THE SPIRIT ON US

THE SPIRIT ON US

Let therefore be no divisions among us.

Ephesians 4:

1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

3 Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

4 There is one body, one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Let glory not be for you but for God who gives His Spirit who strengthens you to do His work.

1 Corinthians 3:

21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours

22 whether of Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;

23 And ye are Christs and Christ is Gods

Acts 3:

12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? Or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

John 15:

26 But when the Comforter is come, because I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of me.

John 16:

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whomsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

14 He shall glorify me.

Acts of the Apostles pg.51 It is not essential to be able to define just what the Holy Spirit is. Christ tells us that the Spirit is the Comforter, the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father. It is plainly declared regarding the Holy Spirit that, in His work of guiding men into truth, He shall not speak of Himself.

Testimonies For the Church Vol.1, pp. 187-8 Those who come up to every point, and stand every test, and overcome, be the price that it may, have heeded the counsel of the True Witness and they will receive the latter rain, and thus be fitted for translation.

Testimonies For The Church vol. 5, p 214. Not one of us will ever receive the seal of God while our characters have one spot or stain upon them. It is left with us to remedy the defects in our characters, to cleanse the soul temple of every defilement. Then the latter rain will fall upon us as the early rain fell upon the disciples on the day of Pentecost.

Testimonies For The Church Vol. 6, p. 42 The Spirit can never be poured out while variance and bitterness toward one another are cherished by the members of the church. Envy, jealousy, evil-surmising, evil-speaking are of Satan, and they effectually bar the way against the Holy Spirits working.

Testimonies For The Church Vol. 8, p. 246 When we bring our hearts into unity with Christ and our lives into harmony with His work, the Spirit that fell on the disciples on the day of Pentecost will fall on us.

Early Writings, p.71 I saw that none could share the refreshing unless they obtain the victory over every besetment, over pride, selfishness, love of world, and over every wrong word and action. We should, therefore, be drawing nearer and nearer to the LordLet all remember that God is Holy, and none but holy beings can dwell in His presence.

Review and Herald, Nov. 19, 1908. Article by E. G. White.

Before the day of Pentecost they met together, and put away all differences. They were of one accord. They did not ask for the blessings for themselves merely; they were weighted with the burden of salvation of souls. Then it was that the Holy Spirit was poured out, and thousands were converted in a day.

So it may be now, instead of mans speculations, let the Word of God be preached. Let Christians put away their dissensions, and give themselves to God for the saving of the lost.
