UPCOMING EVENTSYOUTH CAMP IS 7 DAYS AWAY AND COUNTINGMeet at the church at 11:30am. WE ARE LEAVING AT 12-NOON SHARP. We will return 6/12 at noon.

NO SMALL GROUPS UNTIL SCHOOL STARTS We are taking a break for the summer. The next session will start around the beginning of school.

SUMMER WEDNESDAY NIGHTSThis summer we will be meeting at different people’s houses for Wednesday night service. We will still meet from 6-8pm. If your student needs a ride please let me know beforehand and we can work something out. Also, please make sure your student eats beforehand as we will onlly have light snacks available.

THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT: MEET AT STRANGE’S HOUSEMeet at the Strange’s house at 1476 Saddle Club Way from 6-8pm. Bring your bathing suit and a towel to swim. Also, send your student with chips or a 2-liter.KINGS ISLAND CONCERT: JULY 9TH $50See page four below for more info

END OF SCHOOL BONFIRE: JUNE 4TH 8-10PMWeather permitting, we are going to meet at the White’s farm for an end of school bonfire. We plan on playing some water balloon games and having some smores. Please send your student with a chair and a smore item (graham crackers, marshmellows, chocolate bars). Directions:

31 DAY DEVOTIONAL

One of the challenges students face after the spiritual high of youth camp is establishing a consistent quiet time. Here is a great resource that I think will help. It’s a 31 day devotional over verses emphasizing the word. Each day focuses on one verse for memorization and reflection. We are selling these books for $5 each. Let me know if you would like to purchase one for your students or family. I need to know by Sunday so I can place the order while the students are at camp.

No Bikinis or SpeedosWe require that your student cover up with shorts and a shirt if they do not have proper attire

Bring your towelWe will have a few on hand for those who forget but

if 30 kids forget their towel then we are in trouble!

No Peeing in the PoolNo seriously, talk to your student about this.

GBC SUMMER CAN FOOD DRIVE

During the summer the students will be meeting at different homes for Wednesday Night Service.

In addition to having pool parties, hanging out, and having fun, we are asking that each student bring at least

one can each Wednesday Night.

We will collect the cans over the duration of the summer and at the end we will donate them to

God’s Pantry.

UPCOMING YOUTH EVENTS(INFO THAT WOULDNT FIT ON PAGE ONE)

KING’S ISLAND

So far we have 7 students signed up. The price advertised was with a group of 15 or more. I just found out that we can get an early bird special if we order by June 12th. Tickets will be $42.99+$6.95 fee=$50 bucks

However, they only have 80 tickets left so we need to purchase soon. The seating is reserved which makes things difficult for adding in last minute stragglers. Therefore, we will make one purchase of all the tickets on Thursday. This means that if your student is interested in attending they must sign up by Wednesday.

I will not be able attend this event with the youth. However, my absence should not interfere with the youth going to King’s Island and having a blast. There are three chaperones signed up:Van CaoRebecca Cao

Depending on how many students sign up between now and Wednesday I will need the assistance of one or two more chaperones. Please let me know if you will be able to go if I need additional chaperones.

If you are a parent, you are more than welcome to come along with your student and have fun at King’s Island. Please be aware that the concert will run propbably run late and the students wont get back until early the next morning.

YOUTH ROOM

Here’s the deal with the youth room. We had an initial meeting with a few people and determined that before we could really start planning we would need two items:1. Blue prints to determine which walls are removable2. Mold Inspection

We are still awaiting the completion of these two items. As soon as something further develops I will let everyone know. Once we determine what we want to do we will break up into teams to perform different tasks. Thanks to everyone who is interested in making the youth room a respectable place for our students.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP TEAM

At the last parent meeting, I talked about the SLT. An important issue was raised in regards to when the students would meet. The initial proposal was Wednesday evening from 4-5pm. I understand that this would be difficult for many potential candidates. A few alternative timse were proposed. The most feasible meeting times will be on Sunday evenings from 4-5pm. Therefore, this is when the SLT will meet on a weekly basis.

OPEN CAMP SPOTS

We have three spots available for camp. They are already paid for. Please ask your student if they know of any friends who want to come to camp. They will be given away on a first come first serve basis.
