PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
VIKKI GOLDSTEIN, SYNAGOGUE PRESIDENT
We at B’Nai Israel recently experienced the loss of Jon Davies, a fiercely dedicated congregant who exemplified what it means to be Jewish. I was honored to call him my friend and will miss his kind words and wisdom. We also lay to rest Ms. Janet Landy. Ms. Landy was a long time con-gregation member before I was even born! What a perspective. These events made me stop and think of the history of B’Nai Israel. This Con-gregation has a history going back over 100 years! Our Synagogue started in 1899 as the lo-cal Orthodox Jewish congregation and in 1955 we became a Conservative congregation. Yes, the reality is we are an aging congregation. How-ever, B’nai Israel is active and thriving. To further our plan for not only the short term but the con-tinued history of B’nai Israel I have appointed a building planning committee. They are actively gathering information and developing plans for the best course of action related to our aging building, antiquated heating/cooling system as well as kitchen (we have ovens nearly my own age!). There is a sense of excitement in this plan-ning renewing our commitment to this congrega-tion; downsizing if necessary for maintainability and hopes of growth and revitalization. More information will be coming and I appreciate your
patience as we complete our due diligence to this community.
We are thankful to have Rabbi Vana here for our Passover celebration and annual community Se-der. Thank you to all the congregants assisting Rabbi Vana in the planning and preparation. Please make your reservations asap with Jeannie to be part of this communal event.
Also mark your calendar for the first community Derby at the Shul and live Art Auction with Sedg-wick Gallery May 3rd. This will be a FUNdraiser benefitting B’Nai Israel and our partner TIP (Trauma Intervention Program). What an easy way to support your community! Dress to im-press, decorate those hats for the hat contest and enjoy the “stick”horse races inspired by the Kentucky Derby. Contact me, Benjamin Nettles, or Jeannie at the office to purchase tickets, spon-sor the event and/or register to race your choice of horses.
In the words of Mr. Jon Davies…“Be well”

Derby at the Shul Fundraiser
In honor of the Kentucky Derby B’nai Israel will be hosting a “Derby at the Shul” fundraiser. We are very ex-cited to be partnering with TIP (Trauma Intervention Pro-grams) to make this a day of fun for the entire community. Get your best clothes and enjoy a traditional mint julep while we watch our “stick” horses make the Run for the Roses! Of course we must also have the traditional hat contest so get those hats ready! In conjunction with our Run for the Roses we will have an online silent auction as well as an on site Art Auction. We need committee volunteers, horse riders and donations for our silent auction. Please contact Vikki Goldstein or Benja-min Nettles if you can assist in any way. We are very excited for this event!

MEN’S CLUB NEWS ALAN SHEMARIA, MEN’S CLUB PRESIDENT
We need volunteers for Sun-day morning around 10am to help tear down the tables, and chairs from the 2nd night Seder. Shouldn't take that long. If you can help out please call Alan Shemaria or email him, to let him know you are available.
Thank you, because without out You, these special times would not be possible.

Reminder, there is NO religious School Saturday April 4th.
We continue to have fun learning. Passo-ver means one thing for my classroom, plague bags! The children enjoy a little fun figuring out each plague and having some entertainment at their individual Seder. They also decorated cups for Eli-jah, as we pray for his attendance at this Seder and peace in the world.
After our break we will resume our studies of Jewish Life Cycles to finish the year, and don’t forget Allison Poirier, ISJL fellow, will be here April 17-19 for Yom Hashoah presentation.

If you would like the office to send the

let the office know, and it will be sent to you
as the Yahrtzeit approaches. This was a
suggestion by a distinguished congregant and
thought this idea would be nice to share with
all.
