Simply reading the cover of this book written by a husband

and wife team of clinical psychiatry professors, intrigues the reader to discover whether the impressive and extensive list of "scientifically proven"

health benefits under the title might apply to themselves.

You may find yourself asking: “Will Rhodiola

enhance my energy?  Reduce my stress levels?

Help my memory and mental clarity?  Will it

improve my mental and physical endurance? Ease my anxiety? Can it protect me from cancer and heart disease? ... and even help with my sex life, weight loss and anti-aging?!!”

All of that sounds too good to be true, but you’ll understand how these benefits are possible when you read about the basic

principles upon which Rhodiola rosea works.

In your anticipation to speed to the answers, don't miss

reading the Foreword!  In four short pages Mark Blumenthal

(founder and executive director of the American Botanical Council and editor of the HerbalGram, ABC's peer-reviewed herbal medicine journal) gives the reader

confidence in the authors' research as well as the validity

of the medicinal/wellness properties of Rhodiola rosea, the herb being highlighted.

“You heal yourself when you learn to activate your innate healing abilities. This adaptogen herb brings you to a state of being available to

activate your healing.”

Mark Blumenthal states that he believes Rhodiola rosea may be the next "herbal superstar"

and he gives four reasons to support that belief, the most important being the safety of

Rhodiola rosea.  He goes on to point out Rhodiola rosea's documented health benefits, the

scientific support for its modern as well as traditional applications and its agricultural

sustainability.

Brown and Gerbarg have had extensive experience of the profound health effects of Rhodiola rosea for themselves, their family, friends, patients and colleagues. Through a combination of engaging real-life stories and

reader-friendly analysis of research, the authors clarify the physiology of the body’s stress

responses and explain how Rhodiola rosea’s adaptogenic properties are a natural match for

stressors of all kinds. They support their professional and personal experience with summaries of studies and an impressive

compilation of research that deftly explains how this one herb can have such a wide array of health

benefits.

Their research proposes that stress is at the root of the majority of disease conditions and that many

of the benefits of Rhodiola rosea are due to it being an adaptogen. An adaptogen is a safe,

natural botanical that balances multiple body systems and supports the body in its response to

stressors without causing negative effects or dependence. By this action it may slow disease

progression, relieve suffering and greatly improve quality of life.

The amazing thing is that Rhodiola rosea enhances energy at the cellular level and

stimulates the brain’s potential ... at the same time creating a sense of calm and well-being!

The authors organized their information in chapters that

cover major areas of application and results for

Rhodiola rosea use:---

• Rejuvenate Your Mind

• Maximize Physical Performance

• Extreme Stress: The Final Frontier

• Safeguard Your Heart

• Lift a Blue or Anxious Mood

• Fight Back Against Fatigue

• Enhance Your Sexual Vitality

• Restore Hormonal Balance

• Jump Start Your Disease Defenses

• Drop Excess Pounds

So why is this safe and efficacious natural herbal adaptogen not in wide use

around the world? Why have you not heard much about it

in North America? The authors make it clear that because there has

been so little Rhodiola rosea available for the natural health market it hasn’t become widely

available AND with recent over-harvesting Rhodiola rosea has become an endangered plant.

Brown and Gerbarg note that historically the limited source has always been prized and reserved for an exclusive market of peak

performers such as Russian Olympic athletes, cosmonauts and an elite society that holds it in high esteem for its anti-aging properties and its ability to reduce fatigue, increase mental and physical endurance and improve resistance to

disease. Very little quality herb is left to export to North America.

Do you need more energy, a better memory, more endurance and stamina? Do you have a stressful lifestyle? Is your stress response interfering with

your productivity at work or your ability to have a satisfying relationship? Do you want a longer,

higher quality of life?

Rhodiola rosea balances the stress response systems and the authors’ research repeatedly

points to stress as being at the root of over 80% of dis-ease. Thus they conclude that when you

address the cause of your dis-ease you bring your systems into balance and you experience your

optimal well-being.

You heal yourself when you learn to activate your innate

healing abilities. This adaptogen herb brings you to a state of being available to

activate your healing.Brown and Gerbarg demonstrate that the systematic and scientific studies that began

in Russia in the 1950’s and that are expanding around the globe clearly identify Rhodiola rosea’s prominent benefits. It’s

been used safely with no toxicity for centuries in a wide array of imbalances and even healthy individuals experience

improved endurance and stamina on both physical and mental levels.

Brown and Gerbarg supply “How to take Rhodiola rosea...” details at the end of chapters for specific applications. Their suggestions are summarized below ( for a product containing 3%

rosavins and 0.8-1.0% salidrosides ), but you are encouraged to reference their book with your health care professional to determine your own plan of action...

Suggested Use:Each individual is unique and their response to Rhodiola rosea may vary depending on their activity level and lifestyle. Benefits may be noticed within days or it may take up to 3 months, so be patient. Most people have the best results with an intake of 200mg per day of Rhodiola rosea; however, a few people will need a smaller dosage and others will need 300-600mg per day to experience the best results.

Directions for Use:To begin your RR regime, take 1 capsule (100mg) 20-30 minutes before breakfast (on an empty stomach)Observe how it affects you. If after 3-7 days at this level you notice nothing, add another capsule (100mg) 20-30 minutes before lunch so you are now taking 100mg twice a day.

Observe the effects again. If after 3-7 days at this level you feel you need more and you have no sense of overstimulation (sleep disturbance, overly vivid dreams, agitation or irritability), then add another capsule before breakfast so you are now taking 200mg before breakfast and 100mg before lunch - a total of 300mg per day. Continue for 2-3 weeks at this level to see the effect. If you feel you need more, add another capsule before lunch so you are now taking 200mg before breakfast and 200mg before lunch - a total of 400mg per day. If you see no change in your symptoms and you are still comfortable that you have no side effects of overstimulation, you can add another capsule (100mg) before breakfast. When increasing above 400mg per day, wait at least 4 weeks before adding an additional capsule (100mg). You can stay at your chosen dosage as long as you don’t feel overstimulated. If you feel overstimulated at any level, simply go back to the previous lower dosage where you felt the best. Reducing caffeine intake will also reduce excess stimulation.

For the rare cases where 100mg of Rhoziva is too high, open the capsule and split the contents in half. Mix with water or juice if needed. There are no known contraindications with medications and Rhodiola rosea may alleviate symptoms of fatigue, stress, anxiety or depression that occur as side effects of severe health complications.
