All Souls Day Multiple Intentions

Each year many of us like to remember our loved

ones with a Mass in their memory on All Souls Day.

We include as many as possible in our multiple/

collective Mass intentions on that day. It is time

now to turn in your loved ones’ names and the Mass

stipends if you want to have them remembered on

this special day. All intentions will need to be in to

your respective parish office by Tuesday, October

24.

Our clustered parishes’ next commu-

nal celebration will be at the weekend

masses on November 18 & 19, 2017.

Parents as well as Godparents are to

attend the Preparation Sessions on

Tuesday, November 7, 6:30 pm and

Wednesday, November 15, 6:30 pm, at

St. Augustine Parish Center. If you

are planning to have your child Bap-

tized on November 18/19, please call

Andrea Willett, at 270-692-3019, to

register.

group and $250.00. The night will also include a Silent Auction and games for adults and children. Please come and enjoy our annual celebration of our parish!!!

Donations Needed for Social We ask each parish family to bring one gallon of green beans and one Quart mason jar filled with fun for the "Jars of Fun" booth. These items can be dropped off at the Parish Center or the School Of-fice. We need these items no later than Wednesday, November 8.

We ask each family to bring a homemade cake (Jam & Italian Cream are needed and appreciated); a batch of homemade candy; and three sliced pies (NO Cream Pies as Marion County Health depart-ment will not allow Cream pies to be served); to the school cafeteria by 12:00 noon on the morning of the social. Any donations for the silent auction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Cemetery Donations At the time of a death our hearts are full of sor-

row for our departed loved one. Sometimes

people ask that in lieu of flowers a donation be

made. Some ideas for donations might be: Ho-

ly Name of Mary Cemetery Fund; St. Augus-

tine School; St. Augustine Cemetery Fund; or

to your parish in general. These are most wor-

thy causes that would assist these ministries and

would be greatly beneficial to the parishes.

Parenting Pointers: With Halloween approaching, we are immersed in "fake scariness." But sometimes children have real fears. Talking about ways that you overcame your own childhood fears can give your child hope. Mov-ies/TV can often exaggerate danger and trigger fears.

All households in our parish fam-

ily are invited to support the min-

istries of our Archdiocese. These

are pastoral, educational, and

charitable ministries that reach

thousands of individuals and fam-

ilies as well as every parish and school in our Archdiocese.

If you have not yet responded with a gift, please do so to-

day. Gifts to the 2017 Catholic Services Appeal can be

made online at www.ArchLou.org/CSA.

Marriage Moments:

Ways to Turn Your Spouse Off #3 - Let Noise Surround You. Some noises are happy and express life. But sometime noise is just a distraction or an irritation. Is there enough quiet space in your relationship to simply be present to each other's graceful being?

Rite of Acceptance

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults and Chil-

dren (RCIA) is a process re-instituted by Vatican II

to bring those adults and children into the Catholic

Church who after freely and consciously seeking

God, desire to enter the way of faith and conversion

as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts.

St. Augustine and Holy Name of Mary Parishes have

eight people seeking to join our community. They

have already begun this process by inquiring into our

Catholic faith and on Sunday, October 29, they take

the first step towards full communion with us by

making a public commitment to continue their faith

journey at the Rite of Acceptance. The parishioners

of St. Augustine and Holy Name of Mary, likewise,

make a commitment to welcome, support and pray

for them in this process. It is the role of the com-

munity to help catechize all individuals seeking

the Catholic faith. And it is desirable that the en-

tire Christian community takes an active part in

the celebration of the Rites.

Please welcome these catechumens and candidates

into our parishes and pray for them as they continue

on their faith journey to join us fully at the Easter

Vigil.

Adoration Ministry Come join us for 1

st Friday monthly Adoration of

Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Adoration

starts at 7:30 a.m. and ends with Benediction at 5:30

p.m. Let us pray for the Ministries of our parish.

Prayer changes lives. Come join us on Friday, No-

vember 3, in the Archives Room.

Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

“...then they handed him a Roman coin… He said to them, ‘Whose image is this, and whose inscription?’

They replied, ‘The Caesar’s.’ Then give therefore to Caesar what is the Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”

Matthew 22:19-21

What do you to the Caesar and what do you give to God? Have you ever considered how much time you spend

a week helping in your church or your community? Have you ever taken time to figure out what percentage of

your income goes to the church and other charitable causes?
