Minute of Silence Virginia Law requires schools to start the day
with a ‘minute of silence’. The law allows for different
uses of the minute so that “each pupil may, in the exercise
of his or her individual choice, meditate, pray, or engage
in any other silent activity which does not interfere with,
distract, or impede other pupils in the exercise of their
individual choice.” The law also specifies “all pupils
remain seated and silent and make no distracting
display…” We begin our announcements with the
following statement, “As we begin another day, let us
pause for a minute of silence.” Following the minute of
silence, we conclude with the Pledge of Allegiance. Please
discuss this law with your students and help them
understand that the expectation is for students to remain
quiet.
Change of Address You must provide a form and proof of residency
to the Counseling Office. The Change of Address form is
located on the website under the Counseling Office. This
form and proof of residency must be submitted as soon as
possible. Proof of residency consists of a signed lease,
deed, settlement papers, mortgage statement or deed of
trust and a current utility bill.
Updates to Phone/Email Contacts Please submit the update request online through
ParentVue. Once the request has been submitted, school
staff will review it before updating the record.
Bell Schedule
Regular, Advisory Day, Activity, 1-Hour and 2-
Hour Delay bell schedules are listed on a full page
towards the end of this newsletter. Please refer to this
should LCPS adjust the school day due to weather.
Food Deliveries to School
Students may not order restaurant delivery. If
parents deliver lunch, please avoid drinks in paper cups.
The risk of a spill in the front office is too great!
Parking Lot Information Student Drop Off/Pick Up – We ask that you
drop students off and pick them up only in the front
parking lot. Please do not drop students off in the back of
the school as this area is used for athletic buses and other
specific needs.
Extended parking is not permitted in the bus
loop at any time before or after the school day.
According to the Fire Marshall, the Bus Loop is considered
a roadway and parking is not allowed. Exemptions are
buses and emergency vehicles.
Please do not park in the surrounding
neighborhoods. Towing is a very possible consequence.
Parking Permits Applications for the second semester may be
turned in to the main office beginning January 7th. All applications must have complete car
information, parent signature, and payment via cash or
check at the time of submission. Online payments must
also have an application turned in to the front office. The
fee for a parking permit is $200.00 for the school year or
$100.00 per semester. Parking fees are not prorated. A few
daily passes are available for a small fee per day.
Specific parking spaces are not assigned. Parking
is on a first come/first served basis within the student lot
each day. This worked very well in previous years as it
eliminated issues when students park in incorrect spaces,
or when snow buries some spaces for days.
Parking is a privilege and students must remain in
good standing to remain eligible to park at school.
Notes from the Bookkeeper A $10 fee is assessed for returned checks.

Senior Class Information
- June 9, 2019, 10am at GMU ---- GRADUATION!
Mission: The purpose of
the Senior Capstone is to
provide graduates with
meaningful experiences,
self-fulfillment, and
opportunities for post-secondary success through civic
engagement and career exploration.
Summary: From May 20 to June 3, qualifying seniors
are excused from classes to pursue a community service
project or career development opportunity. Students
must complete a total of 50 hours at their host site over
the time period.
Community service projects can range from
hands-on experiences to administrative work. Career
development opportunities can range from internships
to job shadowing. Students have discretion in choosing
their project, so long as the project will provide an
authentic experience.
All participants are required to find both a
community sponsor and a Stone Bridge staff sponsor.
The community sponsor should be the person
responsible for guiding them during the capstone
experience and may not be a family member. The Stone
Bridge staff sponsor may be any full-time staff member
at Stone Bridge with whom the student has a positive
relationship. The Senior Capstone Sponsor must
approve all capstone experiences.
On June 3 all capstone seniors will participate in a
Celebration Gala at 6:30pm, to which the community
and parents will be invited.

the SBHS website (bottom left hand corner) for
information about "THE EVENT OF THE SENIOR
YEAR -- ANGP! This is one heck of a party and we need
Freshman, Sophomore and Junior parents to "pay it
forward" and help with the planning. To make the party a
success, the PG Committee meets monthly throughout the
year to plan fresh ideas for each graduating class. We are in
search of folks to serve on committees, help with
fundraising, as well as to volunteer for set-up, chaperoning,
and clean up after the party.
Project Graduation is an all-night party hosted by
Stone Bridge parents for our graduates to celebrate this
important milestone, and to keep our graduates safe. The
party is held at Stone Bridge on graduation night from

Library News Hours: 8 a.m. – 4:30 a.m. Mon. – Thurs.
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays during school.
Happy New Year from your library! It’s time for out
with the old and in with the new. If you got some new,
updated items this holiday season, consider donating your
old to the library. Some items we would love to have for
student projects, library space updates and fundraisers are:
• Table lamps (would like 4) and floor lamps (2)
• used fiction and non-fiction books, preferably
middle school age through adults, for our end-of-
the-year used book sale
• art supplies, especially paint brushes of all sizes
• games such as Settlers of Catan, Game of Phones,
backgammon, Apples to Apples, and large puzzles
(500+ pieces)
• plants
The library is the perfect place to deal with the winter
doldrums. We have games such as chess and checkers, our
makerspace, and lots of good books. We also have study
carrels for quiet study and collaborative spaces for group
projects. Check out a new book or pick up a highly rated
classic to be prepared for snow day reading.
Our Library Teen Advisory Group will host Game Days
after school in late January and a Murder Mystery in
February. Watch the announcements along with our

Student Supplies needed. Every day we have hundreds of
students visit our library. Many students are working on
projects and ask for supplies such as colored pencils,
markers, index cards, poster board, and pencils. While we
have many supplies available in our “Student Supplies” area,
we get no funds from LCPS to provide these; thus, we
welcome donations of any of the items listed above. As you
do some new year cleaning, please consider sending in any
extra supplies you might have for students to use in the
library.
Student Assistance for Research Projects Available. The
librarians are available to assist students with research
assignments and every step of the research and writing
process. Students can always ask for help before and after
school, during lunch, and during study hall.
Other Tools Available for Students. We have a green
screen and audio recording space available to students.
WeVideo is a LCPS provided app for video creation. Other
tools are available via LCPS GO! Such as databases and
VideoBlocks and AudioBlocks.
Your trash is our treasure – If you have any of the
following items to donate, the library would love to have
them for student projects, library updates, and fundraisers:
used fiction books, café height tables and chairs, flat screen
television, hand tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, nuts
and bolts, and art supplies such as paint brushes. We also
love school and office supplies that students can use. We can
provide you with a donation letter.

Chromebook Info Students are expected to bring their fully-charged
Chromebooks to school each day.
Any problems with Chromebooks should be
reported to Mr. Randy Kenyon. He is located in the library,
and the Chromebook Help Desk is open from 8:15 – 9:15
a.m. and again during all lunch shifts. Students need to
arrange to see him at that time.
The library has a limited supply of Chromebooks
that can be checked out for the day, available on a first-come
first-served basis. These must be returned by the end of
EACH school day so they can charge and be available for
the next student. These are the old, school-purchased
Chromebooks and the charging cords are NOT compatible
with student-issued devices.
Students are strongly encouraged to label their
chargers. Students should not loan chargers to friends. The
library does NOT have chargers to loan. Students who
have lost their chargers will need to buy a replacement via
the online payment portal found on the school website.

Our Parent Liaison is an LCPS staff member who
works to bridge the gap between school and home. She is
here to help parents get the information and support needed
to ensure academic and social success in school.
Did you know SNAP (food stamps) does not cover
toiletry, grooming, cleaning and paper product supplies
under this program. We have a NEED here at our school.
We want to serve our students and neighboring schools at all
educational levels. Please help us grow our pantry!

Lunch Accounts Virginia law dictates how schools communicate
with students regarding their ability to pay for a meal or if
they have a low balance on account at the time of service.
School nutrition staff are no longer permitted, by
law, to remind students of their account balances at the cash
register. This provision was enacted to protect students with
the inability to pay from being identified to their peers in the
lunch line through conversation with school nutrition
workers.
Parents are reminded that you are responsible for
monitoring and ensuring funds are available to purchase
food items. It is recommended that parents sign up for My
School Bucks (www.myschoolbucks.com). Monitoring
student accounts is free, and access enables parents to
manage the account to avoid a low or negative balance.
LCPS Nutrition Services sends email notifications
to the parent/guardian when an account goes negative.

Health Center Information • The direct line is (571) 252-2215
• If your student has any significant medical needs, please
notify the nurse even if the school has been notified in
previous school years. If your child has diabetes, seizures,
life-threatening allergies, asthma or uses an inhaler, you
should pick up forms for you and your physician to
complete so the school can understand and address your
student’s needs.
• A parent or guardian must deliver any medication
(prescription or non-prescription) to the school health
center. Students should not transport any medication
to or from school. Parents are responsible for picking up
unused medication. If a student mistakenly brings
medication, he should turn it in to the clinic immediately.
• The nurse must have written instructions from the
physician in order to administer prescription
medication.
These instructions should include:
• Student’s name.
• Name and purpose of the medication.
• Dosage and time of administration.
• Possible side effects and measures to take if they
should occur.
• End date for administering the medication.
• Parent signature giving permission to administer
medicine and to contact student’s Physician.
• Physician’s signature.
• A copy of the special “Medication Form” that should be
used appears later in this newsletter.
• All prescription medicine must be in the original pharmacy
bottle with the proper label containing the name of the
student, dosage, and instructions for administration. If you
ask, the pharmacy will give you an extra bottle for school.
• If the nurse needs to give non-prescription medication, it
must be in original packaging with the name of the
medicine and instructions.
• The nurse must have a note from the parent regarding when
and how much medicine to administer.
• The nurse will only give the amount listed on the package
for your student’s age and weight and for the recommended
length of time, the student should receive the medicine
unless she has doctor’s orders on a medication form that
indicates otherwise.
• The nurse cannot administer medicine that is not in its
original container.
• Students who have fevers should be kept at home until free
of fever for 24 hours.
• All 10th graders and students new to LCPS will be screened
for vision and hearing during the first two months of
school. Parents will be notified of any concerns.
Be sure to keep the “Emergency Information” up-to-date so
that we can reach you if your student is ill or injured.
