Studies showed that multitasking is a myth, that you can not focus 100 percent on two or more things at the same time. It causes your brain to rapidly move back and forth from one thing to another, thus makes it almost impossible.

Multitasking does not save time, instead it is wasting it. It takes people longer to finish two projects rather than just one separately, in fact it is the same thing with driving. In 2008, the University of Utah discovered that drivers took longer to reach their destination when they made conversations on their cell phone. Experts also estimate that switching between tasks can cause a 40 percent decrease in productivity and believe there will be an increase cause errors in whatever someone is working on.

“As the brain ages, the brain has a harder time getting back on track even after a small detour,” said Guy Winch, a doctor in philosophy. “If you do poorly on an exam because you studied while watching a baseball game on TV, that can certainly trigger a lot of stress even self-esteem issues and depression.”

As we make our way into June, the school year has begun to wind down towards it’s end. However, before we plan on next year, it is time to reflect on what has made the 2014-2015 school year, a year of unforgettable moments and memories for TJ’s students and staff.

Starting with the first trimester, our homecoming week was filled with tons of fun including our annual dodgeball tournament, bonfire, and bahaman beach bash. ENTERTAINMENT

As someone that likes all types of music, I find my primary taste revolve around a lot of underground alternative indie artists; artists that not too many people know of. Marina and the Diamonds (Marina Diamandis) is one of the artists that fits the mold perfectly.

For those who do not know, Marina is a solo artist who writes her own music. Do not let the “Diamonds” part of her name fool anybody. “Diamonds” are just a code name for the fans of her and her music.

Marina is a young singer from Brynmawr, Wales, and has been aspiring to entertain since her youth. She was involved in choir productions during her childhood. That was until 2010, when her indie pop debut album The Family Jewels was released; her first single Obsessions (from said album) debuted in 2009.

The singer came up again in 2011, after she based her new album off certain ideas like female identity

and a recent break up she had went through. This was the foundation for her album Electra Heart, her most successful album yet. Having singles such as Primadonna reach number 11 on the UK Singles Chart, and at number 20 here in the United States.

Now, Marina has even gotten as far as performing her hit titled Forget on Good Morning America, from her most recent album, Froot. She keeps the same eccentric, unique tone to her music.

Her albums have an alternative-pop feel, she has stated that she is an indie artist with pop goals. She is a fruitful artist, she released one song every month from her new album, naming this strategy “froot of the month.”

On her new album, I find my favorite songs are more of a pop sound. Songs like Can’t Pin Me Down and Blue. However, Marina has a great way of putting her own dark twist on the tracks. Even though this album is the most different

Ultimate Frisbee is a sport that has been played in P.E. classes at TJ, but now for the first time, it will be an official TJ club. A single group of kids took a passion for the game, and turned it into a club. They hope one day that frisbee will become a certified high school sport here at TJ.

“We just wanted to take an activity that we all love and add it to our everyday high school life,” said one of the captains Parker Raes.

Ultimate Frisbee is a team sport in which players seek to score points by passing a frisbee to a teammate over the opposing team’s goal line. Many other high schools around the area have this regulated sport, such as

Omaha Benson and Omaha Burke.

Once the idea of this club was started, many TJ students were interested in joining the new activity. Everyone has their own expectations such as TJ junior Michael Hiers who had some of the highest.

“My vision for this club was to get a bunch of people together and play a sport that I have enjoyed

Throughout her fame, I am glad she has been increasing her fan base step by step. Perhaps her tour this year will help her gain more recognition and more Diamonds. If anybody wants to support Marina and her endeavors, make sure to check out her spectacular albums on iTunes and/or the Google Play Store.
