and believed what Aristotle and and the Church said about it

about the natural world.

It had always been believed that the
universe circled the flat earth.
A guy named Copernicus studied planets and
discovered that all planets revolve around the sun!

Galileo used a new invention, the telescope, to
prove many things.
- Jupiter had many moons
- Our moon had mountains
- Copernicus’ theories were right!

The Church put him on trial and
forced him to admit he had lied.
