ONGOING SUNSET SUPPORT

PUBLIX PARTNERS

Through Publix Partners, all purchases at Publix help earn money for our school. You just need to scan our school’s Publix Partners card before the sale is totaled. It’s that easy!! Our school earns $250 for each $37,500 in spending (including gift card purchases). Currently we are only on track to earn $1,800 in funds this year, but we could be raising closer to $12,000 if everyone would scan their cards! Let’s Do The Math!!! With about 500 families at Sunset Elementary and an average of $300/month spent on groceries, our Sunset Elementary community spends ~ $180,000/month at Publix! If you don’t have a Publix Partners card, please get one from the front office or contact Tricia Ellis at [email protected] to have one sent home to you via your student. If you forget your card, cashiers maintain our card at the registers at the Concord Village and McKay’s Mill Village Center locations – just make sure they use Sunset Elementary’s! Please remember to scan the Publix Partners card before your bill  is totaled. It’s that easy to raise funds for our school!!

NURSE’S CORNER

Sunset is excited to share that Hemi Rambha has again achieved great Chess success! He won the 2016 Nashville City Championship and went on to become the Tennessee State Champion in Chess for 2016! In addition, Hemi won 7th place among 4th graders in the national competition held in Florida in December 2015. Congratulations Hemi on your accomplishments, and thank you for representing Sunset!

Dear Parents, The “sick” season is upon us. Just recently, we started picking up on a few nasty illnesses as follows:

• The flu- we are just starting to see the actual “flu” in our community per several Pediatricians in our area. I haven’t heard anyone confirmed at school yet, but it’s coming. Please remember to check your child’s temperature prior to sending them to school if they are not feeling well.

• The common cold • Spring allergies are starting due to some of our warmer weather. • Stomach virus • Strep Throat- Please take your child to the doctor if they have a sore throat for more than two

days and/or are running a fever or have a rash with a sore throat. • Sinus Infections- Please take your child to the doctor if you notice the mucous

having a deep yellow or greenish color, they have pain, and/or fever.

Thanks for helping me keep everyone safe and healthy! Nurse Robin
