Quality Control

Food quality is maintained as follows:

• Hot food items are blast chilled1

• Food is delivered to beneficiaries within one hour of pick up

• Mandatory due diligence site visits are performed by Foodlink staffon beneficiaries

• Beneficiaries sign disclaimer to abide by Foodlink’s “Safety & Hygiene" guidelines”

Note 1: Blast chilling is a method of cooling food quickly to a low temperature (+70 °C (158 °F) to +3 °C (37 °F) or below within 90 minutes) that is relatively safe from bacterial growth.

What type of food is collected?Nutritious surplus food from buffet lines and local bakeries:

• Proteins - Meats (roasted chicken, sausages, beef steak,pork chops)

• Carbohydrates – Rice and noodles, dim-sum, pastries,breads and muffins

• Vegetables (cooked)

• Fruits (whole uneaten fruit)

Foodlink does not collect perishable items

• Examples include: sashimi, fresh seafood, salad, cut fruit, cream cakes or dairy products
