A REGIONAL VOTING PANEL OF EXPERTS

Asia’s 50 Best Bars Academy

Voting for Asia’s 50 Best Bars is based on the same model as The World’s 50 Best Bars, but all voters are based in Asia.

The list is compiled by the votes of the Asia’s 50 Best Bars Academy, composed of up to 220 drinks experts, including renowned bartenders, drinks writers and cocktail aficionados. From 2017, the names of the voters on the panel have remained confidential.

The Academy of voters in Asia is spread across the continent, with their distribution designed to reflect the relative development and sophistication of the drinks sector – and the concentration of quality bars – in each country or region.

Each voter casts 5 votes, based on their best bar experiences of the previous 18 months, of which at least 1 must be for a bar located outside the voter’s country of residence. The number of votes in 2021 and international voting requirement has been reduced to reflect fewer travel opportunities throughout much of 2020.

(excluding the Highest New Entry)

MICHTER’S ART OF HOSPITALITY AWARD

An award voted on by the Academy, who are asked

to name the bar where they have received the best

hospitality experience in the past 18 months

AWARDS & SPECIAL AWARDS

While the list is certainly the main focus of the awards ceremony,

the voters are also asked to vote for individual bars and bartenders to receive special awards. These

special prizes reflect the diversity of talent rewarded by Asia’s 50 Best Bars and act as a barometer closely

tracking developments in the bar industry.
