DONATIONS TO SAINT BEDE SCHOOL There are two ways of donating to the school:

1. Annual Appeal for Saint Bede School Anyone can give any amount at any time directly to Saint Bede School for scholarships or for the Support Our

Future Campaign. Checks may be payable to Saint Bede School. Please indicate how you would like the funds to be used. You will receive a letter to acknowledge this tax deductible donation.

2. Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Donations Through Empower Illinois with Matching Gifts

People who owe Illinois income taxes (whether the funds have already been withheld or

the person will need to pay) can make a donation to Saint Bede School through Empower Illinois, and Saint Bede School will receive a two for one matching donation.

There is no minimum donation. You will receive a tax credit of 75% of your donation which means that a tax credit of 75% amount of your donation will be deducted from the

Illinois tax you owe. (Example: You donate $100 to Saint Bede School through Empower Illinois, and that is matched with $200 which will give a total donation of $300

to Saint Bede School.) For every dollar designated to a qualifying school through Empower Illinois between Dec. 1, 2018 and Feb. 28, 2019, the school will receive two

dollars in matching funds. The donations are capped at $100,000 per school. The program will end when all matching funds have been depleted or on Feb. 28, 2019,

whichever comes first. Here is the process:

A. Apply for a tax credit at MyTax.Illlinois.Gov Applicants are required to have a My Tax Illinois account. Visit archchicago.org/tcs for step by step instructions for creating an account and applying for the tax credit.

B. Donate to an SGO within 60 days. Once the application is approved, donate to Empower Illinois within 60 days.

C. Designate to Chicago Catholic Schools. During the donation process, donors have the option to donate to a specific Catholic School (Saint Bede School).

which they lived. Eleanor wrote about Queen Nzinga’s role in leading her Angolan people to free-

dom in her essay “Nzinga, Queen of Ndongo-Matamba.”
