Feature (~ 650):A feature is a group of requirements, which fulfilment can be tested at theavailable interfaces. Features shall be characteristics expected from asystem by the operator and therefore outwardly visible.

Test cases (~ 1.600):These are the formal functional and technical descriptions of the testcases needed to prove interoperability. It is expected that for tracksidetest cases due to lack of technical description of interfaces onlyfunctional test case descriptions are possible.

Test sequence (~ 90):Test sequences are used for automatic execution of the test cases, namely by grouping test cases into scenarios which are sensible from anoperations point of view and which can be run on the test environmentsgenerally used in industry

CONCLUSIONS (i)

The laboratory complements the tests on track, do not replace them. The laboratory is limited for the verification of dynamic issues (Braking distances, odometry errors, etc) and layout verification (Eurobalise position, track elements, etc)

Thanks to the confidence and support of the companies1. The laboratory allow verification off-line during the infrastructure

design phase. It provides excellent support at early implementation phases (the earlier is the better), mainly for:

2. The reference format allows the verification of multi-supplier infrastructure projects as a single project (corridors)

3. The connection of real equipment simplifies the integration train-track

• Verification of interoperability• Verification of engineering rules• Verification of exploitation rules

I RAIL TECHNOLOGICAL FORUM FOR INTERNATIONALIZATION

CONCLUSIONS (ii)

4. The validation of the laboratory makes acceptable by the safety departments laboratory tests results

5. The laboratory provides a controlled environment more efficient (in time and cost) and reliable than the line. It does not interfere with installation and maintenance tasks

6. The use of the Scenarios Generator format approaches the certification and the placing into service processes guaranteeing the analysis of test results

7. The laboratory has been used with success to put is service:• Commuter lines of Madrid (Invensys & Thales Track / Alstom & Invensys Board) • Madrid-Levante HS line (Invensys Trackside / Siemens & Bombardier Onboard)
