Shadow Prints
What is an example of a print?
A print is an artwork made by applying ink to a template - stenci ls or stamps, for instance - and then transferr ing that image onto another surface such as paper.
Relief prints are created from carved stone and pay
respect to the Inuit’s long history of stone carving.
Distinguished by clean graphic outlines and a
monochrome palette punctuated by bold strokes of
colour, the “shadow prints” provide a contemporary
insight into an ancient way of life.
The design
of the print is
carved into the
stone.
