April 14th 2011 01:07:00 PM Name: Jim Russell Comments: I was just musing about the Sigs when I realized I have been on civvy street longer than I was in the CA(R). Left back in 1974, saying was then "feeding them not needing them". God we went through lot a crap then! What a lesson in both democratic and autocratic service. But on the whole a great time. Miss many of those I served with; think back on places served and people I met both positive and unfortunately negative, but thats life. I really have a lot of respect for those serving in todays military; Kudos to them one and all.

June 29th 2010 06:41:07 AM Name: Dave Hunter Comments: I wonder if you might be able to help me in the following, perhaps yourself, or through any contacts you might have: I run the Telephone Museum of PEI in eastern PEI. As part of the exhibits, I have a growing teletype collection. Recently, I added two AN/UGC-504(V) 1 military teletype/printers to the collection (very similar or identical to the US AN/UGC-136AX - note it used the same keyboard as these US machines - the only difference appears to be the designation plate on the back of the unit). They were made by Rayethon E-Systems ECI Division in Florida from 1984 onward. It is an ascii and baudot selectable high speed dot matrix teletype with selectable baud rates made to run off 110 volts AC. http://www.qsl.net/vy2ac/ugc-504.html In order to get them running, I need a bit of information on them - they both came without their power cords. They use a 5 pin Amphenol connector into which the AC power and Loop were fed. I need the pin ins/outs for this connector. I realize they are quite recent. Additionally, I would love to get a photocopy of their manuals, which I will gladly pay for... You can see one of those units at the URL above, see dome of the teletypes in the museum collection at: http://www.qsl.net/vy2ac/rtty.html And see the Museum page at:

August 23rd 2009 06:10:17 AM Name: Mike Trew Comments: Dear Signallers Club - I am looking for help with some research I am doing about the role my home village of Maiden Newton in West Dorset (UK) had during WW2. This will eventually be displayed on information boards as part of a Historic Trail around our village during a large scale Charity 1940's themed weekend we are holding next year June 19th & 20th 2010. We know that the signallers were in the village during the war and that they were from Gaspe, Quebec Province. We also have some memoirs from a Currie Willett who was billeted in a Nissen Hut within the village. We also know that the unit stationed here was sent over to France during D-Day. Can anybody out there give me any more information about the unit that was stationed here. You can contact me on [email protected]. Many thanks for your time.

During the winter of 76/77, I was attached from my unit (RCD) to be a rink rat at the Arrowhead. What a great job that was. Go to work in civvies, drive the Zamboni, hang out at the rink. Those were golden days indeed, my first tour in Germany. The best years of my life. I'm currently living the life of a country squire in a rather remote corner of the West Kootenay. If ever anybody is in the area make sure you look me up. I need some help drinking my elderberry wine!!

My father, Chris Wright, was a member of RCCS from the late 1920s, when he joined Signals as a private in Regina, until he retired in the late 1950s as a Lt.Col. He served in the Prairies and NWT in the 1930s, and during WW2 was posted to Britain, the Radar School in Halifax, and in Canada. He served with CARDE (Can. Army Research Defence Establishment) at Camp Valcartier in the late 1940s for 2 years, and at the School of Signals at Vimy (Kingston) in the early 1950s. After retirement, he worked for the Dept. of Defence Production for a few years in Ottawa. He passed away in 1987. If anyone knew him, I would appreciate hearing from them. Thanks.

What the hey, that was 35 years ago, I can't expect to remember anyones name that long. Just kidding!! I remember those good times like they were yesterday. Heck, I could probably do Roll Call off the top of my head, aint that right Buck, or Brush Mush (Russ), or Herm. Looks like I'm gonna have to spend a few coins, join this bunch, and get back in touch with a lot of good old friends. I say old, because if I remember correctly, I was the youngest, or close to it, and I'm damn near ready to retire with over 30 years at Dofasco Inc. in Hamilton. There's still got to be a whole lot of motorcycler's left yet, I hope. You'd sure make a grown man happy, if anyone formerly of the CAF M/C DT were to get in touch. Thanks, et

Name: Jack Simison Comments: Hello Comrades. I'm not a Club member but was introduced to this site by one of you stalwart members, and in skimming these entries, I note some familiar names. I was amused by some remarks about Basic Training troops K***. I think mine was K* ! I took basic when the Forde Bldg was called The Model T Bldg. Generals Wylie and Simpson were 2nd Lts ! The tree in the parade square was a sapling. My motto, besides VVV, is E.H.et E. - Ubique Honor et Equis - Everywhere Honour and Equality : The motto of the WWII 12th Manitoba Dragoons. I served 38 yrs in the army. Let us all honour the miitary ethos. We are, all of us, some of Canada's best. January 3rd 2003 09:41:18 AM Name: Clayton W.
