthopaedicsStarted in 1963, this department was gradually developed into a
self-sufficient unit to manage all kinds of emergency trauma andcold orthopaedic cases.
During the year 2019-20, the outdoor section served 25466 casesand the indoor 1051 cases. Total number of operations performedduring the year were 816. Highly specialised following types ofsurgery are routinely done here.

The outdoor section was open on all weekdays.
The Department has introduced the ETLS (EmergencyTrauma Care Life Support) Course in this Pratishthan for doctors,nursing staff and paramedics, with sessions to be held from time totime at suitable intervals.
The Physiotherapy Clinic attached to the department was openon all weekdays. The Rheumatology Clinic functioned on Mondays,Wednesdays & Fridays. During the year under report 1304 patientswere treated in outdoor section.
16. Department of PaediatricsCare of new-borns under the supervision of paediatricians has
been the standing practice of this institution since its inception.
A. Neonatal Management : Arrangements were made for propercare from the time of birth of all new-born babies under direct guidanceof the paediatric unit. These were briefly as follows :

(i) All new-borns were thoroughly examined immediately afterbirth and daily record was kept for each of them.
(ii) All premature babies were kept in a separate unit of the nurserycalled the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with arrangements forseparate nursing and medical attention. The nursery which is air-conditioned, has arrangements for segregation and treatment of babiessuffering from contagious diseases. All high risk babies and thosedelivered instrumentally or found weak due to other causes werealso kept in the nursery. During the year under review 758 babieswere treated in the N.I.C.U.
B. Postnatal care and follow up of Infants and Toddlers :The aim was to follow up the Infants for at least a couple of years
and their illnesses were attended to in this clinic which was held onall weekdays.
A Well Baby Clinic was held on Wednesdays where the growthand development of the babies was assessed and mothers wereinstructed about mothercraft, e.g. feeding and management of theirbabies and advice was given regarding immunization with PrimaryVaccination. Triple Antigen and Oral Polio Vaccine were given atspecial clinics held on Wednesdays and Fridays. 1478 Triple Antigen(Booster dose), 1165 Oral Polio Vaccines (3rd Dose), 1849 Measlesand 3060 B.C.G. Vaccines were administered in the year underreview.
Since 1965, sick children under the age of seven years were beingtreated in the department. From 1974 those under 12 years are alsotreated. During the year 2019-20, the number of cases treated were33173 in the outdoor and 2399 in the indoor section. The outdoorsection was open on all weekdays.
17. Postpartum UnitThe Family Welfare Centre started in 1964, was absorbed in the
Postpartum Unit which started in 1980, manned by doctors, publichealth nurse, F.W.E. Asstt., clerks and attendants. Besides conductingoutdoor clinics, it did intensive work in the wards No. 84 and 85 of

Kolkata Municipal Corporation, allotted to the unit by the DistrictFamily Welfare Bureau. Ten beds have been set apart for femalesterilisation cases in the indoor section. Under the MCH activitiesthe immunization component runs by strictly adhering to the guidelineof UIP (approved by WHO).

During theyear 2019-20, Clinically TB Detected in 98 patients, 40 patients werefound to be positive in our Clinic.
19. Department of RadiodiagnosisThe department had 3 big X-ray plants, 5 mobile plants, besides 4
Image Internsifiers, 4 USG equipments, 1 CT Scan equipment, 1MRI equipment, 1 BMD (Dexa Scan equipment) & 1 Mammographyequipment. During the year 2019-20, X-ray examinations of 38350cases were done. 5953 CT Scan, 4865 MRI and 27005 USG caseswere also done. A special investigation report is also given in page 37.
20. Blood BankThe Blood Bank was started in 1966 to meet the needs of patients
in this hospital. Normally patients were required to provide donors.The Bank was open round-the-clock on all days and was able tomeet the emergency needs of the hospital. Depending on availabilityof stock, blood was supplied for patients of other hospitals also fromtime to time. A fully equipped Blood Component Separation Unit hasbeen added to it in February, 2014.

THE SCHOOL OF NURSING
The need for training a sufficient number of nurses can hardly beoveremphasised. One of the chief objects of the Seva Pratishthanhas been to provide facilities for training in nursing and midwifery ina suitable atmosphere.
This institution had been training midwives since its inception in1932 and it was recognised as a training centre for Junior and SeniorMidwives in 1944. When the institution was expanded into a GeneralHospital in 1956, the school was recognised for the training of AuxiliaryNurse-Midwives, later known as Multipurpose Health Workers, andin the following year for General Nurse-Midwives as well. The schoolhas the capacity for training about 150 students. The StateGovernment has been helping the School regularly and is bearing asubstantial portion of the cost of training of about 100 General Nurse-Midwives.
General Nursing-Midwifery Course : Candidates seekingadmission to this course must have passed the Higher SecondaryExamination or its equivalent and must not be under 18 years orabove 27 years of age. The session normally starts in September andthe course lasts for three years. Pupils are selected for the courseafter a written test, an interview and a medical check up. The rollstrength of students as on 31st March 2020 was 111. After a courseof instruction for three months, an examination is held and successfulcandidates take part in an impressive ceremony called CappingCeremony at which they are given the Nursing Cap, a symbol ofNursing Service. At this ceremony they take vows, composed inlucid Sanskrit, of life-long dedicated service to the sick and suffering.During the year under report, the Capping Ceremony was held on12-03-2020.
The school has a well-equipped demonstration room, a librarywith 7660 books and 6 Nos. of periodicals, an auditorium and ashrine and prayer hall. Pupils receive training in an atmosphereconducive to their all round development - physical, intellectual, moraland spiritual.
A regular programme of in-service training for qualified nurses isconducted by the institution to improve and maintain a high standardto prepare them for higher courses. The nursing tutors and othermembers of the nursing staff are also encouraged to acquire higherprofessional qualifications.
The Annual Swami Vivekananda Birth Centenary MemorialCompetition in music, painting, recitation and elocution for studentnurses of West Bengal for the year was held in June 2019. StudentNurses from different Schools and Colleges of Nursing in and aroundKolkata participated in the said competitions. The Prize DistributionCeremony for the year was held on 27-06-2019 i.e. on the last dayof the competition.
Among the other cultural and religious functions held during theyear under review were, Saraswati Puja, Christmas Eve,Independence Day and Republic Day. These were celebrated withgreat aplomb, with impressive parades and folk dances, tableaus andpatriotic songs as befitting the different occasions.
A fund called Scholarship Fund has been created out of donationsreceived from various sources for awarding scholarships and prizesto student nurses of the institution from the interest earned. Thescholarships and prizes awarded to student nurses are named after‘Gopaler Ma’, ‘Golap Ma’, ‘Sister Nivedita’, ‘Sister Christine’,‘Gargi’, ‘Maitreyi’, ‘Swami Madhavananda’, Swami Dayananda,Swami Gahanananda, ‘Kadambini Sarkar’, ‘Sibadasi Devi’,‘Rajubala Ghosh’, ‘Sister Kalyani’, as also ‘K. VIVEKANANDA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
The Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan Vivekananda Instituteof Medical Sciences was recognised by the University of Calcuttafor post-graduate training and research in medicine in 1963, the yearof Swami Vivekananda’s Birth Centenary. In 1977 the Indian Councilof Medical Research first recognised it for research work on aproject.
The Medical Council of India which recognised the SevaPratishthan in 1966 for compulsory rotatory training of fresh medicalgraduates, first approved it in 1979 for post-graduate degree coursesalso. The Institute has been recognised by the University GrantsCommission since 1987.
The Institute has now been conducting diploma courses in ChildHealth (DCH), Gynaecology and Obstetrics (DGO), Ophthalmology(DO), Oto-Rhino-Laryngology (DLO), Orthopaedics (D.Ortho) andAnaesthesiology (DA) of West Bengal University of Health Sciences.DNB course of the National Board of Examinations is also beingconducted in as many as 11 disciplines.
The academic affairs of the Vivekananda Institute of MedicalSciences are guided by a Governing Body. During the year 2019-20

a good number of doctors were doing their dissertation for postgraduate degree of MD in Obs. & Gynaecology, MS in GeneralSurgery, MD in Paediatrics, MD in General Medicine, MD inRadiodiagnosis and Anaesthesiology etc. The total number of Degree,Diploma & DNB students on the rolls as on 31st March, 2020 were60, 10 & 30 respectively.
Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technique (DMLT) and Diplomain Radio Diagnosis Technique (DRD-Tech) courses of the StateMedical Faculty of West Bengal are also being conducted here. Theroll strength as on 31st March 2020 was 30 in DMLT and 15 inDRD-Tech.
The Bachelor of Critical Care Technology (BCCT) and Bachelorof Operation Theatre Technology (BOTT) courses started functioingfrom September 2009. The rolls strength on 31st March 2020 were57 & 46 respectively.
A Scholarship Fund named “Swami Gahanananda Scholarship”has been created from April 2012 out of donations received fromvarious sources for awarding scholarships to students of the DRD-Tech, BCCT, BOTT courses of the institution.
The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) course was started from2006. The roll strength as on 31st March 2020 was 31.
Diploma in Neuro Electro Physiology (DNEP) course startedfunctioning from September 2017. The roll strength as on 31st March2020 was 6.
The Institute has a Medical Library with 9872 books andsubscribes to a large number of medical journals. Qualified andexperienced doctors are carrying on research work at the Pratishthanin different subjects. The results of their investigations are publishedin medical journals in India and abroad. Since 1978, the Institutepublishes its own journal. The number of bound volumes of medicaljournals in the library is 3734 and No. of Thesis 624.

COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICEIn view of the Community Health Nursing being included in the
Nurses’ Training Course in 1963, two areas, one urban and the otherrural, were selected for training of nursing students. The urban areawas very near the hospital while a group of villages near Sarisha,South 24 Parganas, formed the rural area.
Groups of student nurses under the guidance of qualified staffvisited all the houses in two selected areas, collected necessary dataand advised people on their health and hygiene problems. The peopleof these areas got free immunisation, hospital facilities and domiciliarytreatment while the mothers were given antenatal and postnatal care.
The mobile medical unit attached to Community Health Servicevisits Sarisha (40 km.) covering 23 villages with a population of about20,000, Arapanch (20 km.) covering 10 villages with a population ofabout 15,000 and Rajarhat (30 km.) with a population of about10,000, twice a week and provides free treatment to about 200patients daily. The critically ill patients are brought to the main hospitalfor treatment as and when necessary. Free eye camp is held forpatients from areas served by the mobile unit every year. A mothercraftclass is also held at Sarisha once a week. Regular antenatal check-up is carried on in which high-risk mothers are identified and referredto the Pratishthan. Immunisation programme is implemented againstMeasles, Diphtheria, Whooping Cough and Tetanus for children inthese rural areas.
In the year 2019-20, the mobile unit served 23916 patientscompletely free of charges. The statistical reports of the SarishaRural Health Unit for the year 2019-20 were as follows :-

Gangasagar Mela
Like previous years this year also this Pratishthan conductedMedical Relief Camp at Gangasagar Mela in January, 2020. Itwas manned by 36 members consisting of 6 doctors, 2 male nurses,7 pharmacists, 3 GDAs and 14volunteers.
The camp treated 8374 patients, out of which 5192 were male,3007 female and 175 children. Amongst these patients 27 receivedindoor treatment.

OpinionWe have audited the financial statements of Ramakrishna Mission
Seva Pratishthan which comprise the Balance Sheet as at 31st March,2020 and the Income & Expenditure Statement for the year then ended,and notes to the financial statements, including a summary of significantaccounting policies.
In our opinion and to the best of our information and according tothe explanations given to us, the accompanying financial statementsgive a true and fair view of the financial position of the entity as at 31stMarch, 2020, and of its financial performance for the year then endedin accordance with the accounting principles generally accepted in India.Basis for Opinion
We conducted our audit in accordance with the Standards onAuditing (SAs) issued by ICAI. Our responsibilities under those standardsare further described in the Auditor’s Responsibilities for the Audit ofthe Financial Statements section of our report. We are independent ofthe entity in accordance with the ethical requirements that are relevantto our audit of the financial statements in India, and we have fulfilledour other ethical responsibilities in accordance with these requirements.We believe that the audit evidence we have obtained is sufficient andappropriate to provide a basis for our opinion.Responsibilities of Management and Those Charged withGovernance for the Financial Statements

of the financial statements in accordance with the aforesaid generallyaccepted accounting principles in India, and for such internal controlas management determines is necessary to enable the preparation offinancial statements that are free from material misstatement, whetherdue to fraud or error. In preparing the financial statements, managementis responsible for assessing the entity’s ability to continue as a goingconcern, disclosing, as applicable, matters related to going concernand using the going concern basis of accounting unless managementeither intends to liquidate the entity or to cease operations, or has norealistic alternative but to do so. Those charged with governance areresponsible for overseeing the entity’s financial reporting process.Auditor’s Responsibilities for the Audit of the FinancialStatements
Our objectives are to obtain reasonable assurance about whetherthe financial statements as a whole are free from material misstatement,whether due to fraud or error, and to issue an auditor’s report thatincludes our opinion. Reasonable assurance is a high level of assurance,but is not a guarantee that an audit conducted in accordance withgenerally accepted accounting principles in India will always detect amaterial misstatement when it exists.
Misstatements can arise from fraud or error and are consideredmaterial if, individually or in the aggregate, they could reasonably beexpected to influence the economic decisions of users taken on thebasis of these financial statements.

b) the financial statements dealt with by this Report include thetransactions related to foreign contribution received and utilised underthe Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010.
