The Relational God

- Unlike any other belief in God. The God that Jesus revealed is personal and forcreation.

God did not create to be served. God created out of an abundance of love and apurpose to share all things with his creation. Love does notseek its own (1 Cor. 13:5)

The Father that Jesus reveals is a Father that wants to give (not take)- Matt 6:25-34,

Luke 11:9-13, Rom 8:32. The carnal mindset always thinks of God as one who takes

from creation rather than gives. The gospel reveals that it is God who gives without

expecting anything in return (1 John 4:9-10).

Sin Consciousness vs. Grace consciousness

Many gauge the quality of their relationship with God based on the amount of sin theyve

committed. Jesus clearly shows that this sort of mindset is detrimental and at the core

Pharisaical (Luke 7:36-50, Luke 18:10-14)

Question: Do we measure spirituality by the amount of sin or by the depth of our intimacy

with God (Father, Son, and Spirit)?

A purpose of a relationship is never to increase in levels. The purpose of a relationship is

always depth and intimacy.

Christianity is not about behavior modification. God is not interested in behaviormodification. God is interested in relationship that naturally causes a character change.

The order is not

1. I change2. God loves me

The order is

1. Understanding how much God loves me2. I change

Sin consciousness will never help in your relationship with God. So many people dwell on

their sins, when God says Ive forgiven and forgotten (Psalm 103:11-12, 1 Cor. 13:5,

Hebrews 10:12-17).

It is not neglecting sin. It is realizing how much greater grace is than your sins. (Rom 5:20-

21)

All things consist in Christ

Separation mindset: For so long humanity has believed that God is outside of creation and

occasionally reaching in to move.

The reality is that creation consists within God (Col 1:16-17, Acts 17:24-31)

Common Misconceptions

Question: How many times have you heard the phrase, I want to get closer to God or I

want more of you God?

- This phrase has great intentions, but lacks understanding. Ultimately this sort of mindset

will keep you from realizing the Truth.

Gods home/dwelling place is not far. It is within. (Luke 17: 20-21, John 14:23, 1

Corinthians 3:16-17, 1 Corinthians 6-17-20)

Question: How close are you with God?

(1 Corinthians 6:17, Romans 6:1-11, Eph 2:4-6, Col 2:12-15, Col 3:1-3, Gal 2:20)

Question: Can you have more of God?

(John 4: 13-14, John 6: 35, Rom 8:31-32, 1 Cor. 6:17, Eph 1:3, 22-23, Eph 2:14-22)

Question: What is revival?

Begging God for revival is to live in an old-covenant mindset. (2 Chronicles 7:14). Asking

God for revival is to say that what Jesus did was not enough (John 19:30

The word revival is close to the word revive/awake. The only time the New Testament

mentions this word is in 1 Cor. 15:34- awake to righteousness

The true understanding of revival was fulfilled in the gospel.

(Rom 6:1-11, Eph 2:4-6, Col 3:1-3, 1 Peter 1:3, 2 Peter 1:3)

The purpose of Christianity is not to wait for God to do something. The purpose of

Christianity is manifesting heaven on earth knowing that God has already given everything

you need. (Matt 6:8-10, Matt 10:7-8, Luke 10:8-9)
