Task 1: Project Work
1. Context: King Kennedy wants to make a small dream palace for his princess Kiara. He decides to use a sea facing rectangular land for making that palace. Now he has appointed you to accomplish this very important task. The sea facing side of the land is 36m wide and 25m length.
2. Activities: a. Draw a blueprint of the palace on a A3 size white sheet as per the following guidelines:
• The palace is having only one floor having a bed, a walk in closet, a veranda, a dance floor and a small kitchen.
• The area of the kitchen should be 5% of the total area and should not be sea facing. The dimensions of the kitchen should be in the ratio 1:1.
• The sea facing side is to be a veranda having length 8m. breadth 6m?
• On the left side of the palace, while facing the sea, there should be dance floor of 5m by 5m.
• On the right side of the palace, while facing the sea, there should be a walk-in closet of dimension 8m by 4m.
• The blueprint of the palace should be neat and clean with proper labelling.
• No colors should be used for drawing.
• Use scale of 100:1 for drawing the blueprint.
b. Now find out: a. The area of the bedsheet required to cover the bed b. Find the area and the dimensions of the kitchen. c. If wood for dance floor costs 5 gold coins per m2. Find the cost of the wood required to make the
dance floor assuming no wastage of wood. d. There are 3 labourers Eena, Meena and Deeka available for work. They will take 8 days (6 hours a
day) to renovate the palace completely. Eena charges 300 gold coins per day, Meena is charging 2800 for the complete renovation and Deeka charges 50 gold coins per day. Please calculate and find which labourer will be most cost efficient.
c. Decoration: King Kennedy is confused about how to decorate well the veranda as it is most lovable sea
facing place in the palace. Put some nice suggestions before King Kennedy about decorating the veranda.
d. Costing: King Kennedy is very caring and wants to put some anti mosquito and detox plants in the palace for good health and well being of princess Kiara. Please find out 4 anti mosquito and detox plants each and find the costs of these plants in the market by visiting a nursery. Prepare a rate list to show to the King. The rate list should have the name, small coloured photo as well as price of the plant in the market. [Use plain file pages for making the rate list].
