Scribe: Nine La Dow
Editor: David Dye
President Tim welcomed everyone to the meeting and invited the Rotary singers to sing 'Take Me Out to the Ball Game' in honor of our home town heroes, the Giants.
The word of the day was offered by Michelle Valeriano: Giant. Be a giant, be a leader.
Stephanie Herrin welcomed visiting Rotarians from New Zealand, Germany, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Volunteers for the meeting were: Nine La Dow, Michelle Valeriano, Stephanie Herrin, Kent Borowick, Grant Hundley, and Greg Gutting.
Announcements: Stephanie Herrin announced that volunteers are needed for RYLA, this weekend. A Rotaract meeting is scheduled for this Tuesday evening, and the Community Service meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 16. Nine
La Dow reminded members to get their raffle tickets in for the RI Foundation event. Cecile Chiquette reminded members to sign up for the District Foundation event: 'Puttin on the Ritz', November 7. District Governor, Bill Koefoed reminded the members to sign up for the Rotary World Polio Day, October 24, when the Ferry building will be lighted with 'End Polio Now'.
Kevin Waldeck 'fined' himself for being the winner of the annual Rotary golf year.
Speaker of the day: Board of Supervisors' Bevan Dufty.
Mr. Dufty's territory covers primarily the Castro and Noe Valley. He has filed papers to run for mayor, as he terms out in January. He emphasized that his strength is in connecting and networking with his constituents and fellow Board of Supervisors members, except for Chris Daly. Dufty claims that politicians are endlessly entertaining. Dufty feels that Mayor Gavin Newsom has been an
effective mayor for San Francisco, by using tax credits to increase the base for biotech, starting with the wining proposal for the stem cell research center, establishment of a biotech feeder program at City College and providing the proposal for bringing the America's Cup to San Francisco. He endorses Mayor Newsom for Lieutenant Governor. He believes Newsom will excel when he steps into his role as member of all the committees and boards required of the office. Dufty is in the position of being the deciding vote in the 'Happy Meals' debate and
he conceded there are issues on both sides of the equation.
Winner of the 50/50 Raffle: Michael Wolfe who graciously returned the money to Rotary Service.

ROTARY FELLOWSHIP by SF Rotary Webmaster
Rotarians value fellowship as much as they value the service they give both locally and internationally. Captain Kevin Waldeck holds twilight golf outings at
Harding Park twice a month. The final golf outing is an 18 hole event, held this year at the Presidio Golf Course. The golfers were treated to an exceptional performance by the Blue Angels while they were on the golf course.
