ST. JEROME JOTS SJLG has created a space for a "Kid's Book Nook" at the Kerrville Urgent Care Center. There is a sign there that reads, "Hi, Kids! Hope you enjoy this book nook provided by St. Peter's Episcopal Church St. Jerome Library Guild." Ann Wickham donated two small chairs and a table and SJLG purchased a small rug and child sized shelves to create a reading area for children to enjoy while waiting to see the doctor or waiting with a parent for their visit. There are about thirty-five books available that SJLG members update and maintain on a weekly basis, keeping everything clean, disinfected, and tidy.
Our plan is to have additional book nooks at additional future locations.
In case you have time to do some reading during the Christmas season, we recommend Watch for the Light: Readings for Advent and Christmas by Dietrich Bonhoeffer; Bread and Wine: Readings for Lent and Easter by C.S. Lewis and G.K. Chesterton; and for children, A Story of Three Trees by Steven E. Robinson and illustrated by Cave Hen-derson.
Please be advised much appreciated generous readers: SJLG will not be accepting any more donated books until further notice. We have had SO many wonderful books donated that we have no more space to house ad-ditional books until after we have our next book sale sometime next year.
SJLG will not meet in December, and we will change our meeting date to the first Wednesday of the month in 2017 in order to accommodate more of the members' schedules. Therefore, our next meeting will be Wednes-day, January 3, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. in the Library for a business meeting. The first book review of 2017 will be in February.
Thanks be to God for all our many blessings in 2016.
We wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a
Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas, and a
Happy New Year!!!
A WORD FROM FATHER TOM…
Listen and Look with the Ear and Eye of the Holy Spirit
As we grow older, our ideas and thoughts change, maybe not radically but they change. Hopefully they mature. Experiences affirm, disaf-firm and shape those ideas and thoughts. Christmas to a 5 year old and then later to that same 55 year old can be fundamentally differ-ent. Santa may go from a person to a spirit. God can become more intimate and personal or distant and ethereal.
The Holidays will bring many experiences to shape not only our own individual thoughts and ideas of God but our loved ones as well. We can Hustle and Bustle God right out of the picture. God is in every circumstance of our life. Sometimes he is very hard to find but he is always there. You may think that it is easy to see and hear God at Christmas but think again. In the midst of the busyness of the Holidays God can be totally missed. Stop! Look! And Listen!
Come Holy Spirit Come. Come now and be upon us here.
Father, take our eyes and see through them, Our ears, hear through them, Our lips, speak through them,
Our minds, think through them, And Father, take our hearts and set them on fire for you,
For you are our strength and loving redeemer. AMEN BLESS !!!
Fr. Tom III
Julie, Katie, and I wish all of you a Christmas Season full of the richness of God’s Presence, Love, Joy, and Peace.

are not scheduled for either the 2nd or 4th
Wednesday of the month then there will be
no Youth Group scheduled as well.
St. Peter’s Youth Group is for youth in 6th through 12th grade. The youth meet the sec-ond and fourth Wednesday of every month during the school year at 5:45 pm in Tucker Hall. The group meets with Linda Jordan, Di-rector of Parish Life, and Rebekah Talarico, a former member of the youth group who now volunteers as a co-leader for Youth Group. The middle and high school youth meet at 5:45 pm for fellowship with dinner and a bible lesson. The group is able to catch up with each other’s lives, discuss future outreach projects and possible weekend trips to in-clude mission work. Youth Group provides a safe place for each student to be open, hon-est, heard and accepted for who they are and know to their core that Jesus loves them, no matter what. If you have any questions, please contact Linda Jordan at 257-8162.

This year we are doing the Giving Tree a little bit different-ly. From its inception we have ministered primarily to our homebound here at St. Peter’s. We will continue to do that but in addition we will be including our School. We will be providing candy, sugar free candy and poinsettias for each homebound, one can donate to the Rector’s or Assoc. Rector’s discretionary fund but we are also adopt-ing each classroom and providing non provided teacher and classroom supplies, such as, paint pens, stickers, stamps, children’s CDs etc. Each teacher has provided a wish list and we have put the item to a card on the tree. Pease do not wrap the item. We will be collecting the items until Sunday December 11 and distribute the Gift Bags to the teachers at Christmas Fiesta on Wednesday December 14.
MUSIC MINISTRIES
Good People of St. Peter's,
It is truly a joy to be with you in worship each Sunday. I want to take a minute to share my
thoughts about this year's stewardship drive. Having been in the church my entire life, I
have never witnessed such a meaningful invitation to participate in Stewardship Sunday to
the children of the parish. It strongly resonates with me as a parent of a small child. It is
our Christian responsibility to share of our time, talent, and treasure that God has entrust-
ed us with in this life. Truly a value that we wish to instill in our son. THANK YOU St. Peter's
for supporting our family in this effort.
Now, I switch to offering you the opportunity to share of your time and talent by joining
the Music Ministries. Perhaps you'd like to join the Chancel Choir for the Christmas Season,
or occasionally play guitar at the 9:30 service, or your child takes piano lessons & would
be willing to play their recital piece for the church, or perhaps you're the happy congre-
gant who hears and appreciates music in worship. Your pledge can be great or small, but
consider doing just one thing in the coming year to support St. Peter's Music Ministry. You
may surprise yourself!
SAVE THE DATE! Our annual Lessons & Carols will be Sunday, December 11th at 7:00 pm. We
can always use extra singers! Please contact me for more information.
Peace,
Kara Joy Baker
Chancel Choir Director

A Note from the Senior Warden I must begin by thanking all who had anything to do with the Stone Soup Stewardship campaign and the Stewardship
Sunday Potpourri of food! Lee Underwood did an outstanding job of “thinking outside of the box” with his idea of
Stone Soup. Hiram Wilson printed lovely posters to publicize the campaign. Chrisie Jennings ordered the children ’s
books, Lee found an artist to contribute the beautiful painted stones for the children, and Brandy Weatherford orga-
nized a marvelous and very tasty food fair. I can’t begin to name everyone, but please know that I am thankful for all
of you, and appreciate all you do for St. Peter’s. I was pleased with the number of pledge cards received that day, but
we need more to reach our goal. Check out our website and/or the Parish Profile to get an idea of how we spend your
money other than paying salaries and running the church. The sooner you turn in your pledge cards, the easier it is
for us to develop a realistic budget. “And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that
by always having enough of everything you may share abundantly in every good work.” 2Corinthians 9:8
A big thank you to Seth Weatherford, Mark Voss and the singers of the Praise and Worship team! This group stepped
up heroically when it looked as though we would have no music at the 9:30 service one Sunday. They continue to
share their wonderful talents each Sunday. The contribution of these musicians is immeasurable. “Hallelujah! Sing
to the Lord a new song; sing his praise in the congregation of the faithful.” Psalm 149:1
I am still looking for volunteers to drive the golf carts for both the 9:30 and 11:15 services. Thanks to those of you who
volunteer from time to time. A special thanks to Mike Grissom for driving most Sundays. If there is one special person
out there who would like to lead the recruitment and scheduling of drivers, I would love to hear from you. This is a
great opportunity for you to give your time and talent as part of your stewardship at St. Peter’s.
When you read this, the first Sunday of Advent will have already passed. Time flies! I love Christmas, but I love Ad-
vent even more. As we prepare for the birth of Jesus Christ, an excitement builds, much like a child’s excitement
builds in anticipation of a visit from Santa. As adults, the thrill of opening gifts on Christmas morning fades and is re-
placed by the joy of the blessed birth. Most of the things I like about Christmas happen during Advent. I enjoy the dec-
orating, the shopping, the cooking, the carols…all things that mostly go away on Christmas Day. Hopefully, with all
the activities of the season, we can set aside some time each day for prayer and study as we await and then celebrate
the birth of Jesus!
Until next time I’ll leave you with this: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert
a highway for our God.” Isaiah 40:3
